Lol, Smith bowling.

I really like his action. Straight back, pivots on the front foot, bowls very slowly though. Doesn't seem to be ripping the ball a great deal either.

Just as I type he turns the last one sharply out of the rough. Interesting.

Well, just hoping India won't lose many wickets here and draw it comfortably. It would not be ending the tour on a high but the way India played the whole series, they should be pleased with it.

Another tour on SA land is going to be over and India remains without any series victory there.

Paul Harris is boring the batsmen here. I think that's his main weapon - bore the batsmen with balls that don't spin for hours and they may try and hit him n he'll get a wicket.

It's a shame for the series to end with a boring day to what has been a great test. You can't really blame India for not going after it. But it was surprising not to see Sehwag at least have a dash.

The pitch is just ridiculously spicy for spinners now. The batsmen are really tentative against Harris. If they had a bowler of Bhajji's quality I think they'd have ripped right through this batting line up. When you have 5 fielders around you, I'd really try and whack the guys out of my eye line. Not let the spinner bowl at you. Sachin's defensive play against left arm spinners is poor.

My synopsis of India's gains and disappointments from this SA tour

Most heartening - Gambhir. His first tour in SA and so brilliantly he adjusted to conditions after a very torrid 1st innings display. He is another giant in the making and would serve India well in future years. Though needs to improve his fitness and raise his fielding standards.

Dhoni's ability to show some resistance when the odds were stacked heavily against his style of play, was also very good to see. Unfortunate to miss out on a 100 in 1st test match.

Most Disappointing - Dravid's run of low scores. Yes hes been getting out to good balls, but all throughout his career he has managed to survive much difficult conditions than these. He doesn't look like the same rock solid batsmen any more :(

Sehwag. Many people have opinions about him. But Sehwag as batsmen has grown leaps and bounds in the last couple of years. To thread a gap when 4 fielders are trying to cut-off the boundary at point, takes talent, a lot of it. But very disappointed of how only in 1 inning he managed to score something of substance.

Dhoni as captain- Either hes too leninant or he is just in a world of his own. Afterall he is head n shoulders above every other player in terms of yearly paychecks. Can't understand why when he could call for a meeting on field to lecture Sree on his antics, but not when things are going awry in terms of opposition gaining advantage. I was hugely disappointed of how a no 1 team got thrashed in 1st test match especially their manner of display whilst fielding, and then to give it all away in the last 2 sessions of 4th day of 3rd test match. Need for a change is becoming more n more evident.

Dude, don't analyse the series before it's over ! These are nervous times. Big big big pressure now on Laxman, Sachin, and Dhoni. Once the tail gets in they'll get wrapped up in no time on this wicket. Argh.

11 off 40 balls from Sehwag? I didnt expect that from him. I thought he never changes his natural game and plays only aggressively. On a day when we needed him to play aggressively, is this how he plays? So he knows to play the slow game, but he just doesnt do it when we need him to. Moronic! Sehwag is just so over hyped. He is not any legend of the game. Just a player who makes hay while the sun shines.

I would be quite happy with a 1-1 scoreline (if and when it happens). We have lost all series in SA so far in the history of cricket. This is the first time we will/might leave SA without losing a series. It might not instantly prove we are deserving No.1 but atleast we would have deferred the verdict to the upcoming England and Australia tours. After a Centurion drubbing, we have played superbly enough to be there at No.1.

Good to see India comfortably draw here, was expecting them to collapse and Laxman again saving our face.

Thats a bit harsh, even I was surprised by Sehwag's approach but i think India already decided that draw was possibly their best chance and they needed to see off the new ball before any wicket falls and he just did that.

Last year, SA in IND got the result 1-1.

This year, IND in SA is probs going to get the result 1-1.

Not much separating these two teams.

Just my opinion on your analysis -

Gambhir - Remember Gambhir didnt play at Durban where it was the toughest of conditions to bat on. And in the first innings at Centurion where it was hard work, he failed. In the second innings (after SA got to 620/4), he scored a 80 in the easiest of batting conditions of the test. Same here in Newlands. He batted on Day 2 when the pitch was pretty easy to bat on, and today. He is definitely much better than Murali Vijay (some ppl will start thinking I am saying all this to indirectly support my Chennai player, Vijay) but I want to see Gambhir score a really tough hundred on a pitch that does quite a bit.

Dravid - According to me, the CHAPTER IS OVER!

Sehwag - Have posted about him above. Total disappointment this series! Considering that we are close to making it 1-1 without almost any of his contributions, I just am forced to imagine what would have been if he had clicked in 1-2 innings in a big way.

Dhoni - Cant be changed. We dont have an even closer option to Dhoni in the near vicnity. A 1-1 scoreline in SA is good enough, and maybe we might have done far better had he been given a warmup before the Centurion test. Not the time to be blaming Dhoni much.
