Was wondering if SA will look to play 5 specialist bowlers in the WC as well like they are in this ODI series.
Thought one of Albie/McLaren might get a go in Kallis' absence, but they decide to play an extra bowler (Parnell) instead.Botha isn't really an AR who can bat at #7.
Or are they just mocking the usually mediocre Indian bowling attack? :p

It's an interesting approach. Looking to chase or set lowish totals. Something South Africa isn't know for, we generally go out and target 350 or something.

Starting to think Vijay is over rated by the selectors, more so than Rohit Sharma.

Time for Murali Vijay to stay away from the team, he should be nowhere near the team now. He has shown good temperament at test level, let him flourish here and keep him away from the team.
He is becoming the Marcus North of India.

I think they would still be capable of such scores. Oct 31 2008 was the last time a number 7 scored 50 in an ODI for South Africa, showing that it's been a supporting position even with batsmen there. I think it's a sensible idea. For a side with such good batting up the order, the 7th batsman doesn't improve the team as much as the fifth bowler.

Vijay looked pretty gud and at par with international standards on Indian pitches (Test performances) but is now exposed.
Even VVS hangs on backfoot all the time but hes very gud with wrists to compensate for tht. My big concern is with our rising star of last 2 years, Raina, he still can't work out his awkwardness against short-pitched bowling, which is now starting to play on his front foot play too.:noway

not watching it but tsotsobe really has just come alive on the international scene. Potential to make a big impact at the world cup.

India look pretty guff all of a sudden.

Oh dear, this was gonna happen. Putting pressure on middle order batsmen by scoring so slowly first up and again losing quick wickets.

Zak :facepalm , why can't they just give rohit the strike and let him do the hitting.

This must be one of the worst batting powerplays ever, especially given that India's position wasn't that bad.

Again failed to reach even 200 on a much better pitch and condition than durban

Only positive from this game is Yuvi's form, he looked pretty good, didn't give it away today.

I've been thinking the same thing for a while now. You'll always have one of your specialist bowlers having a off day, going at 1-1.5 rpo more than the rest. You can't afford some all-rounder to do the same (or even worse). Especially since very few of these all-rounders score the same amount of runs back over the same amount of overs (when they really should be scoring more at a higher tempo). I've never been a fan of the Albie Morkels in cricket. It just does not make mathematical sense.
