Story Team India- Men in Blue's Diary||Indian Tour to New Zealand-//Australia VS India, First Innings//-

I'm sure the Indian bowling attack is still having nightmares of Jesse Ryder smashing them all over the park. ;)
I'm buying my ticket just to catch big Jess in action.
Hopefully he'll pick up plenty of wickets as well.

New Zealand VS India,
1st ODI, 5th February, 2010.
The DEC Tri Bash,
Live from Auckland.

The First ODI between New Zealand and India was a cracker, for bowlers. 18 wickets fell just 49.3 overs of bowling. As expected, the pitch was a pure bowling surface. Tendulkar was too hot to handle. It all started off with New Zealand winning the toss and surprisingly, Vettori decided to bat first.

India were playing Manish Pandey, Rahul Dravid with Raina and Gambhir sitting out. Dhoni said that the pitch needs players who have much patience, for which, they decided to play Manish Pandey and Rahul Dravid.

The crowd as expected was almost of Indians. It looked as if the match was being held in India. But the conditions there made the New Zealand feel felt.

New Zealand Openers Brendon McCullum and Jesse Ryder started the things off as expected. They both gave a brisk start to New Zealand. They went on punishing Zaheer Khan, Praveen Kumar and Ashish Nehera. But the scene changed after McCullum fell to Zaheer. Dhoni took an easy catch which McCullum edged. The ball swung in and McCullum had an inside edge. The ball just missed the stumps, but Dhoni dived a bit to his front to take a lovely catch. The troubles started to New Zealand from there on. But the next batsmen in, Martin Guptill, supported Jesse Ryder for sometime. And after facing 9 deliveries, he fell in the trap of Praveen Kumar. It was a plumb in front of wicket. Ross Taylor supported Jesse Ryder. On the other hand, Jesse Ryder was playing a brisk knock. And in that process, Nehera put a fuller, Ruder was tempted and tried to loft it over extra cover. But the ball kissed the bat's shoulders and went straight up in the air, and Ravindra Jadeja completed the left formality of catching the ball. Then came in Jacob Oram, who had a great responsibility to take the hosts to a good total as they were three wickets down for 78 runs. Then started the wickets package. Ross Taylor fell in the trap of Harbhajan Singh and Harbhajan delivered again in the same over. He even removed Jacob Oram in that over. Daniel Vettori and Nathan McCullum played many balls, but scored only little. Daniel Vettori tried to go aggressive, but he failed. He tried to loft the ball over Long on, but Tendulkar spoiled the party by catching a spectacular catch at Long on. Kyle Mills was expected to show some fire works, but he was diffused before he blasted by Jadeja. Then Walked in Southee. As the batsman crossed over, it was Nathan McCullum on strike. He ducked couple of balls and he even took the patch of Mills. He played an idiotic shot, which directly went to Virender Sehwag's hand. Sehwag had very little time to catch it. The reaction time was found to be 0.72 seconds. He took an out standing catch at short mid on. Then, Tim Southee fell to Praveen Kumar, edging the ball to Dhoni. Butler played slowly but he even fell, which ended the innings.

The total they posted was 125 and they just played for a short time of 24.4 overs.

Zaheer Khan, Praveen Kumar, Harbhajan Singh and Ravindra Jadeja picked up 2 each, where as Nehera and Yuvraj picked one each.

Indian Openers Sehwag and Sachin started very slowly. But Sehwag trying to play his normal game, fell in the trap of Ian Butler. He tried to cut the ball towards gully but the backward point there, Jacob Oram, took an out standing catch. Rahul Dravid tried to play anchor role, but he failed! With all the experienced going out, Sachin took the job of playing an anchor role. skipper Dhoni walked in, but din't last for much time. He got out on 8. Then walked in Manish Pandey, the debutant. He failed as he played for a short time. His wicket was bit controversial, as Jesse Ryder almost bowled a beamer above waist height. Manish Pandey just tried to get himself out from that injury, and in that process, bowl kissed bat and went in to Brendon McCullum's hand. Ravindra Jadeja joined Sachin Tendulkar at the center. On the other hand, Sachin played a good knock and he reached his fifty. India, needing only 20 runs to win, from about 27 overs to spare with 3 wickets in hand, were looking pretty strong. But Southee and Bond increased small tension in the Indians by picking up Jadeja and Praveen Kumar. With only 14 runs needed, Ian Butler provided the breakthrough of the on song Sachin Tendulkar. Harbhajan Singh and Zaheer Khan were involved in a partnership, which never broke. They both played a good knock. Zaheer scored 4 off 3 and Harbhajan scored 7. Then Shane Bond went for a five wides, which confirmed the Indian win.

Indians Reach Hobart.

7th Feb, 2010.
The Team India has reached Australia, for playing 2nd ODI against Australia at Hobart. Responding on this, skipper Dhoni said "Well, its a good idea of conducting a tri series at two countries, which will be profitable as Australia VS India at New Zealand may lead to loss. Its a good idea, but we'd have loved a game against Australia at New Zealand."

Australian team was looking confident and they were on fire to start off the tournament with a win. "There are many changes in conditions, so, we've to take the advantage and win the game. Conditions at Hobart are bit similar to New Zealand but here the breeze effect is less when compared to New Zealand." Said the Australian Skipper, Ricky Ponting.

Sachin Tendulkar autographs his fans.

Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar said "Its good to have these kinda tournaments, tri series in two countries. The original pleasure while playing an ODI series can be felt in playing a tri series as you dunno what your future is, unless you win everything. So, its a good contest at Australia, conditions have changed and we're up for the task."

Australia will play against India in the next game of this DEC Tri Bash.

Binnu, how much is the time space between each match? Is it like 4 days? I mean traveling from NZ to Aus and again back to NZ every now and then will take toll on the players.

I have always said, too much of something is really not good. This is a major setback to your storyline. Just be practical and write a story.

I reckon it'll be fixed if I put up the dates on, which I'll be doing in short time.:)

Australia VS India, The Big Picture!
horiz_line.png

8th Feb, 2010.

Well, the second ODI of the DEC Tri Bash is scheduled tomorrow at the Bellerive Oval, Hobart. This is for the first time, a tri series is being hosted by two countries. The conditions here at Hobart are not much changed from the New Zealand conditions, but the breeze, which helps the bowlers on New Zealand tracks is not much present, which makes the great change.

Australia are looking forward to get a win and start off the tournament with a win. Australian line up will be without their regular vice captain Michael Clarke, who may join the side after second round of the Tri bash. But, missing his services is a great loss to Australian team in the opinion of experts.

jttkjo.jpg

Ricky Ponting Talking to Media.

Ricky Ponting said,"Missing Clarke is very bad but the players like Adam Voges can have good exposure in Pup's place. Most likely person to replace Pup is Voges because both does the same role (Batting all rounders with spin bowling). The likely persons to sit out are David Hussey and Bollinger." With home support and local conditions, Australia is looking very strong on paper, but its Cricket, so expect more drama.

On the other hand, Visitors India are looking good on paper as usual, but their recent win makes the experts say that Indians are favorites in the 2nd ODI. But the conditions have changed and they're playing on Australian pitches, which will play a major role. Indian Skipper MS Dhoni said ,"Well, its a good challenge for us and we'll put up our best. Manish Pandey is likely to sit out for tomorrow's match and Raina or Gauti may play. Still its undecided because Manish Pandey performed well in the emerging players tour lest year on Australian pitches, so, the decision is yet to be made after having a chat with our team management throughly so that we won't be taking any chances of losing the game as if we have some points on the table, we can risk at later stages of tournament."

Mahendra Singh Dhoni talking to Media.

Indian Batting is strong, but Ishant Sharma & Praveen Kumar on Australian pitches is something to watch out for!

This match has got a specialty. Its the first Day- Night ODI at Bellerive Oval. The match will start on 02:30 PM AEST.

Australia VS India,
2nd ODI, 9th Feb, 2010,
Live from Hobart.

The second ODI between India and Australia provided a good fight between two teams. The pitch report concluded that the pitch would support both the departments equally, but any special effort from any department can change the match. Australian skipper Ricky Ponting won the toss and he decided to bowl first.

"Well, the square looks even to me, and as we've got some quick bowlers, bowl first, pick some early wickets, and restrict the opposition somewhere below 230-250 can ensure a good start to us. We're playing with 3 pacers, and one specialist spinner, Ritzy." said Ricky Ponting at toss.

"Well, I'd have batted first on this surface, but quick wickets can get us into troubles. We have Ishant Sharma in for Ashish Nehera, and thats the only change we've got. We're playing Manish, as his performance in Emerging Nations series was pretty fair on Australian pitches. Not only that, Gambhir or Raina can bat well at No. 4 or No.5, not below that, so even that factor made Manish play. Watch out for Praveen Kumar and Ishant Sharma here, is only what all I say!" said Dhoni at toss.

The Indian openers Virender Sehwag and Tendulkar started off poorly. Virender Sehwag played exactly opposite to what his play is. He scored 15 runs of 27 balls. He gave away his wicket to Shane Watson. And before that, Sachin Tendulkar fell to Nannes. Tendulkar trying to play a cover drive, nicked the ball and Tim Paine completed the formalities of catching the ball to make Tendulkar walk. Then came in Rahul Dravid, who stuck to crease! Virender Sehwag and Rahul Dravid played aggressive cricket. Dravid was attacking where Virender Sehwag was on defensive note. They both played for about 40 balls in which they completed their 50 run partnership. After Virender Sehwag fell in Watson's trap, the Indian skipper Dhoni walked in. Dhoni and Dravid played sensible cricket. They took their time, waited for the poor balls to punish. They added 73 crucial runs to the total. In this process, Rahul Dravid came up to his 50! Mahendra Singh Dhoni, trying to play a big one off Adam Voges, edged the ball to Paine, which was given out.

Then Walked in Yuvraj Singh, who played sensible cricket! Dravid and Yuvraj added some 48 runs, and Rahul Dravid got out on 76! He fell in Watson's trap. His 76 was a crucial one. Then walked in Manish Pandey, who chipped in with a 21 ball 11. He gave his wicket away to Adam Voges, for which Shane Watson took a brutal catch at mid on. No one expected that to be out,but Watson's excellent fielding made Manish Pandey walk. Then Ravindra Jadeja chipped in with handy 22 off 20. In this process, Yuvraj Singh came up to his half century. And in the 299th ball, he tried for big one, but Nannes, the outfielder took it easily. Praveen Kumar tried to loft the ball, but misses it. India post a respectable total of 270.
