Indian Premier League - General Discussion

Rahul is the worst batsman.

While Rahul played a great knock, he tends to do this where he will not take his team home. No matter how great of a batsman you are, if you cannot finish for your side, you remain mediocre. Also this match should have not come this close, some good bowling by Harshal. I really want RCB to reach the finals (RR is the final hurdle) and win the trophy. Hardik has achieved everything this IPL, Virat needs a small W to get him going.

So RR vs RCB next.. hmm Samson vs Faf... you know who I am going to support :p!

And You my friend need to take a chill pill.

Some clown comes out and trolls a country and a player on a forum and I need to chill? I see crap, I call it out.

Faf just feels like ZEN!

People using adjectives for Rahul! He took the game as deep as possible and he has one good over and the game is over. Bizarre overreaction. He has his overthinking slow innings but this was a calculated one and it just did not work out.

Someone please sort out the batting order of LSG for me. Why did Holder not play?

Choked some trolling pills yourself eh? Practice what you preach! Lets get away from name calling people part of this forum, rest KL can be a choker for life

Great win that from RCB! Gotta put that down to the brilliance of Rajat Patidar! At one stage, RCB were going slow and the way Patidar tore into Bishnoi in that 27 run over set the stage for this!

Looks like reverse jinx works for me only when its CSK! I wanted GT to win last game and RCB to win today, and both happened! :D

But dont you think Rahul's approach is in conflict with the kind of player that he is? It is he who needs to be the basher while designating someone else to be sheet anchor. Rahul is way more effective when he assumes aggressor role. He is a game changer if he adopts the "I am going to tear into the bowlers" approach.

I think that should be his role in the India jersey and there is no doubt that some of the criticism of him is very justified. I myself have done it. But, if anyone saw the full game last night it was obvious that with 5 overs 60 to get LSG was in the box seat. Every single pitch (not just the square on the Eden but even the practice tracks) are just graveyards now for the bowlers. To add to this, there is dew over here in abundance.

It is absolutely obvious that once de Kock got out, Rahul had to shepherd the chase. If both fall, LSG clearly go in a shell shock mode. As I said, 5 overs 62 to get was a walk and all Rahul needed was to come off in one over. Rajat Patidar had a couple of overs where he completely demolished LSG and that's all Rahul really needed. Buttler had a bit of the same in the first eliminator. It isn't crazy to think a well set batter on that wicket could get 20-30 of an over and it's a different game then.

As I said, he is not the complete batsman yet and his game is definitely short of great when chasing but some of the adjectives used here are petty and pathetic. Criticism of a lot of his pedestrian T20 knocks are justified but some people need to realise that this isn't a console game played in the comfort of their living rooms. It's elite level sport and mistakes happen. Kohli who I think had a season in 2016 which will never be repeated and he had that trophy in his pocket in the final and chasing a similar 210 odd gave it away. It happens. In 200+ chases it almost becomes essential that you have one guy bat through with one finisher to catch up the RRR at the end and I felt LSG actually lost the game with their fielding, unbelievable batting order and stupid team selection.

There are no more games in Kolkata but you just HAVE TO play 6 bowlers here with 4 quicks. I still feel that the difference in the RR and GT game was the 2 overs Pandya could bowl. I have been saying for centuries now that Pandya & Jadeja together comprise our 5th bowler. If we had followed this in the 19 WC, a lot of our issues wouldn't be existing today.

Listen to DK on RCB's feed. He clearly says that Rahul was the wicket they wanted and DK felt he was setting up to go deep and then attack. It just did not come off.
