Indian Premier League - General Discussion

Dube has done brilliantly this season. If he had half a supportive captain, he would be right up there. There's no reason for Morris to bat above him.

Why would you run two there oh AB! :(

MASSIVE! That run out will be the difference of 15 runs for sure. Good cameo by Shivam Dube as well.

Delhi should target scoring 134 runs first to ensure that they qualify without any issue. Even if you've got only two overs left at that point 19 runs off the last two with dew in play and one over potentially from Udana/Siraj should be very doable.

Gotta love Ashwin's standards. A batsman backing up is cheating but bowling 4 overs and then not fielding is not. :lol
I would love to see a stat of this. How many times has Ashwin left the field after bowling his quota or has been off field even while he has overs left.

I feel 152 might just be 10-15 runs short. The ground does not seem to have dew based on what I have been reading on cricinfo, so with Yuzi who has bowled and gotten the wicket at right time for RCB, would be crucial. Kohli's actual captainship will be tested yet again. Total not so high, he has to make sure even if they lose, they lose after 17.3 overs. If they DC chase this before 17.3 overs, RCB's NRR will be below KKR.

I don't see Delhi chasing this within 17.3 overs, I think there are more chances of Delhi being bowled out before that with how lacklustre their batsmen have been recently.

You do know that Rahane is playing today right?

No, I just found out after I said the same thing on a WhatsApp group. Regardless, this nonsense has been happening so frequently this IPL and last. It's the same with Gayle.

But Gayle is not giving moral science lessons on fair play. Is a batsman backing up a couple of inches cheating or someone bowling their quota of overs and then not fielding to get a fielder that's 10 times better? Watch him chase a ball today. Kohli took 3 off that and Pant was furious. How is this not cheating if that is?

The whole 'ethics' aura around Ashwin is just something he uses for publicity IMO. I don't remember the exact phrases he has used till now, but the thing he feels is unfair is the mankad being a big controversy after it is effected. To put it in one way, he doesn't mind batsmen backing up as it actually allows him to run-out people, he just doesn't like the fact that people think it is illegal or unsporting when backing up is similarly supposed to be unsporting. The fielding substitute in contrast is slightly controversial but completely legal.

I do agree that this substitute fielding issue must be more closely looked at. The issue is that no team is really going to raise a complaint about this as almost everyone invariably profits from it. If Kohli were to talk about this, he shall be faced with a barrage of questions on the numerous times India have utilized Jadeja as the twelfth man in tests and got away with it. The only way I can see a change is if we start having neutral physios at every match who gets to be the final authority on whether a substitute is allowed or not.[DOUBLEPOST=1604332855][/DOUBLEPOST]Oh my goodness that was absolutely beautiful from Siraj!

DC cruising here. But given their fragile lineup you never know what's in store. There's no Hetmyer today too so they are 1 batsman short.

Every season Rahane has a performance or two like this where he looks gorgeously classy.[DOUBLEPOST=1604335741][/DOUBLEPOST]FFS Dhawan always throws his wicket away with one too many sweeps or reverse sweeps.

Does not look like DC are going to chase this down in 3 overs and 2 balls. So I will have to wait until tomorrow to see if SRH wins or not. Its all KKR's fault though. The cricket they played in second half of IPL was poor.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't NRR calculated using wickets as well? I vaguely remember it being so but the formula (from Googling) doesn't take wickets into account.
