Indian Premier League - General Discussion

Every team has been set a limit by BCCI beyond which they cannot spend.
That's the reason they had to let go Cummins Buttler and co. That's what I meant. Even being the richest person in the country won't fetch you the all of the best. You will have to find the balance. That's the best thing about IPL.

They will give up kane and buy three more local middle order batsman which the same budget

I think he was good before becoming injury-prone. I can very well remember that 2014 tour where he made life incredibly difficult for both Dhoni and Kohli at peak form in a 300+ run-chase at Napier.

@SaiSrini can tell you how frustrating it is to see Jadhav in your side. :p

Everyone has a bad season. He loves CSK a lot so I can understand him being mad. But you cannot explain to me how a former India player doesn't make this side when it is in this kind of tatters.

They need to float Samad at 3 if a wicket falls in the PP. Otherwise, just be top heavy. On most occasions those 3 will bat 10-15 overs. That's enough to galvanise the innings.

They have to bring Kane in for Bairstow. Saha can guard the wickets instead. Since Pandey isn't working at 3, let him be given the finisher role again, which he does for India as well.

I'm not onboard with the plan of dropping the bloke who clearly looked to be a level above everyone else today.

Also for all the praise Williamson gets, he is not brilliant versus spin in the middle overs. Where I feel he might be good is staying in there like Kohli keeping the run rate ticking and then finishing the game off versus pacers. In all honesty, unless Saha returns to his form of last season, they need both Bairstow and Williamson in the XI.

Pandey as a finisher would also not work. Even for India, every innings I watched of him was not like the one from a modern finisher, but more of a classical finisher like Bevan.

They should go top heavy. Their best four batsman are all overseas and their domestic weakness is the batting. If Kane isn't fit, maybe even reunite Roy and Bairstow at the top and have Warner drop down.

Rashid Khan is massive player because he means they have one player who is very rarely going to get smashed. So back three seamers and then look to make up the other four overs between Shankar and Samad.

SRH has world class international players sitting in the dugout while the no Indian apart from Bhuvaneshwar looks promising from the 7 locals in the playing XI.

Williamson can play any bowling on any track. His game has evolved to the next level last 1-2 years.

It's true he's slow off the blocks sometimes, but Kane has improved his T20 game a lot in the last three years, he's been consistent with the bat ever since his 700 run season in 2018. In all honesty, he could do a whole lot better than the current lot that are there. Shankar is most effective if you bat him in the top 4, Samad has shown some glimpses of great power hitting but he hasn't been given many opportunities, same goes for Abhishek Sharma. Vijay Shankar has been a huge disappointment with the bat, as too Manish Pandey. All SRH need is some stability down the middle order, and Kane is by far the most capable one out of everyone in the squad. No Indian batsman in that middle order has proven to provide some stability, so I think going top heavy is the best option available. If Kane does what he does and hold up one end, it allows the rest to attack from the other end. It's pretty evident that our tail begins starting from #3 this season, and the tail always need someone holding one end.

A mega auction might help SRH's batting core, but I wouldn't say its a mess on paper. A lot of the experienced Indian players have failed to perform and provide some stability especially down the order which isn't the fault of the bench strength. They do have to make the tough decision of releasing one of Kane, Warner and Bairstow for the sake of team balance. Likely Kane will be let go because Warner is pretty dedicated to the SRH franchise.

What a dull and lull fest this IPL has been. Absolutely boring. Score 150, opponents flourish, lose wicket and lose match. I get it that the pitches will get used after repeated matches at the same venue but this is truly boring. Also SRH sucks high time. The team is so dull that I feel no interest in watching them. They have so many "bits and pieces players". Dropping Nattu today was absolutely a shit decision. Is Kane injured? If not not playing him is an absolutely shit decision. Especially when WArner is himself in not best of form.

At this point, SRH have to be barking mad not to play all 3 of their gun overseas batters. Saha has proven he can do the business but they're just impatient as hell with him. Once that happens, Baristow becomes as important as anyone because someone needs to be wicketkeeping. They cannot ask one of the bowlers to do it.

Tbh Kedar's contribution isn't worthy enough of a T20 player in the last 2-3 seasons. We often seem to over rate the six that he hit to Mustafizur Rahman in the last over after being injured and coming out to bat in the last over.

Kedar's issue is strike rotation. The fact is the kind of batsman he is, he doesn't get to rotate the strike. And in recent years he is tied down very easily with the lack of boundaries. He has had back to back seasons where he failed to even strike at a 100. There is a reason why a team like CSK would leave out a massively experienced player like Jadhav.

He is rather just a waste of a spot just like how Yuvraj Singh was in 2018 & 2019 season for KXIP & MI respectively. In my opinion SRH bought him on the basis of his reputation and his past performance in his prime.
