What will the result of the Test series be?

A bigger problem for India will also be taking wickets I think. Batsmen like ABDV, Graeme Smith etc will not be too troubled by any of the Indian seamers bar Zak, and he will probably injure himself in the 1st Test.

Lol he probably will.

I have hope for Sreesanth though. He has more discipline with the ball, and we all saw what he did at the Wanderers last time around. Now, of course, that doesn't garuntee he'll do well here, but he definitely likes the conditions; now it's just variation and accuracy. If he doesn't get those perfect, he has no chance against ABDV or Amla.

It's still better to reach SA earlier, it will help them to adjust.
Also Van Zyl says CL experience won't help India but I think it would.

His opinion about the pace and bounce of the pitches used for cl and ipl are perfectly valid imho. Those tournaments were played at the end of the season when the pitches were slow.

This series is in the middle of the SA summer.

Duminy,Parnell and Botha have been released from the SA squad. So the only selection question left is whether mcclaren or tsotsobe plays or if its a green top harris gets left out.

You dont seem to respect the Indian seamers one bit. Just hope you are brutally proved wrong. Sreesanth and Ishant have the ability to prove you wrong on more helpful pitches.

^Well if he can bowl at 150 KPH, he should play the first test tbh. Thats what would have happened if he was playing for Pakistan.

Speed is not all about fast bowling.

I'm not the only one, very few people respect any Indian seamer besides Zak and there is good reason for that.

They suck.

Even looking at it objectively, they are one of the worst and most boring fast bowling attacks I have ever seen. Half the time they only play 2 seamers in a Test match, it's pathetic.

I don't know what the big deal is with the extra pace - if you're real quick but spraying it all over the place, it gets you nowhere. Remember Brett Lee when he first started or Mitch Johnson as he is now. I think lots of pace but lack of direction is not threatening enough in Tests. That's probably part of the reason why Tait has success in limited overs international cricket but not in tests.

Talking about Waqar and Wasim - yes Waqar tended to spray it around but he also had killer swing. From my earliest memories of Wasim, I don't remember him missing his lengths or line too much.

I kind of agree with the Indian approach to pace bowling - with or without genuine pace, your best chance of taking test wickets is accuracy and bowling consistently in good areas. If you can swing or seam it, even better.

Absolutely. Too much focus is given to speed. If the ball is sprayed at such pace, it will disappear even faster/

Van Zyl can say all he wants, to try and unsettle us. We have had so much of a taste of SA conditions in the past years (with the CLT20, IPL-II, Champions Trophy, etc) that we should not feel too alienated to the conditions.

Because you have seen them bowl most of the time on flat and lifeless subcontinent wickets.

WHERE ARE THOSE WHO ARGUED THAT GETTING BACK HIS RHYTHM IN A POINTLESS ODI SERIES VS NEWZEALAND WERE MORE IMPORTANT????:mad:mad:facepalm:facepalm

This thing always happens with this guy. The guy doesnt know about his own body. When everyone was advicing him on twitter as to why he is risking himself in those 2 ODI games, he said it was best for him and his rhythm. Now if he doesnt play the first test, he is going to receive a huge barrage of criticism from his twitter followers and everyone concerned about Indian cricket. Absolutely poor stuff!! Just when we need him so crucially, he might let us down as usual (whats with him getting injured after going on an overseas tour?)

It's not the first time, ZAKs been injured for a crucial series, and it won't be the last. Ishant and RP singh picked up the slack for him in Australia.

We might as well go with Yadav/Unadkat as we all know every Indian bowler starts off with a bang and then go unnoticed.

We should play Unadkat at Centurion and yadav at Durban.

I personally thought Mithun was real good. He's taking wickets by the bucketful in Ranji cricket. He's been snubbed by the unproven, untested, uneverything Undrakant fella tho...

ok Im confused then, who was that recent left arm seamer that got his debut?

Nobody. Jaidev Unadkat is a left arm seamer but is yet to play an international match.

Maybe you are getting confused with Wahab Riaz or Mohammad Irfan :p?

haha nah maybe I just thought he was a left armer. Mithun has made a test debut right?
