Story India's Journey To World Cup 2011 [Commonwealth Bank Series 2010]

Not good that hawk eye. The release looks like Khali bowled it, while it doesn't look realistic at all. You have got better results in your previous attempts. Another hurried thing, and basically the thing that puts me off this story now. Instead of improving, it is going downhill. Past few updates haven't been any good too. It seems to me that you're doing this for the sake of it or something, just doesn't feel you're involved in this.

Never ever want to discourage you but, it surely has gone well below its standards.

I know that the hawk eye is no where near perfect. I have never written this story for the sake of it, I just write this story for fun. I have mentioned in the past as well that I know that this story is going downhill and as a writer I'm not liking this. I can use the in game hawk eye but it isn't good so I thought I'll have a go at the hawk eye myself. I haven't made a hawk eye for months and that's why the hawk eye in the last update isn't the best. I don't want to give any excuse the truth is that this story hasn't been the best but I'll try and improve the quality of this story and hopefully it will work. Thanks a lot for saying what you feel, if you are not liking the efforts I'm putting into this story then you are free to let me know so and I'll try and improve the story. :cheers

If you know then why are you hurrying it up? I know you're rusty when you don't do certain things for a long time but, you can work on it for sometime to get things right. I'm not really disappointed by the updates as I'm with you hurrying them.

I agree that I am hurrying up the updates but hopefully I can get it right in the next few updates. I know, I've said this quite a few times but believe me I'm doing my best to improve the quality of this story but I end up hurrying up the update. Well, I hope I don't continue to disappoint the readers.

Natwest Triangular Series, 3rd ODI
England v India
LIVE from Cardiff

25 to 42.1 overs update

England all out for 200, India won the match by 85 runs

PIC1-78.jpg

After couple of quick wickets for the Indian bowlers they continued to bowl in the right areas and got the reward. Yusuf Pathan was a surprise package, he was bowling in the right areas and was really troubling the England batsmen. Morgan got off to a good start but ended up loosing his wicket by trying to play a cover drive but getting a thickest of edges on the ball and it was a too easy catch to take for Dhoni.

England team was in deep deep trouble as they were 137 for 5 when Yardy came in to bat. Pietersen followed Morgan to the pavilion few overs later when he was dismissed for 70. Pietersen was trying to go over the mid on fielder, Zaheer Khan but didn't succeed as Zaheer took a good running back catch, a really good one in fact. A good innings from Pietersen ended and the England team was on the verge of loosing the match. Only a miracle could have saved them from the loss.

PIC2-52.jpg

Pietersen departed but Yardy didn't let the supporters to go home as he started playing some wonderful shots and suddenly raised a hope of winning in the hear of the England team fans but it was always going to be a very tough task. Yardy was very strong through the off side field and it just didn't seem that he was batting on the same pitch where the other England batsmen struggled to make runs. Yardy was finding it very easy to rotate the strike and hit the big shots if needed but the only worry he had was that there were not much wickets left in the bag for the England team. So, he also needed to make sure that he doesn't give away his wicket.

PIC3-27.jpg

Yardy needed some good support from Bresnan but that didn't happen as Bresnan trudged back to the pavilion after making 4 runs off 8 balls. After Bresnan's wicket, England lost the last three wickets for just 3 runs. Broad and Anderson both were back to the pavilion after making 1 run. Yardy was also dismissed for 35 by Yusuf Pathan. Swann remained not out till the end and the England team was all out for 200.

A very disappointing batting performance from the England team. On the other hand, a very good bowling performance from the Indian bowlers, pacers and spinners both contributed.

Welcome to the post match presentation with me, Nasser Hussain.

NasserHussain-1.jpg
I'd like to call the loosing captain first, Andrew Strauss.

NasserHussain-1.jpg
Strauss, it was a poor batting performance from your side. Surely a lot of improvement needed before the next match, your views.

AndrewStrauss-6.jpg
Yes, it was a poor day for us in the office. We were certainly not at our best. Bowling and batting both were poor but hopefully we can get it right till the next match.

