Indian Premier League - General Discussion

Yet another change for Kings XI with Mujeeb in and Jordan out. This constant cropping and changing playing XI will not help. See what has happened to RCB, KL is following Virat's footstep.

What does poor Porel have to do to get a game though? Brar and Arshdeep have both played ahead of him and the latter's last T20 game was in the IPL last year! I know that Porel is more of a longer format bowler but his baseline stats for T20s are good, he has improved on his pace tremendously and has been a vital part of Bengal's pace battery. An India 'A' bowler surely should be given first priority over the likes of domestic only bowlers surely?[DOUBLEPOST=1602166249][/DOUBLEPOST]

It isn't just the constant changes though, Punjab's game management just seems a bit off to me so far. Whether that is down to Rahul, Kumble and co or just inexperience is something only time can tell.

Gotta love the media. They're treating holding back Narine like it was some check mate. The guy has been going at 9's at an average of 60 this IPL, sometimes failing to bowl his quota.

The game yesterday had nothing to do with great captaincy or great bowling, just daft batting. It could well be that DK was actually looking to bowl CSK out thereby using his best resources up front. Not in his wildest dreams would he have imagined that he would win the game without having to bowl CSK out.

I felt like they prioritized the "Narine vs Dhoni" matchup over the "Narine vs Watson" matchup, because they understood from the first innings that batting got progressively tougher as the ball got older. KKR scored only 74 runs in their last 10 overs and for the loss of 8 wickets. And dew has made almost no impact in this tournament so far.

It wasn't a checkmate by any means, but it was very unusual and a decision that worked spectacularly. I don't think it should serve as any blueprint whatsoever because teams will find a way around it.

This might get really ugly soon if they do not pick up wickets.

KXIP getting the hammering RCB got last year. I won't be surprised if both these batsman score their hundreeds today like last year.

Yeh, SRH ain't defending this.

I wouldn't rush to call this a defeat yet, yesterday's match showed that it isn't easy in the last ten overs at all. Punjab's also heavily reliant on their opening duo.

I've never understood the obsession with Pandey though. For the amount of money he earns, the number of truly impactful innings he plays is dreadfully low. Today is another such instance.

Have a feeling Maxwell will be among runs today.

Clearly 20+ runs short.

Sunrisers had a poor finish still could've got 220, but this is a good total still.

Without Bhuvi it may be difficult but I still think SRH have a decent bowling attack that can defend these types totals. Getting Rahul is the key here now.

The way Arshdeep grew into the game was impressive, not many bowlers would have bounced back after that horror first over that he was lucky to get away with. Has deservedly ensured that his spot in the team will be secure for the next game. Credit to Rahul and Maxi too, going with Bishnoi at that point in the game was a bold move and it paid off handsomely. One thing that I disliked about SRH's first innings was that out of the three hitters they had, they chose to send their most inexperienced (also most explosive potentially) in at three with a marauding Bairstow already there and saved the other two down at seven and eight. Abhishek and Rashid should have faced a lot more deliveries than what they did. Williamson going in at three with Pandey coming in only if he was dismissed could have been a better use of their resources.

Punjab's batting is very weak today.

I agree, Bishnoi at seven is too risky of a ploy. Maxwell is being completely wasted too if he is supposed to come in at the end and they had plans to bring in Gayle, no idea where he slots in.
