I dont know about anyone else, but I am just not feeling enough excitement for IPL 2021. It probably has to do with the fact that it is happening so soon after IPL 2020 and the very obvious looming threat of pandemic ruining everything which has really pulled down my excitement. The articles about security and bubbles not being as tight as the ones in UAE are really worrying and it feels like a ticking time bomb just waiting to blow off and ruin the whole tournament.

Plus I feel the players are going to be severely fatigued - both Indian and overseas, and the cricketing standards in general will be poor. I hope I get more into it as the tournament progresses

I know the commentary standards for hardcore cricket fans has gone down in general, but I think repetitive clichés and obvious humor are needed for the casual fan, especially when covering white ball cricket. I was recently watching Ind-Eng ODI final, last few overs with all of the family - dad, mom, sister, wife, bro in law and this almost never happens. And the ladies who are casual fans or non followers were able to pick up on the proceedings because the commentary wasn't too complicated and was covering the basics of the situation. The clichéd comments on the tactics were appreciated because they were easy to understand. You need that sort of commentary as well besides the expert analysis to keep the casual viewer engaged, else it can start going over the head and cause disinterest.

Cricket is no more for a select few enthusiasts. It's a global event. With millions of audience. And things are now being finalised keeping in mind these millions of people.

T20 itself, was a result of this exact thing.

We are a side that starts performing once the momentum comes towards us. And this is the magic that our skipper worked out over the years with this side. People like Kumble and Jayawardene have been a great help to this side while somone like Ponting is the reason why our core is so strong. Bumrah, Hardik & Krunal were unknown entities until Ponting picked them up put into this side.

Ah! Thankfully CSK scooped in at the right time and did not wait for the tournament to progress before making the signing. Behrendorff is a good signing. Though I hear he's not a death bowler, still he is in good form from the BBL and the left arm angle can help. I think the likes of Curran, Chahar are already being groomed for death overs and we have Shardul, Bravo and Ngidi to choose from for the death. Not the greatest of options but I think Dhoni can optimize resources to fullest if he still has his "shotgun" leadership skills intact.
