End of 50 Overs ( Windies In Strong Position )
Well, with the last five overs and Lara remaining, Smith was little bit under pressure to control the flow of runs. Pollock and Ntini were operated to bowl the last five overs. After the two sixes of Banks in Boje's over, Smith was contented with defensive field for both the batsmen.
Lara & Banks, A Handy Partnership!
Lara continued his domination as usual. To everyone's suprise, Banks was also scoring runs quickly. Banks got some useful boundaries though he struggled a bit against Pollock for few deliveries.
Both Pollock and Ntini were not effective against Lara. Meanwhile, Lara reached his 150 and raised his bat proudly towards the dressing room. All the players in dressing room stood up and applauded this excellent effort from the skipper. Lara has scored more than half of the Windies score. He threatened the bowlers right from the time he arrived at the crease!
Atlast, Ntini was able to put an end to Lara's amazing innings!
End Of Lara's Amazing Innings
Ntini bowled an slow delivery and this tempted Lara to go for a big one. Lara attempted for a maximum but did not get the enough distance ( may be due to the tiredness of a long innings ) and infact was about to fall short befort Nel who was near the boundary! Nel made an superb dive in front and managed to get hold of the ball!
This another great catch ended the magnificent innings of Lara! Everyone gave an standing when Lara was walking back to the dressing room. Even Kallis gave a warm handshake to Lara. What an innings this has been! Well done Lara :hpraise It was a great captain's knock!
Bradshaw replaced Lara at the crease joining Banks. Both Banks and Bradshaw completed the remaining last over bowled by Pollock and Windies were able to set a challenging Target of 287 for SouthAfrica to win!
Windies ScoreCard
Lara's 154 was an excellent innings with good support of Ramdin,Chanderpaul and Banks! Also the highest score in this tournament so far is 154 which is shared by Lara,Sachin and Pieterson.
SouthAfrica BowlingCard
Bowlers were struggling against Lara. Nel was impressive in second spell who finished with four wickets in the end. Kallis was economical but unfortunately was wicketless. Ntini,Pollock and Boje shared one wicket each though Boje was smashed all over for runs!
R.S :Hello and Welcome to the innings break for the match between WestIndies and SouthAfrica, which is the last semis qualifier.
R.S : So Windies have got themselves in an excellent position by setting a challenging target of 287... All credits to Lara! Now in Innings Break, we have Andre Nel with us, who was very impressive in bowling picking up four important wickets and also responsible for a quick collapse of Windies in middle otherwise which Windies wud have scored 300+!
R.S : Well Nel, you were bowling nicely right from the first spell though u had more wickets in second! How was the conditions to bowl in this track.. Was it helping the seamers?
A.N : Yeah it does provide assistance, but only to some extent, becos of the grasses on the surface. New ball was swinging very well for both Pollock and Ntini and when i came to bowl, there wasnt much movement like i noticed in first few overs. So the line and length is going to be the crucial factor once the ball start loosing its shine!
R.S : So do you think that batting wud be more easy in the second innings?
A.N : Initial 10 or 15 overs wud be crucial! As i said before, the new ball can do any trick on this surface.
R.S : How was the bowling to Lara?
A.N : Well, it was very challenging and tough. He played well throughout!
R.S : Also it seems that u are a good friend of Lara from the way u treated him when he was walking back towards the pavilion ?
Some Actions on Field
( Nel Hugs Lara for Excellent Innings )
A.N : Yeah, I always like to bowl to batsmen like Lara as its one of the great challenge! The way he played today was really impressive!
R.S : Thanx Nel for sharing few time for us though u must have been tired of bowling! Gud Luck for SA in batting too!
A.N : No Prbs Ravi!
R.S : So thats it from the innings break! We will take a break here and while coming back, we wud take you directly LIVE to the first ball of the South African Innings!
Also, an another interesting thing to note is, the highest total achieved while chasing in this ground was,
Highest Run Chase Achieved in Nagpur : 280/3 West Indies 2002-2003 v India
So Can SouthAfrica create a new chasing record ??? Or Can Windies make a match here ??? To know this, Stay Tuned for all the actions Only on Star Sports!
287 is a huge ask and i think SA will face some problems getting that total. Why didnt Pollock and Ntini bowled 10 overs even when they bowled superbly u were playing as SA right ?
Its becos, i was operating with Nel and Kallis at the same time who were more impressive than Pollock and Ntini! Only one over by Boje (44th) was a crap but still it produced wicket!

