Yeah, they did lack some quality batsmen at the top. Sanju Samson opening the innings made the middle order too thin when Nair was out of form. Iyer couldn't do much and same can be said to Pant. How can you expect Pant to fire all the time? Any other batsman should've taken initiative.

Horrible batting by DD's top order.You won't see too many matches won when your top six batters contributes only 20 runs.Morris and Rabada did well to take the match till the last over and it was too much in the end for them to cross the finishing line.As Zak said in the post match interview the only way MI would came back is by making early inroads and they did exactly that.
