Indian Premier League - General Discussion

This is just a disaster. Punjab has to bring in Jordan for Neesham next game.

Punjab's death bowling getting exposed again. Neesham is not a bowler that should be bowling in over 16 to 20.

Neesham works if you already have a decent death bowling setup and you can slot in an over or maybe two of his. Jordan being dropped always looked premature to me.

89 runs in the last 5, Mumbai has been hitting big in the last 5 this IPL. I know Agarwal and KL are in some form but if Bumrah, Pattinson and Boult can get early wickets, Punjab middle order is fragile. I see Mumbai Indians winning by atleast 30-40 runs.

So far in KXIP only openers scored runs for them, so we need to look how they play today...

Looks like my prediction came true. Losing by atleast 50 odd runs. Punjab always had this problem where if the top 3 fail, the middle order fails. Middle order is such a crucial set of players even for T20's. Look how Pollard, Kishan and Pandya made the difference, look how Morgan, Russ made a difference for KKR, Williamson for SRH.

There is a trend where you go heavy at top creating a barrier in the middle. Nice win this for MI this.

How Maxwell makes 10+ crore every year is beyond me. They need to get rid of him and get Jordan in. They need that death bowling. Every great death bowler will go for runs once in a while.

Big match tomorrow - CSK vs SRH! Good thing is, CSK plays at the same ground that they played last game and out of their next 5 games, 4 of them are in Dubai. Good chance to get really used to the conditions.

This would be my CSK XI for tomorrow:

Ruturaj
Watson
Faf
Rayudu
Dhoni
Curran
Bravo
Jadeja
Thakur/Karn/Saikishore
Chawla
Chahar

Jadhav is not bowling anyways and his impact on the game as a batsman is almost NONE right now. I would get Bravo in for his change of pace and also the finishing abilities with the bat. And this way, both Curran and Bravo play together and Curran shares the new ball with Chahar. Depending on the wicket, it should be a toss up between Shardul Thakur or Karn Sharma or Saikishore (I wish Saikishore gets a chance as he is also a Powerplay bowler, but I doubt CSK will give him his chance that early). I think the pitches are yet to really start spinning and probably Shardul is the better option and he can also win games with the bat.

@SaiSrini I somehow feel Bravo's abilities with the bat are sometimes over-stated. Come the situation when the top order collapses and they would have overs to play then Bravo certainly wouldn't help much. Yes he was good in the past but I don't he is that good now. Also his death bowling has been terrible in last 2 seasons with an economy of close to 14-15 runs per over in the death. I would definitely play him ahead of Kedar Jadhav and see what he could do but right now I don't think he is a reliable option either. Also I feel the Overseas four doesn't have any problem apart from Watson who too have shown sparks of brilliance.

Is the news about CSK contracts of Harbhajan and Raina being cancelled true?

Yet again they go with Jadhav!! What is this love story between Dhoni and Jadhav? What utility do they see in Jadhav? Otherwise, good changes from CSK!

I am actually not disappointed with CSK losing the toss. I know Dhoni said he would've batted first, but this venue has shown that toss hasnt mattered in the 6 games that have been played here.

That really did not look like a run-out to me.
