Indian Premier League - General Discussion

Back to back keeper signings for Gujarat Titans after having none in the squad till now

Given they had such a large purse at the start, this has been a disappointing auction by SRH. They've always lacked experienced Indian batsmen and the only acquisition that barely comes close to that is Tripathi. Should've pushed hard for Shikhar Dhawan at the top, and I think Dinesh Karthik would've been a great purchase to bat in that 5/6 spot. The past foreign imports for SRH have been solid for a few years now but this is a total downgrade this year. Pooran is consistently inconsistent, Markram was average for PK last year. Thankfully, the bowling attack looks quite good although it'd be impossible to cover for the threat Rashid posed to other teams. It's baffling that they'd buy three players like Abbott, Shepherd and Jansen knowing that they've got more or less the same skillsets. Should've not gotten Abbott and instead gone for a Tim David or even Glenn Phillips.

Best possible XI:

Tripathi
Garg/Abishek?
Williamson
Markram
Pooran
Samad
Washy
Shepherd/Jansen
Bhuvi
Natarajan
Malik/Tyagi/Gopal

Clearly lacking local experience if one of Markram/Pooran were to go out and even someone to partner Tripathi at the top.

They've tried to buy a lot of players :p

Chris Jordan goes to CSK!!! Bravo backup!! Pretty good. CSK exhaust their overseas picks. Along with the buy back of Jaggi and Nishaanth, rounds the team off pretty good.

I doubt if we can get one more Indian leggie. If we do, we’d be set. Good we didn’t look at Karn Sharma

Another OS pacer for SRH. YAY!

SRH's strategy has been mind boggling. And I thought their 2018 auction was weird enough with the surfeit of pacers they had. This is even worse.

A bit miffed that we opted for Jordan. Wanted us to get a couple of domestic bowlers and sign an overseas batter like Rassie instead. Relying on Rayudu/Uthappa is a risky endeavour even if I'm a fan of Rayudu and think he is underrated.

Sai Sudarshan not being bought is also strange. Thought he would have got a base price bid after his TNPL heroics. Did not expect Asalanka to not be signed after being called back again. The bloke can bat in the middle order and can bowl part-time too. What else do you need?
