Terrific Practice @ Bangalore.
Myself with my RCB team mate Anil Kumble started planning the Training camp. Our basic thing was to make fielding perfect. We had some tips from Gary Kirsten and Indian Seniors as they came to Bangalore to play a match against Sri Lanka. I had a class by Sachin Tendulkar & MS Dhoni on handling different types of situations. Dhoni said," You're the skipper of a defending Champion team and there would be some pressure on you. You don;t worry about it as its still Under 19s. You aren't the Defending Champions as India U-19 had different set of players when we won it. So, only in people mind, you're defending champions but not literally. Don't get pressurized every now and then and don;t hesitate in making bowling changes and give the ball to part timers if the batsmen are hammering the main bowlers." Sachin Sir said," Well, I guess I'll be in Australia at midst of Tournament as I have to attend a surgery of my body at Australia and you know that I'm not playing for India for two months, I'll be with you.:banana2."
I was feeling happy and he asked me to keep it confidential for his personal reasons, which I din't ask.
We had some pretty hard core practice along with Indian Seniors. We had even some created controversies from Harbhajan Singh as he said that they are common in Australia and he said us some tips on how to get rid of those things. Overall, we had a great day of practice with two days to go to end the camp.

The second day of Practice Camp
​

We were in the second day of the practice camp at Bengaluru. The Match between India and Sri Lanka was scheduled to take place on that day. We had pretty cool practice along with Team India for one last time. And I mainly concentrated on Batting. Maneria was even batting beside me. I played some class strokes for 20 to 25 overs. And then, we couldn't practice as the India and Sri Lanka teams came on to ground, occupied for their practice. And we all were introduced to the Fans at Bengaluru before the toss. I was invited for a small conversation with Ravi Sastry:banana2.


Ravi Sastry:" Well mate, how are you feeling.? Leading India in under 19's in such a high profile tournament, what are you feeling.?"
Me: "Actually, I was shocked to listen that I'll be leading the under 19 side and the was I came to know, it was amazing."
Ravi Sastry (interrupted): "Can you briefly explain how??"
Me: " Yeah, sure. After I batted for NSW Blues at MCG and when I returned, I saw many missed calls in my mobile. I called back my bro and he congratulated. I thought he congratulated me for winning the match, but when he asked "When are you coming?", I was confused.:confused:. I asked what was he asking about. He replied to have a look at cricinfo site for more details. When I checked it, I was named the captain."
Ravi Sastry: "Well, How is the preparation going and what is your main strategy?"
Me: "Preparation is going well under Jumbo bhai and our main strategy is "Respect the good balls and punish the bad balls".
Ravi Sastry: "Good luck mate. Hope you keep up the title called DEFENDING CHAMPIONS"
Me: "Cheers mate, Thanks"

Ooh. I was totally nervous while giving that interview but it was a great experience for me. In front of 50,000 crowd, I was able to speak:banana2. We did watch the match which ended the practice for us. Our Coach Jumbo bhai illustrated how to play when different situations come up by showing the match. He said "Even if you are confident on winning, you should not lose your control and try for biggies. You should play timely cricket, I mean, play as per your required run rate. Even if you bat first, you'll have a required run rate...." And Gary Kirsten came up and spoke out," confused?? Well, lemme explain."

"I was pretty confused. My Mind
thought," WTF is this Reqd. RR in first innings:confused:"

"While batting first, keeping the nature of pitch on mind, your coach will fix up a target for you. You SHOULD come up to that as what he says will include too much thinking. He'll check out for the previous scored on that ground, the weather factor, etc etc will be kept on mind when he sets a first innings target. And the way I see him, when he played under me, he was guessing the score accurately." Gary Added.

We listened to his words very carefully. Maneria raised a doubt "What would happen if we cross that score and what would happen if we don't even come up to that score, sir?"
Gary sir answered," Well, if you cross the score, you shouldn't keep the first innings target set by your coach as he might be wrong. You should just look at the ball, concentrate well and score as many runs as possible. And if you score less than that score, there might be THREE reasons for that to happen.
1) The conditions before the match and while playing the match would have changed greatly.
2) Players might have performed lacklusterly.
3) Your coach might be wrong.
The first & third possibility will not occur often but the second one occurs often. Even when my boys show a lacklusture performance, I won't care as we have batsmen till number 9. But you can't expect your number 9 batsman to hit like Harbhajan Singh or Zaheer Khan. So, you need to think that you are the last batsman available for your team and you need to take care of your wicket."
The match was going on and Guru Gary was with us. He then moved on to ground along with Kumble talking to him.

We shouted for Team India along with fans. Some of the boys were interviewed by Neo Cricket anchor, Archana Vijaya.