Smith's Poor Form Continues! ( Bradshaw striked in Very First Ball )
With the huge task for SA, openers Smith & Gibbs came out of the dressing room with huge pressure on them. Batting under lights is not an easy task too. Lara was seen busily working with his fielders and having discussion with bowler. Bradshaw opened the bowling for Windies. After everything was set reasy, umpire asked the bowler to proceed and Bradshaw started his runner up to deliver the first ball. There was a huge roar from both side fans for the first ball but the music of Windies fans further increased as Bradshaw striked in his very first ball!
Smith, Bradshaw's Bunny!
Bradshaw bowled an delivery that moved marginally away from the left hander.. this movement may be due to the pitch's assistance! Smith attempted to pick the gap in offside by playing an ordinary cover drive but the ball went in air and travelled straight towards Collymore. This ended in the simple catch and Bradshaw was excited a lots to strike in his very first ball!
The entire team was running towards Bradshaw that looked as if they were targetting Bradshaw for something and all started jumping over each other & celebrated this wicket. Smith's poor form in ODIs continues and this has turned as the greatest worry to the SouthAfrican team! Smith made his way towards the dressing room with frustrations.
A.Villiers replaced Smith at the crease joining Gibbs. Bradshaw bowled an tight spell giving away only one wide! Well, just One Over ended. Still, lot of works to do for both the teams!

SouthAfrica In Deep Trouble! ( Gibbs Departed increasing the pressure further )
With the early wicket, Lara was attacking Villiers bit more than Gibbs. Bradshaw and Collymore were carrying on nicely with the new ball. Gibbs got couple of boundaries against Collymore and infact was looking confident while Villiers was very watchful. But Gibbs did not last long. The marginal movement obtained by the bowlers created further trouble. Collymore striked this time with the wicket of Gibbs.
Gibbs, The Victim of Collymore!
Collymore bowled an excellent delivery which marginally moved away from Gibbs ( Very very marginal movement ). Gibbs didn't do anything wrong except for trying to defend it, but the marginal movement decieved Gibbs and ball striked the off stumps resulting in clean bowled.
Collymore was delighted with his first wicket. Infact it was a sweet revenge by Collymore after having smashed for two consecutive fours by Gibbs in the same over! Gibbs can't believe that he missed the delievery and stared at the stumps and pitch for some time. He then walked back towards the dressing room with disappointed face. There was even more disappointments in SouthAfrican dressing room for having lost both the openers quickly!
Kallis replaced Gibbs at the crease joining Villiers. The pressure on this pair is massive now especially on Kallis.
Some More FieldActions! ( Chanderpaul Once Again Targetting the Head )
Windies were very enthusiastic in the fielding. Lots of involvement was observed so far among the fielders. Even near the boundary, the fielding was excellent not giving up till the last minute. Some brilliant dives were made and the fielding has looked very impressive till now.
Also, Chanderpaul, while throwing back to the bowler, once againg aimed at the head but this time it was the umpire who was in trouble. ( Before, Chanderpaul aimed at Lara's head while batting ) The umpire somehow managed to get rid of the ball which was just above the head.
Well, 5 overs ended. Its not a great start by SouthAfrica having lost two early wickets. Batsmen need to be watchful till 15 overs after which batting might get bit easy! But the new ball has done its trick as expected. While, Lara wud be looking to get rid of Kallis as he might be dangerous when settled!

J.Kallis : 1*(3)
