Indian Premier League - General Discussion

Saha is so committed to test cricket that he is playing test knock in IPL. I hope the India team management will see his dedication to test cricket and will give him a chance in the upcoming test series vs NZ.

This track and the track yesterday just kills the concept of playing at Sharjah, it was supposed to be a run-fest ground. Abu Dhabi and Dubai were doing enough for the bowler-friendly nature...

Anyways loving to watch tho, at least it's not a walk-through for anyone.

What a mess SRH have been this season. This team management has killed Warner's confidence, disrespectful to the guy who's been the face of SRH for 5+ years by ridding him of the captaincy. Getting rid of Warner's captaincy tag had looked like it might needed to happen in the first half of the IPL, but judging by this body language it's made him worse a player this season. SRH need to revamp the entire batting order next season, Pandey scores at a snail's pace most of the time, and this will definitely be Jadhav's last IPL season. For the time he played, Mr 3D Shankar hasn't been shown any dimensionality in his game for the past few seasons. The bowling attack has been slightly off this season but I'd put that down to the lack of batting performances from SRH to not give any good targets to bowl at.

I agree. Dropping Warner from captaincy mid season has shattered his confidence and his interest towards the franchise. He would mentally not want to be associated with them again, though he won't show it. I wonder why did SRH even go after Kedar Jadhav after the horror show he had with CSK. He was a meme factory!! And its time franchises see the perennial problem of Manish Pandey. Its amazing how he never seems to get the gears of T20 cricket despite multiple seasons of unrelenting criticisms.

Very sad state of affairs for SRH. It looks like they will need a complete overhaul. Waner is a bit of a tricky pick. I don't remember if it was a removal or he stepped down but if it's the former then I think Warner himself might be interested in moving to a different franchise. That would be unfortunate as he has been exemplary for SRH barring this season.

How dependent is SRH on David Warner. The fact that they can think of dropping and removing him from the team is just stupid.

Rewinding to 2020, SRH, (and Delhi of course) was the only team who could have given Mumbai Indians a challenge in the trophy, and to see the same team in this state the next season is just absurd. The only difference between then and now, is the fact that Warner hasn't been firing.

I would still like to see them go ahead by retaining Warner, Williamson and Rashid next season (if it is allowed to retain 3 overseas). Sadly, this would mean leaving out Bhuvi but that's how it should happen according to me.

Saha played a good knock in terms of the situation there. He was the glue that kept the lineup together till the end.

SRH's issues actually goes back to last season when they found it hard to fit KW into their line-up and Manish Pandey was consistent with his lack of aggression. Their middle order lacked intent and stability. So I don't find it surprising to see them in this state at all.

Warner's lack of runs is just one of those many problems that SRH are dealing with right now. Their actual problem is unavailability of a reliable local batter. And till the time they don't find it they are going to struggle.

Exactly. This problem has continued since the day SRH left Yuvraj. They had a golden opportunity to fix the issue this IPL auction, when Karun Nair was going unsold, but they went for the wrong unsold batter (Kedar Jadhav)

Because Karun Nair is doing so well.

Kedar Jadhav is stealing a living though. He should be given a mentor role if they really want him around that much.

SRH is the best.

They traded Shikhar to Delhi for Shankar, Nadeem, and Abhishek. They must have taken advice from MSK Prasad.

That trade was due to a clear disagreement between the SRH Management and Shikhar Dhawan, with the latter wanting to go play for Delhi because SRH bought Shikhar for a low price in the auction. They were forced to do so since Shikhar Dhawan was "unsetteled" with the low amount he was bought for in the auction. (Just around 4 crores).
