Story India's Journey To World Cup 2011 [Commonwealth Bank Series 2010]

Yeah, I installed AC09 yesterday on windows 7 and played it for the last update but it was damn slow. I downloaded Trev's scorecard pack and messed up the batting and bowling card. It was a quick update but a very poor one. I have done some silly mistakes in the last few updates and I'll need to make sure that I don't continue to disappoint my readers.

Indian innings update - 1 to 10 overs

Sehwag disappoints

PIC1-68.jpg

2 Indian openers, Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar along with the Bangladeshi team and the 2 on field umpires came to the field to start the Indian innings. Surprisingly the opening over of the Indian innings was bowled by the Bangladeshi skipper, Shakib Al Hasan. A good first over by the skipper as just 3 runs came off the over. 2nd over of the innings was bowled by Mashrafe Mortaza.

It was a good over for the Indian team as 7 runs came off the over. 1 boundary was smashed by Sehwag in the over. Shakib Al Hasan bowled just one over and he was replaced by Shafiul Islam. 4 runs came off Islam's first over. Mortaza, in the 4th over of the innings got the big wicket of Virender Sehwag. Sehwag was trying to go for a big shot but the ball kept low and hit Sehwag' pad. Bangladeshi team shouted for the LBW and the umpire, Billy Bowden raised his finger. Sehwag was back to the pavilion for 8 off 13 balls. 2 runs came off Mashrafe Mortaza's 2nd over and most importantly Mortaza got the wicket of Virender Sehwag.

Bangladesh on top as both the openers depart

PIC2-43.jpg

Gautam Gambhir, was the next batsman who came to bat. 5th over of the innings was bowled by Shafiul Islam and it was a tight one as 3 runs came off the over. India's score after 5 overs was 18/1. In the 6th over, Bangladeshi team got another big wicket of Sachin Tendulkar. Sachin was trying to smash the ball on leg side for a boundary but didn't time the ball well enough, the ball went very high up in the air and the fielder at deep mid wicket took a good catch. Sachin was dismissed for 11.

India 37/2 after 10 overs

PIC3-20.jpg

The 2 batsmen now at the crease were, Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli. Both of the Indian openers were back to the pavilion and Indian team was in search of a good partnership between Kohli and Gambhir. Kohli and Gambhir avoided taking risks and concentrated on rotating the strike. If there was any loose delivery both of the batsmen were not stepping back in smashing the delivery for a boundary.

8 overs were bowled and India's score was 29/1. 9th over of the innings was bowled by Abdul Razzak. 5 balls of the over were dot balls but the last ball of the over was smashed by Gautam Gambhir through the off side field for 4 runs. Shakib bowled the 10th over of the innings. The over was similar to the 9th over as in this over too the first 5 balls of the over were dot balls but the last ball of the over was played by Kohli through the off side field for 4. 10 overs were bowled and India's score was 37/2. Will Bangladeshi team get few more quick wickets and put Indian team on back foot or Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli will build a good partnership and help India in chasing the target of 159? Only time will tell....

IND : 37/2 after 10 overs
Gautam Gambhir : 11*(14)
Virat Kohli : 6*(11)

Last Wicket : Sachin Tendulkar 11(23)
Abdur Razzak : 1-0-4-0
Shakib Al Hasan : 2-0-7-0

Not a bad start by the Indian's. They need to build a partnership and not let the Bangladeshi bowlers get on top. The 2 openers needed to bat a lot smarter then they did, they just threw their wickets away, being such good batsman.

Loving the updates mate, they are just so clean every time. Keep up the good work

Indian innings update - 11 to 31.2 overs update

Yusuf and Dhoni take India to the finishing line

PIC1-69.jpg

The Bangladeshi bowlers continued to bowl in the right areas but the 2 Indian batsmen did well to make sure that they don’t lose their wicket. Sadly, the wicket of Gambhir came in the way of a run out. Gambhir played the ball to fine leg and called “2 runs” but he hesitated to took off for the second run and fall short of his ground. The decision was referred to the third umpire by the on field umpire, Simon Taufel. 3rd umpire, Brian Jerling had a good look at it and decided that the bat was in the air and gave Gambhir out. Gambhir trudged back to the pavilion, having made 14 runs off 17 balls.

Next batsman to come to bat was – Yuvraj Singh. He played aggressive cricket. Kohli, on other end was not really going after the bowlers and was basically just rotating the strike because he saw that Yuvraj is timing the ball well, so he was consistently rotating the strike. Kohli was dismissed for 34. There was no fielder at the off side boundary and there was some gap between cover point and backward point fielders. Kohli tried to play the ball between the gap but didn’t time the ball too well and the ball went to the right side of Rahim. It was a tough catch but Rahim made no mistake and completed the tough catch. Kohli departed for 34 runs off 39 balls.

India lost two more quick wickets that of – Yuvraj and Raina. Yuvraj was clean bowled by Shuvo after playing a little cameo of 32 runs off 26 balls. Raina too didn’t last too long as he walked back to the pavilion after making 6 runs off 13 balls. Bangladeshi team was back in the match and the Indian team was under pressure. Two batsmen now at the crease were Yusuf Pathan and MS Dhoni. One more wicket for the Bangladeshi team would have meant that the Indian team batting tail would have been exposed.

GO YUSUF GO - Said the Indian fans in the crowd

PIC2-44.jpg

The batting powerplay was still left to be taken but Dhoni avoided to take the batting powerplay till the 26th over maybe because he wanted Yusuf to get his eye settled in the middle and then he (Yusuf) can go for the big shots. In the 26th over, Dhoni decided to take the batting powerplay and once the batting powerplay was taken Yusuf started to be aggressive (as expected). Yusuf was smashing the Bangladeshi bowlers all around the park. Dhoni did the right thing, he was rotating the strike and allowing Yusuf to take most of the strike because he knew that Yusuf is the man who can hit the big shots and win the match for the Indian team.

