Indian future tours and programs planner Lalit Kumar Modi announced a tour to New Zealand. He said that it was a tournament in which one more teams apart from India and New Zealand will play.
The third team in this triangular tournament was Australia.

The triangular tournament consisted of 10 matches with three matches scheduled at Australia (one at Hobart, one at Kardinia Park Geelong and another at Adelaide).
The Schedule was officially announced by Cricket New Zealand.

Match 3: New Zealand VS Australia at Wellington
Match 4: New Zealand VS India at Christchurch
Match 5: Australia VS India at Geelong

Match 8: Australia VS India at Adelaide
Match 9: New Zealand VS Australia at Napier

Final: TBC VS TBC at Christchurch.

The squads were scheduled to be out by couple of days.

The Cricket boards of Australia and India announced their squads to the triangular tournament at New Zealand and Australia. Indian Squad consisted of perfect mix of Youth and experienced as usual. This time, BCCI picked up a couple of new face from Delhi and Karnataka, Pradeep Sangwan and Manish Pandey. As usual, Mahendra Singh Dhoni was named the skipper and Virender Sehwag was his deputy. And the shocking news was Rahul Dravid was picked up as a member of ODI squad this time.

Cricket Australia even announced their 13 man squad for this triangular tournament. Ricky Ponting was named the captain, and Cameron White as his deputy. Micheal Clarke was not taken into squad as he was injured. There was no new face in Australian Squad.