NasserHussain-1.jpg
Next match, is a must win for your guys to qualify for the Natwest triangular series final. Your team is under pressure or ready for the challenge against Bangladesh?

AndrewStrauss-6.jpg
We are ready for the challenge. In the previous match versus Bangladesh, apart from Collingwood and Morgan it was a disappointing batting performance from us but we will surely make sure that it doesn't happen again.

NasserHussain-1.jpg
Well Strauss bad luck today, good luck for the next match. :)

AndrewStrauss-6.jpg
Thanks! :)

PIC2-45.jpg

NasserHussain-1.jpg
Now, I would like to call the winning captain, MS Dhoni.

NasserHussain-1.jpg
Well, Dhoni a solid performance from your side. The batsmen performed and the bowlers as well. You must be quite happy with this win.

MSDHONI-8.jpg
I'm indeed quite happy with my team performance. England are a really strong side and beating them was surely not going to be easy but we performed to our potential and won comfortably in the end.

NasserHussain-1.jpg
You guys are through to the finals of natwest triangular series. I'm sure you and your team would be looking forward to it.

MSDHONI-8.jpg
Yes, we are looking forward to it. It's not decided yet that which team we will play in the finals but whichever team we play, we will make sure that we give our best against them.

NasserHussain-1.jpg
Hopefully Dhoni. Best of luck for the finals. :)

MSDHONI-8.jpg
Thanks a lot!

Now, it's time to give away the man of the match award and the award goes to Sachin Tendulkar.

NasserHussain-1.jpg
Sachin, you might be getting old but day by day you are getting better and better. The question that everyone wants to ask you is, how you do it? :D

ST.jpg
Haha, whenever I step onto the cricket field to play a match for my team, my aim is to win the match for my team and I always try to give my best to make sure that my team wins. This innings was a important inning for me, my form wasn't good throughout this series. I was able to smash just 1 century in 4 tests that I played. So, yeah quite happy with this inning.

NasserHussain-1.jpg
From the word GO, you were looking in good touch and actually the fact is that you've been getting out on good balls in this series, so I'd say that you were unlucky rather than not in form.

ST.jpg
Maybe, today I was seeing the ball well and the main reason was that the pitch as the pitch was very good for batting. It was just the matter of first 10 - 15 overs where the bowlers were getting a bit of help from the pitch. After that, it was a good pitch to bat on.

NasserHussain-1.jpg
Well played today, Sachin. :)

ST.jpg
Cheers!

NasserHussain-1.jpg
Before concluding the post match presentation its my duty to announce the PC member who guessed the man of the match and the team to win the match correctly and the winner is Meet. That's all from the post match presentation. :)

It was always going to be a difficult run chase for the English to perform. But when your batsman don't play well, then it was a fairly easy win in the end for India.
Pietersen tried hard for the Pom's but other then that, they had no real contributors this afternoon. Yardy tried hard.

Natwest Triangular Series, 4th ODI
England v Bangladesh
LIVE from Edgbaston

Welcome to the star cricket studio for the 4th natwest triangular series ODI. We are here in Edgbaston, Birmingham cricket ground for a very interesting match. Today, the home side takes on the Bangladeshi side. When these two teams met last time in this tournament, the Bangladeshi team started off the match quite well with taking 4 wickets for just 60 runs but then Collingwood and Morgan built an partnership and brought the English team back in the match. Not only back in the match but the English team also won the match, by 16 runs but they'll take it. Can the Bangladeshi team put up a good show in today's match? Or the English team will play professional cricket and outclass Bangladeshi team in each department. You will get your answers shortly. ;) Sit back and enjoy the cricket! :) Lets have a look at the weather forecast for today's match.

WeatherForecast-6.jpg

Happy news for the cricket fans - NO RAIN. :D The temperature will be around 18. Sky will be clear throughout the match, so we should have no interruptions in this match. Light wind will be flowing in the ground which will help the seam bowlers. So, over all the weather forecast is good. Over to Sir Ian Botham now for the pitch report and then over to Nasser Hussain for the toss.