Indian team won the match in the 32nd over. Yusuf made 33 runs off 40 balls and Dhoni made 14 runs off 25 balls both remained not out. The Bangladeshi team was looking disappointed and so they should be because this was the 2nd time in a row that they had the chance of winning the match but they allowed the opposition to get back in the match and not only get back in the match but win the match as well. Nonetheless, they have played well in this tournament so far and hopefully they’ll continue to play well because their next game is a must win for them. They will also want India to beat England in their next match so that if Bangladesh beat England in their next match, Bangladesh will qualify for the finals of Natwest triangular ODI series.

That's a solid win their for the Indian's. Winning in the 32nd over will give them a lot of confidence as a team to pull anything off.
Bangladesh have been playing well in this tournament, and have gotten close on both occasions. They'll be looking for a win sometime soon though.

Thanks you ladies and gentleman for joining us for the post match presentation of this match.

NasserHussain-1.jpg
I'll firstly like to call the loosing captain, Shakib Al Hasan.

PIC1-70.jpg

NasserHussain-1.jpg
Well, Shakib. Well played but in the end Yusuf Pathan was too good for you guys. Wasn't he?

SHAKIBALHASAN-2.jpg
Yeah, Yusuf played brilliantly today. In the batting powerplay only three fielders are allowed outside the circle and the batsmen cannot rotate the strike, which means that they need to go for the big shots and Yusuf did go for the big shots and won the match for India.

NasserHussain-1.jpg
Exactly. Now, this was second time in the row that your team was close to winning the match but you guys gave the match away to the opposition.

SHAKIBALHASAN-2.jpg
Yeah, we have been unlucky. Now, we need India to beat England in their next match so that we can stay in the tournament and then try to beat England in our next match.

NasserHussain-1.jpg
Yes, Shakib. You guys will need to keep an eye on India vs England, 3rd Natwest triangular odi match. Well, all I can say is that best of luck for your next match.

SHAKIBALHASAN-2.jpg
Thanks!

PIC2-45.jpg

NasserHussain-1.jpg
Now, I would like to call the Indian team captain, MS Dhoni.

NasserHussain-1.jpg
Well done, Dhoni! When you came to the crease Indian team needed another 50 runs but only 4 wickets were in hand. What was going through your mind at that time?

MSDHONI-8.jpg
We were certainly under the pressure of loosing to Bangladesh but Yusuf played well and took us to the finishing line. I thought that when Yusuf is at the other end, there is no need of me going for the big shots. I was just giving the strike to Yusuf and he was doing the rest.

NasserHussain-1.jpg
A good performance from your bowlers in this match. Bangladesh were 48/0 but your bowlers did well to restrict them to a total of 158.

MSDHONI-8.jpg
Obviously, they bowled really well today. I'm quite happy with my bowlers performance and it's good to see that Yusuf performing with the ball as well as the bat.

NasserHussain-1.jpg
Yes, it is good to see Yusuf performing with the bowl as well as the bat. Well, Dhoni, well played today best of luck for your next match against England!

MSDHONI-8.jpg
Thanks a lot!

PIC3-21.jpg

NasserHussain-1.jpg
Now, it's time for the man of the match award and I guess there is no question about who is getting this award. It's Yusuf Pathan!

NasserHussain-1.jpg
Yusuf you played brilliantly today. You not only performed with the ball but with the bat as well.

YUSUFPATHAN.jpg
Yeah, I'm happy with my performance in today's match. Bangladesh team got off to a fine start and it was important for us to get back in the match with some quick wickets and I was able to get some quick wickets for my captain which got us back in the match.

NasserHussain-1.jpg
Have you been working on your bowling in the nets?

YUSUFPATHAN.jpg
Yeah, I have been working on my bowling in the nets recently. We need a good all rounder in our side and I'll be happy to bowl whenever my captain wants me to ball. I've always concentrated on my batting and less on my bowling but the situation at the moment is that my team needs a all rounder so working a bit on my bowling can come in handy for my team.

NasserHussain-1.jpg
Yeah, it certainly can come in handy for your team! Brilliant performance in today's match, Yusuf. Best of luck for your next match.

YUSUFPATHAN.jpg
Thank you! :)

NasserHussain-1.jpg
Before concluding the post match presentation, it's time to announce the winners of the competition - guess the team to win the match and the winners are Trev and Yudi. Both of them get 300 vCash each. :)

NasserHussain-1.jpg
That's all from the post match presentation. :)

No surprise there with Pathan getting the man of the match award. Love the presenation mate, it's clean and easy to read. Now looking forward to the next match.

Sehwag injured

shewag_19082008.jpg

Virender Sehwag, hurt his knee during fielding in the 2nd odi of natwest triangular series. The injury is not told to be serious but Sehwag may still miss the 3rd natwest triangular series odi because the Indian team won't want Sehwag to play in the match and do something worse to his injury. It's surely a big setback for the Indian team because Sehwag was not only performing well with the bat but with the ball as well and the quick runs he makes at the top of the order are really crucial for his side. If Sehwag doesn't play, Gambhir will open.

That's a huge blow to Team India. Sehwag is a batsman who cannot be replaced by anyone. Hopefully, he recovers and manages to play the third ODI but the way you've described the situation makes me feel that he'll probably sit out.

Thanks mate! Yeah, I'll make sure that I don't hurry up the updates and at least check the update once if not twice and yeah thanks for the Indian kit. I have updated the Indian kit in my game. :)
