Indian Premier League - General Discussion

It should probably be 1 marquee player, 1 international and 1 right to retain card.
All this sounds cool but what about loyalty? it's damn rough to let players go!

Cheating. It was pre-meditated.[DOUBLEPOST=1602181630][/DOUBLEPOST]This IPL is turning out to be a snooze fest. Punjab are already out. 2/3 teams could be out by next week.

It also shows that the mega auction needs to happen as soon as next year and the retention power of 5 people needs to be put in the bin. It should probably be 1 marquee player, 1 international and 1 right to retain card.

I really wish this year's mid season transfer window throws up some very interesting possibilities that potentially turns the tournament around. Obviously from a selfish perspective, I hope CSK keep their eyes/ears open and look to find some replacements in the mid-season transfer window. This season, even capped players (internationals) can be traded after the 7th game as long as they have played 2 or fewer games this season.

Big big mistake by Punjab to release R Ashwin. They just put so much pressure out there on KL Rahul. SRK kept the faith on Dinesh Karthik for KKR, and KKR have not done badly so far. Always as usual, Preity Zinta and her team continues to show scramble thinking. We can see that in the way she behaves in the auctions.

Thoguhts on the 4 bowlers strategy from SRH? Does boost the batting a lot, but could also go south if Rashid has an off day.

Big risk. Not really a fan of it as you need min 5 bowlers in T20. Yes, there may be temporary success but it won't last long.

Lynch Asprin.
Credit where due. Didn't think it would turn out this way.

But with only 4 frontline bowlers, I suspect we are in for some hammering during the business end of the tournament.

If only we had someone like Mitchell Marsh :(

And that would mean Williamson sitting out. That's not an option as well.
Dhawan was the balance for SRH tbh, letting him go really did things worse for them. Bairstow is world class but Dhawan was similar with an overseas spot up for someone like Nabi/M Marsh/Stanlake. Tbh, Warner and Bairstow have been excellent but what's next?

Well it did seem inevitable when you've got genuine #11 in Mujeeb striding out to bat at #7. I don't think Sunrisers have the worst attack minus Bhuvi, it could hold its own with the emergence of Natarajan and if Khaleel/Sandeep hold their own like they did yesterday. But 4 bowlers will not work, having Abhishek and Samad share overs is not a good idea, especially considering Samad is primarily a batsman. There's really no choice but to bring in Nabi for Williamson, but that weakens the batting more. Another option is to bring back Shankar and have him bowl 1-2 overs, but Samad, Abhishek and Garg have all shown promise and it's a matter of letting them bide their time and settle as young players. Another move could be swapping out a batsman and bringing in Shahbaz Nadeem to strengthen the bowling, but it seems very risky playing Rashid at #7 when his game is to just swing for the hills.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I looked up and saw Mujeeb was in and they were only five wickets down. :lol

Just how bad the season is getting off the field also for CSK? Lungi Ngidi posts cryptic tweet and likes a comment on his tweet that said "You deserve a better IPL team bro".

For a management like CSK that's known for its iconic backing of players and making them feel happy and at home, they've had too much of bickering/infighting this season. First the rumors around Suresh Raina and the 'Balcony Gate' and now this. And the rumors around the contract termination of Raina and Harbhajan. And all this happening when MS Dhoni is around? I would understand if all this was happening after MSD retired from IPL.

Hope CSK can still salvage this season and make a spirited run for the playoffs. I still trust in Dhoni and Fleming to make a very good fight of this in the second half of the tournament. But what I worry about is the handling of affairs from the team management post Dhoni retirement.

I have really liked Rajasthan's approach so far in this game. They know bowlers are going to get smacked at Sharjah but they have brought in bowlers who are aggressive and can bowl with gas. I was surprised that they didn't go for Oshane Thomas and instead brought AJ Tye but still a very decent bowling attack for this ground. Most importantly, the bowlers have come up with a plan and are bowling according to that. The use of bouncers has been very clever as well.

Delhi's bowling attack has been really good so far in the tournament but they will definitely get tested tonight.
