Indian Premier League - General Discussion

The whole 'ethics' aura around Ashwin is just something he uses for publicity IMO. I don't remember the exact phrases he has used till now, but the thing he feels is unfair is the mankad being a big controversy after it is effected. To put it in one way, he doesn't mind batsmen backing up as it actually allows him to run-out people, he just doesn't like the fact that people think it is illegal or unsporting when backing up is similarly supposed to be unsporting. The fielding substitute in contrast is slightly controversial but completely legal.

I do agree that this substitute fielding issue must be more closely looked at. The issue is that no team is really going to raise a complaint about this as almost everyone invariably profits from it. If Kohli were to talk about this, he shall be faced with a barrage of questions on the numerous times India have utilized Jadeja as the twelfth man in tests and got away with it. The only way I can see a change is if we start having neutral physios at every match who gets to be the final authority on whether a substitute is allowed or not.[DOUBLEPOST=1604332855][/DOUBLEPOST]Oh my goodness that was absolutely beautiful from Siraj!

I'm pretty sure there's a rule in place that if a person is not fully fit they cannot take the field. I didn't see him have any on field incident. He finished his overs and conveniently left.

That is the thing though, unless you have a neutral physio out there you can't determine in an unbiased manner if a player is fit or not. It is quite easy to fake a minor inconvenience that gets you off the field to any umpire if it has to come down to that.

And just as I predicted, Delhi slowed down after Dhawan got out till they reached that 134 mark and only after that looked to be slightly more attacking. There was no real danger of either side losing their playoff chance today. The only side that can be happy after all of this fiasco is Mumbai, the only issue I see in their team is the lack of a quality sixth bowler and I doubt you need one when both of these sides have been sedate in recent times in the middle overs.

For all the hate that the likes of Kohli, Rahul, Pandey and now Pant garner for their non-aggressive approach to games these days, how does Shreyas get away with it? He has a strike-rate of around 120 with the last two seasons combined while it was well above 130 in the two seasons before that. Ridiculous that we have these plodders in the national squad when SKY who has been Mumbai's best batsman in the last three seasons isn't selected after improving his gameplay with an extra gear of middle overs and death overs hitting.

Another world class innings from Kohli today.

I don't even think the 'intent' was lacking today, he just looks clueless in the middle overs as to what he should do when his partner isn't being aggressive and he has to hit. His aggressive shots look so scratchy. Padikkal has to work on remaining fresh for all twenty overs too, this isn't the first time he has been heavily exhausted by the time he gets to a forty.

I personally feel the only hope RCB have is to free AB up. Open with Kohli and Paddikal, AB 3 and Moeen Ali 4.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't NRR calculated using wickets as well? I vaguely remember it being so but the formula (from Googling) doesn't take wickets into account.
Guess you're mixing the DLS with NRR, DLS is calculated with wickets in account.

He have got a lot of hate in the recent times after a random Kohli hater posted something on social media calling his stare to SKY as sledging. Since then Kohli fans have shown a lot of hate towards SKY which I think is wrong. It's the haters who have posted it so I don't get it why SKY should get the hate. This is another of those reasons why people don't want RCB to win this year's IPL.

Congrats KKR for qualifying, in advance.

Looks like the famous SRH reverse jinxing has started early in this game. :p
TBH, I don’t see SRH winning this unless Bumrah and/or Boult is rested.

I expect them to be rested most likely with QdK joining them too. We might even see Amnolpreet Singh in for one of the Indian regulars if they fancy it. SRH's motivation to win this game will be a lot higher than Mumbai's and that is something I think will prove key today.[DOUBLEPOST=1604409518][/DOUBLEPOST]Is Mumbai trolling us all with Rohit Sharma's training montages?

Yes, this is a proper attempt at reverse jinxing. However, you cannot deny the fact that MI start as favourites. A realistic number, I would say, would be 60-40 in favour of MI.

With Kulkarni and McClenaghan warming up, those odds should swing towards your lot. Add to that Rohit getting potentially injured in the game leaving them with just ten men and you see why I feel SRH may have a better chance today than they realize IMO.[DOUBLEPOST=1604410045][/DOUBLEPOST]Something that might be playing on Polly's mind will be the fact that he is the captain of a certain CPL side who happened to be owned by the same people over at Kolkata... :spy

Good luck SRH. Your superior NRR puts in a commanding position. Unlike other teams, you have fate in your own hands. If you perform well, you will be playing the play offs, if you do not, you will not. I personally will be rooting for Mumbai because I want KKR to qualify, also because its my hometown and second team to support after KKR.

Whatever will be the result, hope we have a cracker of the last group stage game, this IPL has been fantastic and hope it ends that way.
