Indian Premier League - General Discussion

Shreyas Iyer to lead RCB? Heard rumors of RCB saving approx 20 crores to spend on Iyer.

They need a captain for sure! But that's the statement I would expect from Punjab, not RCB :D

Iyer will go for big bucks. Most of the franchisees might want to have him- RCB, PBKS, KKR are all looking for captains. SRH might be tempted to go after given they have an Indian captaincy choice.

For me though, I feel Iyer might be snapped up by either of Mumbai or Chennai- groom him as the leader under Rohit/ MSD and let him carry on in the seasons to come. Might do him a lot of good as well in his India captaincy ambitions.

Will depend on where he comes. If he’s at the top, Zinta/PBKS will throw money on him like water.

Did anyone see Ashwin’s interview of Richard Madley (the earlier auctioneer) that came out few days ago? Richard tore into Punjab’s auction strategy . Ashwin tried hard not to laugh (since he captained Punjab for 2 years) :D

Shreyas Iyer for anything more than 10C will be risky despite his captaincy potential. Feels like he has stagnated as a T20 batter since his Daredevil days. If anything, teams should throw the kitchen sink at Kishan.

Iyer to KKR and captain them. I expect them to go crazy on him.

Hasaranga and Peter Willey will go to CSK. I think they will also go for Washi Sundar. Expecting them to get a foreign opener and I think they will pursue Even Lewis for the same.

Thank heavens I am done with that franchise called RCB. They are openly talking strategies on their YT channel.

All these franchises going HAM on looking for a captain should go for Jinks. I feel he will be a bargain purchase and a very very good skipper.

I think CSK and RCB might have a bidding war on Ishan Kishan with KXIP finally going insane and bidding 18 odd crores.

The one problem with picking Hasaranga is the age old "Tamil Nadu - Sri Lanka Eelam politics". This year the IPL might be played in Maharashtra, but in the upcoming years, IPL will definitely come to Chepauk and it'll become a controversy and protestors will create all sorts of drama to ensure that no Sri Lankan player plays on Chennai soil. Its ugly, its annoying and I dont prescribe to it, but its the irritating fact.

Who's Peter Willey by the way? I hope CSK goes for Washington Sundar and Even Lewis. Been long since we had a dashing WI opener at the top (Dwayne Smith). Also a left hander and gets in the variety.

If Rajasthan buy back Rahane, it would be the most ironic buys, as they let him go and they kept falling deeper, thereby proving that Rahane wasn't the problem.

Doubt CSK will get into a war with Kishan. I just dont see CSK getting interested in the "hype buys" as they've rarely done that in IPL history. But I could be wrong and I will be happy if Kishan comes to Yellow. :D

Lomror and Ripal Patel looks good.
Tilak is still young.
The other tow definitely has some power but I don't think they would be as effective as that against better bowling.

Do you know who is one of the partners in crime for Lomror?
Hood hood Hooda!

I read on Cricinfo that few players might be up for the auction through a secret bid. Well- that sounds a little interesting!

By the term secret bid I can understand that the teams are going to submit a list of players with the amount they are willing to spend on that player. Now if 2 teams come up with similar amounts for a certain player then there would be a second round bid where the team that comes up with a higher bid gets to retain the player.

Correct me if wrong
