Indian Premier League - General Discussion

This is some lovely fast bowling and equal stupid shots from RR. Happy to see RR lose against KKR and win against others. On Narine, I mentioned after the last match, they need to stop experimenting with him opening. Yes he was in some form in the CPL if I remember but this is a different league of bowling all together. We need Russ, Morgan and Cummins. If and only if Kuldeep was in form (he is way past his form from Indian cricket days), Narine could be easily dropped for Banton.

Some good bowling changes by DK today. Loved how Gill played today along with Rana and Morgan. I feel Morgan should have batted before DK and we could have reached 200. Need to keep batting good, I feel the young Indian bowlers will come good for KKR.

What just happened to RR? Beautiful bowling from Nagarkoti & Mavi though.

Steve Smith, a batsman known for his incredible levels of concentration got out after playing the same shot thrice in a row with an appealed and dropped catch after the first two attempts. Seems obvious that they went with the gameplan of this being Sharjah part two. Buttler's soft dismissal doesn't help either.

I said it before but Smudge missed a trick not playing Miller on this ground. Uthappa's dreadful decline (can Jaishwal play spin well? I would rather get him up to speed on a middle order role and have him there) doesn't help things either. Loving Nagarkoti in the field, seems to be have the potential to be a complete cricketer in the future.[DOUBLEPOST=1601486767][/DOUBLEPOST]Oh dearie me just as I say it he does that!

Anyone get the impression that Karthik is captain in name only and Morgan is running the show?

Karthik already had issues with Russell last season if I remember right and Baz is best pals with Morgan after all. However the higher ups do like DK and see him as an integral part of their franchise (with him travelling to see their CPL franchise and whatnot) and he has plenty of experience as captain for his state team. My random guess would be that DK is fine with deferring to Morgan given the latter's expertise and reputation as long as he gets a clear voice in this holistic setup.

Morgan must have a hidden smile inside seeing Curran smash those balls.

I didn't see it tbh. When I turned on Nagarkoti and Mavi were bowling dot balls and clicking 140+

Well played Tom Curran... Well deserved 50 for him... RR top 3 players, Jos / Smith / Samson played like they are chasing 200+ in sharja ground... Tom shows that, if we hang around little bit, can score runs in this pitch... Same happens in 1st innings and in last match too... Just need to adjust first here and play shots...

Both Curran brothers made there name in IPL with both bat and bowl... In future definitely biding war will rise up to get them on team...

I love DK the person, I love DK the captain. HE is such a positive and happy human. Brings such a positive vibe. Also if Morgan is helping DK, that is not a bad thing. When Dhoni captained for India back in the glory days, he had all the inputs from Zaheer who was leading the bowling along with SRT and Sehwag. There is nothing wrong in having multiple leaders in the side. Gill has already mentioned that he wants to lead the youngsters and wants to show them the correct path. I am sure Baz and the management have some plans since DK wont be around forever.

DK saying "just bowl, he won't smash you" in casual tamil to Varun who was bowling to Tewatia was one of the moments of the game. Especially because he picked up the wicket right after that. Amidst criticism of him for overbowling the spinners in the end and not bowling Kuldeep at the start, moments like these tend to be forgotten.

Ishan Kishan scored 99 in the last match and today he struggled his way to 28 runs off 32 balls. That is what Cricket is! BTW he still looked in a good touch and definitely showed the right intent to go for the big shot.

If I remember correctly, he started off slowly in 99 runs match as well. Rohit and Pollard still out there with 22 off last over, should get MI to atleast 175-180 if these two continue.
