Faf may not field in 2nd inning same what mumbai did with Rohit - Surya

Is he injured? Don’t see any other reason as to why you’d want to bench one of the best mid on/off fielders in IPL history.

On the other hand why do you allow reviewing for wides if the third umpire is just gonna reiterate what the umpire says? Ashwin has every right to be aggrieved with that decision.

RCB lower order needs an upgrade.

The likes of DK, lomror , Shahbaz ain't looking good this season.

Should sent Hasaranga early IMO.

I'm somehow not in favour of Virat being asked to lead. If you are going to sub out Faf, he can be subbed out whilst he is captain,no need to have Kohli or anyone else walk out at the toss.

Who do you think should be the on field captain then whilst bowling? :p

DK and Lomror are both one dimensional batters at this stage, faring well only in specific situations against specific types of bowlers. Shahbaz is being shoehorned into a utility player which is turning him into another one dimensional batter instead of being given a good role to play in.

Did the third umpire nearly call a wide as a no ball on review before being corrected off mic by the broadcasters? That’s surprisingly incompetent…

Dont get me wrong. In all likelihood the deputy would have been either Kohli/DK/Maxwell. My point is do it when you sub out the captain.

Nominating VK as full time captain instead of Faf therefore doesn't make sense.

What the impact sub has also done, is brought to the fore the 'non-playing captain'. Largely expected that CSK will employ this tactic sometime this year, if Ruturaj is asked to lead instead of MSD. From a CSK perspective, I feel Rahane might just step in for Dhoni if he is subbed out

I don't even think you're allowed to sub out the captain you named on the teamsheet. Besides, Virat is just filling in until Faf is fit enough to field.

I assume that the captain is supposed to be someone you can’t sub off or in unless they’re injured.

CSK aren’t subbing off Dhoni unless he has an injury struggle either. His value is as a keeper and someone directing the field and bowlers in the death overs, instructing spinners in the middle overs and coming in to smash a boundary or two in the last two overs. Those aren’t roles you should be using a sub for.

Ashwin ruined this match by taking 2 runs in final over...

I can only assume Ashwin instructed Jurel to hand him the strike if possible. Using his senior experience to justify that decision is poor even if it may have come from a position of wanting to protect Jurel from harsh criticism in the event he failed to close the chase himself if he stayed on strike.
