Story India's Journey To World Cup 2011 [Commonwealth Bank Series 2010]

Awesome, Sachin century was scintillating.
Just hope for a Yusuf blitzkrieg now, and India can reach 320 easily.

Indian team all out for 286

PIC1-74.jpg

Raina and Yusuf were going quite well. Raina was looking well settled at the crease and was playing his normal game ? smashing the bowlers all around the park and taking singles. Yusuf, on other hand was playing big shots but also making sure that he doesn?t loose his wicket. So, he was rotating the strike as well. The strike was consistently rotating and the scoreboard was ticking. Just when both the batsmen were looking good at the crease and the Indian team was looking good to reach to a total of 300+, Raina was out.

Raina was on front foot, trying to play one of the deliveries by Swann for a single but missed the ball and the keeper, Matt Prior stumped Suresh Raina. Raina departed for 30. Next batsman was, Harbhajan Singh. Harbhajan didn't last too long as he walked back to the pavilion for 2. Two batsmen now at the crease were, Yusuf Pathan and Zaheer Khan.

PIC2-49.jpg

Yusuf was under a bit of pressure as he could not go for big shots because just few wickets were left. This was forcing Yusuf to avoid taking risk and concentrate in rotating the strike. Sadly, Yusuf was not able to take India's score par 300 as he got out for 16. All thanks to the Yorshire man - Tim Bresnan. Bresnan, took a amazing catch to see the back of Yusuf Pathan.

After Yusuf's wicket, the tail enders were not able to do anything special as the Indian team got out for 285. At one time, it seemed that the Indian team will have no difficulties in reaching to 300 but that didn't happen. 285 is a good total though, England team will need to bat really well to chase down this total. The pitch is still good for the batsmen so if England team bat well they can chase down this total. ;) England team has the capability to chase down this total. It will be interesting to see how the England team goes about chasing this total.

Graeme Swann was expensive in his first few overs but did well to come back and pick up 3 crucial wickets of the Indian team

Members can still participate in the guess the team to win the match and guess the man of the match contest till the next update is posted. Members who will give the correct answer will win 300 vCash price. :)

Thats a big total posted by India. England are going to have to bat superbly to win this match, however i still think the pitch is firm, so England should get over the line. Strauss will need to play a big role for his team to win though.

And that bowling pitchmap is sensational. I see a lot of red dots, good bowling by Swann to the batsman

I haven't done the pitch map. It's already there in AC09. :)

Cheers mate! :)

Yusuf's fireworks needed to take India beyond a level & make this match a one sided one :p The presentation has been improved to massive extent from what I read here last time. Keep it up :thumbs

Glad to know that you find the presentation improving. :)

2 quick wickets for the Indian team but counter attack from Trott and Pietersen

PIC1-76.jpg

The players and the 2 on field umpires made their way into the middle. Surprisingly, the first over of the innings was given to Ishant Sharma. Prior took his stance and all was set for the England chase to begin. The umpire, Ian Gould said "PLAY"!

PIC2-50.jpg

Although it was expected that Zaheer will bowl the opening over of the innings but no Dhoni went for Ishant. Ishant didn't disappoint his captain as he got the wicket of Matt Prior in the very first over of the innings. Prior completely misjudged the ball and was bowled. Prior departed for a duck. Next batsman was Jonathan Trott. 2nd over of the innings was given to Praveen Kumar and not Zaheer Khan.

Strauss didn't reach to the double figures as he was dismissed for 9. Strauss was trying to play a big shot through the off side field but didn't succeed in it and misjudged the ball (similar to Prior) and was bowled. The wicket was taken by Ishant Sharma. The England team was in trouble with 22-2. Next batsman to come to bat was Kevin Pietersen.

PIC3-26.jpg

In pressure situation we often see the team which is under pressure, playing slowly and trying to build a partnership but that wasn't the case with Trott and Pietersen. Pietersen was not in a mood to change his game, he was looking to be aggressive from the word GO. Trott saw that Pietersen is playing his normal game well so even Trott started playing his normal game.

