I doubt India could ever produce a quality fast bowler, with flat tracks all over India all coach tend to tell their bowlers to maintain line-length and forget pace. Thats the mentality the players are grown with.

They should import one, just like the other countries do :p

Sometimes i worry about the future of India middle-order when Tendy/Dravid/Laxman eventually go.

Of course for the past 20 years those 3 along with Ganguly & Azharuddin gave Indians its golden era of middle-order batsmen who where quality batsmen all-round the world (although Ganguly & Azhar had their issues overseas).

But they few times in the last 20 years when some other batsmen outside of that fantatic 5 played in the middle-order such as Kambli, Amre, Jadeja, Yuvraj, Bhardwaj, Kanitkar, Badani, Kaif, Raina, Pujara (to date) in test. They all struggle to look the part in test against real pace - a historical achilles heel for IND batsmen.

Middle order batting talent is not a big worry. Worry is if youngsters are not let in the team at right times. Jadeja, Yuvraj, Badani, Kaif .. names you mentioned all scored at a decent rate in First Class level, but never as heavily as some of the youngsters are scoring these days. Pujara, Rahane, Sharma, Kohli are scoring truckloads of runs and they have age on their side to develop their game to be decent against real pace you mentioned.

Just need to be careful that one or two of these youngsters shuld have established their places in Test team before the last of the trio (Dravid/Ten'kar/Laxman) is out.

Major problem. Any young chap we place our hopes on, becomes unsuccessul on international stage.
We don't even have top quality spinners pushing Bhajji out of the team when he runs thru an extended bad form and with fast bowlers its an even dire situation.

In the World Cup forum I pointed out that Harbhajan no longer had the record to be considered a first-choice ODI bowler - and raised Ojha and Ashwin as the alternatives. There was a torrent of disagreement and very little support. If he's sacred to the more knowledgeable fans, he will be even moreso to the selectors.

In the pace department, it's much too early to give up on Ishant Sharma for one. He's got time to go back to first-class for a couple of years, and come back (to Tests) better than ever. And he's still one of the best ODI pacemen you've got.

I've been saying that for a while. There must be loads of Pakistani fast bowlers across the border. Too bad you both have an irrational hatred of the other. It's a perfect opportunity for both sides, you lot need a fast bowler, and they need to get the hell out of Pakistan :p

I still have hope that we will find one guy in the coming years who will bowl fast and be good. We cant remain like this forever. Its the law of averages theory used in a different way here.:p

We already have Ishant, Sreesanth and Unadkat, guys. Let's not get greedy here.

I would love to see rp singh back as he is suited fine in the African conditions or any away conditions

Just because he was successful in the 2nd edition of IPL doesn't make him the best Indian bowler in South Africa. Sreesanth and Nehra are obviously better than him.

RP Singh? Well even I can go out there and bowl (I am a left arm medium pacer too).:p

I'm waiting to see Umesh Yadav (The only reason I'm going to watch IPL). I know he isn't in contention as far as international arena is concerned. But, I'm keen to see if his pace is right up there. He can be a very good option if (again) we look after him. Really don't want anyone to go Ishant, Munaf way.

Indeed, although he came to have a pretty serious problem with getting carted, there were definitely times where we saw real class from him and it was clear that he could at least get wickets. Sreesanth has come a long way, so there's no reason why RP Singh, who is 2 years younger, should not still be one for the future.

Vijay :facepalm only fit for IPL stuff.

And seriously poor start by India though they lost just 1 wicket, they needed to be more positive instead of being so defensive like this.
