Indian Premier League - General Discussion

Is there anyone else that believes that Maxwell is to blame for that RCB loss/total?

Wouldn't go as far as to say that he was the reason but his wicket did feel like a pivotal moment. Wasn't entirely in control of his innings and RCB completely lost their bearings after he was dismissed.

Siraj had a terrible IPL this year.

He conceded 514 runs at SR of 168 whereas RCB highest run getter scored 468 runs ar SR of 127.5.

This is more like the frustration of an RCB fan taking over. And I think that's natural when you always had the team but the results don't fall in place. So more like we try to find some flaw in something.

From my POV, RR were just prepared for everything that was put forth across them by RCB. As usual it looked like RCB were just clueless. I think they started off a little too slow but I also think the bowling in those initial overs was just perfect. Then they lost Kohli followed by Faf. So that desperation/panic started to kick in due to that slow run rate. Now had Maxwell not played that innings RCB wouldn't have managed even 145-150. He was just unlucky that he got out but he came out with a right mindset to go after the bowling.

Moreso I feel like RCB were just a little overconfident after their win against LSG and they felt it would be a walkover to beat RR. Also Siraj's form throughout the tournament was questionable.

Boult was brought on for the purpose to dismiss him and the plan/set up was clear as day. They kept fine leg back and bowled it into the wicket hoping he does exactly what he did or attempt a massive reverse ramp to top edge. He tried that too but his luck ran out on the last ball of Boult's last over. Really really really poor. For all his talent I really feel that in terms of adaptability and reading of a situation, Maxwell's game never crossed level 1.

Lot of nostalgia at play today!!! Record crowds after a pandemic nightmare of 2 years, Ravi Shastri at the toss.

Not sure of Sanju’s decision to bat first. GT already have built a reputation of chasing from impossible situations. And on fresher pitches, chasing always helps. Let’s see….

Interesting call to bat first on this surface by Sanju. Considering how the new ball behaves in the evening over here in Ahmedabad, I fell it's a bold call. Maybe they trust their batting and their spinners to deliver. I feel anything around 170 is going to be par today.

Also that noise of the crowd is just overwhelming!!!