Pitch report by Sir Ian Boham

PitchReport-7.jpg

Well, from where I am standing, I can see a nice grass cover on the pitch. The pitch has quite a lot of grass. The pitch is also dry at some places so it seems that the pitch is made by taking into considerations that it helps the batsmen as well as the bowlers. I must say, that if the bowlers bowl in the right areas they will get some purchase from this pitch.

The overhead conditions are clear which is good as far as batsmen are concern. A light wind is blowing in the ground which will be handy for the bowlers. This looks to be a excellent cricket pitch. Whichever captain wins the toss should bat first and try to put runs on the board and then leave it to his bowlers to try and defend it. The captain who looses the toss should not be disappointed by fielding first though.

Toss with Nasser Hussain

Toss-5.jpg

NasserHussain-1.jpg
Its time for the all important toss. I'm joined with the two captains and the match referee. Andrew Strauss, England team captain, Shakib Al Hasan, Bangladeshi team captain and Chris Broad, the match referee.

NasserHussain-1.jpg
Strauss has the coin....Shakib to call and Shakib calls heads......and the coin lands up as tails

NasserHussain-1.jpg
So, Andrew you have won the toss. What will your side do first?

AndrewStrauss-6.jpg
We will field first, Nasser. I guess the pitch will remain good for batting throughout the match. There is a bit of grass cover on the pitch which should help the bowlers.

NasserHussain-1.jpg
What is your side for today's match? Any changes from the last match?

AndrewStrauss-6.jpg
Yes, we do have one change. Ian Bell comes in for Eoin Morgan.

NasserHussain-1.jpg
OK, Andrew. Good luck for today's match. :)

AndrewStrauss-6.jpg
Thanks Nasser. :)

NasserHussain-1.jpg
Shakib, your team is batting first. What you would have elected to do if you would have won the toss?

ShakibAlHasan-1.jpg
We would have batted first, Nasser. So, I'm not disappointed by loosing the toss. The pitch looks to be a good one for batting. The grass might help the bowlers at the start of the innings. So, its important that our opening batsmen play the first few overs watchfully.

NasserHussain-1.jpg
Your side has any changes from the last match?

ShakibAlHasan-1.jpg
No, we are going with the same side that played in the last match.

NasserHussain-1.jpg
Shakib, good luck for today's match. Do well! :)

ShakibAlHasan-1.jpg
Thanks a lot. :)

NasserHussain-1.jpg
England has won the toss and they will field first.

Lets have a look at the teams line ups for today's match

Bangaldeshlineup.jpg

The Bangladeshi side is a strong side. They have the talent to beat any side in international cricket but its just the matter of them playing according to their potential. The opening batsmen for the Bangladeshi team are Kayes and Iqbal. Middle order has the batsmen like Siddique, Ashraful, Shakib, Mushfiqure. Lower order has some good all rounders in Mahmudullah and Mortaza. Bangladeshi team is going with 3 spinners in today's match. Shakib, Shuvo and Razzak all three of them are left arm spinners. Mortaza and Shafiul will open the bowling and Mahmudullah's medium pacers can come in handy.

EnglandLineup.jpg

England team has been struggling with their opening composition. So, they are trying something different in today's match by giving Bell a chance to open. Which means that Prior will bat in the middle order. Same middle order for the English team from the next match. Trott, Pietersen, Collingwood and Prior. Yardy's and Bresnan's batting can come in handy as well. Broad and Swann can bat too. Anderson can bat a bit if needed. So, the English team does bat long. Their bowling is very strong - last time when they played Bangladesh in this tournament, it was their good bowling which won them the match.

As usual, there are two questions to be answered only by PlanetCricket members. The member to give the right answer will win 300 vCash price. :)

Q.1 Which team will win today's match?
A. England
B. Bangladesh
C. Tie

Q.2 Which player will win the man of the match award?

Just select a player from any of the two sides who you think will win the man of the match award.
