Munaf Patel Injured!
zkhantitlekx6.jpg

Its just before the start of the Windies-SAfrica match, we got a flash news from Indian cricket team.

Munaf Patel, pace bowler of India has been injured( In ankle ) yesterday in practice nets. It was thought initially that injury was minor but doctors have suggested Munaf to rest him from the tournament!

This was followed by an Immediate discussion this morning among selectors and coach and Captain and it was concluded that Munaf has been rested from this tournament and Zaheer Khan is replacing him in Champions Trophy squad.

Zaheer In, Munaf Out

munafoutrr4.jpg

This wud be a golden chance for Zaheer to perform for Team India. Its bit disappointing though for Munaf, who was bowling well, to quit from the tournament.

This inclusion of Z.Khan in the squad still doesnt confirm his place in TeamXI in the semi finals as its expected Pathan may utilise this opportunity... But still no news from Indian team regarding this as it wud be only known on the day of semi finals. Only thing thats confirmed is, Zaheer Khan is replacing Munaf in the Champions Trophy squad due to Munaf's injury.

Thats all from the studio.. Now we wud be Taking you straight away to the LIVE coverage of the match between WestIndies and SouthAfrica which is the last semifinals qualifier match in this series. Also, as a reminder to the viewers, the teams that have qualified already for semi finals are Bangladesh,India and NewZealand.

W.Indies Vs S.Africa
( Weather & Pitch Reports and Toss )

Welcome to the last semi finals qualifier match between WestIndies and SouthAfrica, Live from Nagpur. well, there is a good crowd attendance today and the music from Windies fans have already started playing.

This is going to be a little tough match for both the teams as Windies have done extremely well in recent times and also SouthAfrica have been one of the competetive side! Now lets go straight away to weather and pitch report from Geoffrey who has been waiting for us now. :)

Weather Report : Its another hot climatic conditions here in Nagpur but it might cool down in the night. Also being a day-night game, this dew factor might play role in this match later this evening. But there are no signs of Weather affecting the game which means that there is going to be a good cricketing action through out and thats it from weather report!

Pitch Report

nagpurpitchvk3.jpg

Well, the surface of the pitch has some grass on it and its going to be another bowler friendly pitch but batting might be bit easy under lights and dew factor. But this wud be very handy for the bowlers to utilise the pitch in fresh conditions.

Also the unique thing about this wicket is the 30-inch deep double-brick layer - normally there is a 15-inch brick layer - that facilitates in the extra pace and bounce. Today Nagpur is one of the only grounds to assist genuine fast bowlers in pace and movement and several first-class games ended within three days as the medium-pacers reaped rich rewards.

So this must be interesting how the bowlers are going to make use of this pitch. Once again its going to be a great challenge for batsmen to bat in these conditions.

But still, the stats of ODI games played so far in this ground are interesting that look to be in favour of the batsmen!

ODI Matches Played : 12
Matches Won by Home Side : 5
Matches Won by Touring Side : 5
Matches Won by Neutral Side : 2
Matches Tied : 0

Highest Individual Innings : 130* S C Ganguly 1998-1999 India v Sri Lanka
Highest Team Innings : 350/6 Sri Lanka 2005-2006 v India
Lowest Team Innings : 154 Zimbabwe 1995-1996 v Australia
Highest Run Chase Achieved : 280/3 West Indies 2002-2003 v India
Average Runs per Wicket : 34.63
Average Runs per Over : 5.59

So there might be an equal contest between batsmen & bowlers once the pitch gets used to! The team winning the toss wud prbly prefer bowling first to utilise the early conditions and try to create a initial trouble after which it might be easy to bat on! Thats it from the pitch report and its time for the toss now!

Toss : SouthAfrican captain, Smith won the toss and decided to bowl first. Well, we have to wait till the end and see whether this decision is correct or not.

Teams

WestIndies

This is much similar to the winning line up of DLF finals. Ramdin is once again tried as opener with Gayle. As there is no J.Taylor, its good chance for Edwards to utilise this! With Colly,Bradshaw and Edwards, bowling line up looks to be strong. Banks already had a great DLF series, so its expected to perform the same here. Overall, a good competitive side!

SouthAfrica

With South Africa about to bowl now, the combination of Pollock,Ntini and Nel wud be very challenging to opponent. Batting order also looks good. So another competetive side which makes the match overall to be tough for both the teams.

Thats all from the toss and while coming back, we wud take you directly to the first ball LIVE from Nagpur and enjoy all the actions on StarSports!

Good Start By SA
( Gayle Dismissed Without Scoring )

Well, SAfrican fielders came out following the umpires into the field after which, Windies openers, Gayle & Ramdin came out of the dressing room. After everything was ready, umpire asked to proceed. Ntini and Pollock shared the new ball. Pollock striked early for SouthAfrica with the important wicket of Gayle.

Gayle Dismissed by Pollock

gayleoutfl0.jpg

Pollock bowled an beautiful delivery which Gayle tried to defend it but was very unlucky that ball didnt rise to the level Gayle expected. This resulted in ball striking the pads & there was a huge and confident shout from Pollock and keeper... Umpire took some time and raised his fingers.

Pollock was delighted to strike early. The entire SouthAfrican team celebrated this wicket with huge amount of happiness. Gayle was not happy though and made his way back to the dressing room with lots of disappointments.

Its more worrying to Windies fans as Gayle departed without scoring! This is a huge blow for Windies as Gayle, The big man of Windies has the capability to score runs at faster rate. Windies skipper, Lara replaced Gayle at the crease and scored runs straight away with the boundary off the first ball.

Well, 5 Overs ended, South African bowlers have bowled well so far and took the crucial wicket(Gayle) too! Lara looks confident at the moment but its still long way to travel for both the teams!

WI :- 18/1(5)
B.Lara : 8*(10)
Ramdin : 9*(15)

Gayle : 0(5) Dismissed by Pollock.

Good start by SA here and if they push on they could ahve the WIndies in a spot of bother :)
great stuff suren as usual keep it up :clap

ideal start for Sa now they need to get lara as soon as possible