Ishant and Praveen both were proving to be expensive. After a good start, the Indian team was put under pressure by Trott and Pietersen. Ishant and Praveen both bowled 4 overs before they were taken off. 9th over of the innings was bowled by Zaheer Khan. Zaheer's first over proved to be expensive as he went for 8 runs. 2 boundaries were hit by Pietersen in the over. At the end of Zaheer's first over, few words were exchanged between Pietersen and Zaheer. The umpire, Simon Taufel made sure that nothing serious takes place and calmed down both the players. The crowd enjoyed the action - who will win this battle Zaheer or Pietersen? Interesting.... :p

10th over was bowled by Harbhajan Singh. A good over from him as just 2 runs came off the over. 10 overs were bowled and the match was evenly poised. England team has lost 2 wickets in the first 10 overs of their innings but they have also made 54 runs. It would be interesting to see that will Trott and Pietersen continue to bat well or will the Indian bowlers pick up few quick wickets and put England team on back foot. Time will tell.... :)

ENG : 54/2 after 10 overs
Jonathan Trott 22*(31)
Kevin Pietersen 19*(19)

Last Wicket : Andrew Strauss 9(12)
Zaheer Khan 1-0-8-0
Harbhajan Singh 1-0-2-0

I think it's a very even start here. Sure England have lost their 2 openers very cheaply, but Trott and Pietersen have steadied the ship and have made sure that England will go onto a decent total. India shouldn't get too carried away here, they have taken 2 wickets, but the work certainly isn't over yet, and they need to buckle down again and take more wickets.

Good presentation my friend, keep it up.

Indian team on top as England are in trouble with 121/4

PIC1-77.jpg

Jonathan Trott was playing the pacers well but he was never looking settled against the spinners and gave away his wicket to a spinner - Harbhajan Singh. Harbhajan pitched the ball on a good length, Trott went for a big shot through the off side field but in the end managed to hit the ball straight to the fielder at backward point, Sachin Tendulkar.

PIC2-51.jpg

Next batsman was Paul Collingwood. There was huge LBW appeal when Collingwood was on 3. Zaheer pitched the ball on a good length, Collingwood was playing the ball too close to his body and that went in the favor of him. It was a very close call but the doubt that the umpire, Ian Gould had in his mind was maybe that Collingwood got some bat on the ball. Collingwood got a lucky escape but he was not able to take the advantage of this escape as he walked back to the pavilion for 13 off 20 balls. Next batsman to come to bat was Eoin Morgan.

Pietersen, on other hand was going well. He was rotating the strike but also playing his shots which was making sure that the scorecard keeps ticking. Pietersen reached to his well made 50 off 59 balls. A good innings from KP under pressure. Now, it's important that he goes on and plays a big innings. Morgan in the past has played some really good knocks under pressure. Can he do it again? Indian team surely has the upper hand at the moment but a good partnership between Pietersen and Morgan might well bring the England team back in the match. :)

Nice update, but loads of images. Fine for me but wouldn't be fair to anyone on low bandwidth. Have a look at the way I presented the charts and graphs in one of my many unfinished stories (:p), may be you can do the same. :)

Here. (look at the bottom of the post)

Yeah, cheers for the suggestion mate. Did it the way you mentioned. :) I'd like some comments on that hawk eye, I agree it's no where near perfect but it did take me some time to make it.

Not good that hawk eye. The release looks like Khali bowled it, while it doesn't look realistic at all. You have got better results in your previous attempts. Another hurried thing, and basically the thing that puts me off this story now. Instead of improving, it is going downhill. Past few updates haven't been any good too. It seems to me that you're doing this for the sake of it or something, just doesn't feel you're involved in this.

Never ever want to discourage you but, it surely has gone well below its standards.

I think it's great that your trying something different. Obviously it's not perfect, but there is always room to improve. Just keep practicing, and then one day it'll start looking better and become more "realistic" take a look at my first hawkeye attempt.. wasn't any good.. but i practiced, and i think my looks fine now.

Keep up the good work my friend.
