Question - is the "no crowds in stadium" playing a signficant part in the results so far, this IPL? I have heard many experts and audience discuss about it in social media and I also strongly feel its a crucial element that has drastically influenced the fortunes of teams this year. For example, I think RCB seems to play differently as they are facing significantly less pressure. I am sure all teams would have insulated themselves from social media and media as a whole. The only way they see reactions is when the crowd comes into the grounds. But with that also taken out of picture, suddenly you have teams performing differently when they don't have much pressure while playing.

On the contrary, sides like Chennai with their entourage of veterans/experienced players could have felt the buzz (that they might feed off) lacking? That's no excuse for CSK's poor performance because they put themselves in this hole by not giving youngsters a chance. But I am just thinking if this is a significant factor this year (my opinion - it is!)

I am sure its a valid point. Phycology of players is crucial and crowd not in definitely matters. I remember it was either Kohli or Rohit who said at the beginning that they are still getting used to not playing in front of crowd pressure. Although this is not 100% the reason, it definitely could be 5% reason.

I dont think it would have an affect on teams overall. Maybe on individual players - like you said, guys playing international cricket would be affected by it. Guys who havent hit the national side yet would be unaffected since they would be used to playing in almost empty stadiums

Disagree with the inclusion of Holder. If Williamson was to be ever ruled out the first person on that replacement list should've been Nabi. Played pretty well in the CPL, and IMO a much strong middle order batsman than Holder. Looks like Sunrisers were trying to strengthen the third fast bowler role though playing Holder, but I think it leaves the batting lineup a lot more vulnerable than opposed to playing Nabi. And on top of that SRH have a poor record chasing this season :facepalm.

Holder is a better batsman than Nabi.

I think the Holder decision was a good one. It has been the third seamer that has been causing problems for SRH.

Adding to that how Holder batted in CPL, it could catch teams off guard
