India's tour of Australia - December/January 2015

Australia are lucky to have Clarke as captain. He will most likely declare overnight and give his bowlers enough time to get us out (which is quite likely). If it was any other team, they would probably bat another 8-10 overs to take the target to 400 since both teams have scored very brisk runs throughout this game.

PS: Hoping for a miraculous rescue act by the Indian batsmen on day 5

Well I would have been right had India been playing England in England right now!

If India were playing in England right now; then I think a draw would be the most likely outcome. Y'know, with the snow and the fact that its now getting dark at four in the afternoon...

These runs are going to be tough. I think picking Karn Sharma was a bad option because he's new and he can't contribute with he bat and if we had Ashwin we could have chewed into the lead a little more cause he can get us vital 20-30 runs. Speaking of Ashwin, he could have wrecked havoc on this pitch. Also, Kohli should give some serious thought to promoting Rohit Sharma at 3 and just tell him to attack as it might suit his game a little more. I don't think Rohit can handle the pressure at #5 so they should promote him to 3 just for this last day and in a tense situation like Day 5. Also, Dhawan should just look to attack but Vijay should play his normal grinding game.[DOUBLEPOST=1418403463][/DOUBLEPOST]

Haha nice one! That is so true!

Playing Cricket in Scotland in May is bad enough; you'd have to be a masochist in order to try it in December!

I still think going in with Karn Sharma was a brave and good decision. A leg spinner can have much more success against Australia, and so Kohli took a brave decision although Ashwin has played more tests as opposed to Karn. But this game also shows that we can show a little more faith on Ashwin. Lyon has not had the best of times but still Australia have stuck to him and he is slowly starting to get the results. Similarly, we can also show more faith in Ashwin for our overseas games from here on. I would have played Ashwin in place of Rohit Sharma. Instead of using Rohit's off spin in this match, we could have used Ashwin's specialist off spin and Ashwin as a batsman in tests (more so overseas) can easily be called a "lower middle order" bats

Karn will go next game, and Ashwin will come in. But since the next test is at Gabba, we need Rohit (or maybe Raina) to stay as the 6th batsman. I dont really see a change in our fast bowlers for Adelaide unless there are injuries. They need to be cut some slack as this pitch has been a nightmare for them along with the Australian fast bowlers.

I think we've completely botched managing Ashwin on these overseas tours, we're at the same exact place with him where we were on our previous tour to Australia, we have no idea if he can go away from home, everytime there's a pitch that turns he's on the bench watching spinners who'd do good to wipe his boots getting a go, it's really tweaked up.

Gabba won't turn, so I expect him to play and be dropped just in time for the SCG. :facepalm

I really hope Kohli isn't suspended for the second test at Gabba due to a slow over rate yesterday. That would be disaster can't imagine our middle order without him. It would cause a lot of chaos as to what the lineup should be and everything.

Lyon is no longer spinning and turning the ball. He is making it hiss and spit like a hungry snake .. this will be really test our batsmen.

They would have come down to Australia expecting to deal with bouncers. But instead being forced to tackle some spiteful spin bowling with full assistance from the wicket

I see Ian Gould already has a strike to his name. Hopefully we won't see that kind of decisions again today.

First time offences are usually dealt with a warning, so really he was free to do whatever he wanted to.

The over-rate was that bad lol...? I'm going to look into this more.

Yeah, I just read about it today. I didn't know it was that bad either. They also had heated arguments yesterday with the Australian players so that does take away some of the time. Not all but it does impact the time it takes to bowl the next delivery.[DOUBLEPOST=1418433701][/DOUBLEPOST]Kohli giving his wicket away with 10 minutes to go on the third day might decide this match in the end. I would love to be proved wrong.

Even 1st session I would say, hopefully there's no poor umpiring in the next 2 sessions.
