India's tour of Australia - December/January 2015

I would understand even keeping dhawan opn but No hit for pujara is crap.

Extremely disrespectful to the ODI record holder for most runs in an inns. I am sure you will be expecting him to figure in a probable world cup winning team come March.

i actually think its quite funny; but that's probably because i insult most of the england team all of the time anyway...

I think going forward once this series is done, India need to look at the batting order. There has been too much of replacing like for like. Pujara is the next wall, so must bat at 3, Kohli the next SRT to he must bat at 4, and so on.

I think Kohli now belongs at 4, but Pujara overseas will be better suited at 5, and India could look at Rahane at 3. Its all still part of the rebuilding process, and some experimentation would be welcome.

The idea of dropping Pujara for NoHit virtually made me throw up, and not watch any cricket at all today. The fact that the score was 178/0 didn't exactly make me wanna stay up either.

India do need to invest in a totally new set of seamers, for this lot has totally failed. Bhuvi perhaps being the one exception, but the rest of them have ranged from at best Medium to very disappointing.

I think it may work in Pujara's favour, a good wake-up for him, let him know he is not guaranteed a place in the final 11. He has the makings of a great test batsman but still has alot of work to do.
Maybe. But seriously there was no way to include Rohit at the cost of Pujara. Wow. Dhawan's exclusion is alright but Pujara must have played. Rohit has been getting countless opportunities already. Pujara deserves more if we look at it that way.

Dhawan
Vijay
Kohli
Rahane
Raina
MSD
Jadeja
Ashwin
Bhuvi
Md. Shami
U Yadav
---
R Uthappa (WK Reserve), Ishant, Mesut Ozil, Rayudu

Final Squad -

MS Dhoni (capt & wk), Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin, Akshar Patel, Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Stuart Binny

Well I got 13/15 spot on. NoHit being in the side is kinda a no-brainer, as selection panels after selection panels have loved him. Presumably he is sleeping with them, or Srinivasan or Meiyyapan, or all of them together, I don't know. Ah well he had to be there, we all knew it, just desperately hoped he would not be.

But Stuart Binny ... WTF !!

Thats a place in the 15 wasted. Vijay could have featured in the 15 ahead of Binny. Lets not forget Vijay is in great form, and he is quite a solid T20 batsman

All said and done can this side win the WC ... yes, but one has to feel that those who feature in Row 1 will have a lot more to do with us winning that those in Row 2, and it will take a herculean effort from those in Row 1.

Haha, as great personalities often do, they underline snubs with a statement, and today Sehwag underlined his very expected snub from the WC squad, with a classic 147 against Haryana.

Incidentally Mohit who was also snubbed and didn't get into the final 15, picked up a hat-trick today for Haryana, which did include Sehwag's wicket on 147.

Something someone wrote on Facebook -

I would like to believe that the Indian bowling performance today would convince at least some of the many 'cricket pundits' that an 'aggressive' captain with an 'aggressive' mindset and 'aggressive' field placements does not get you wickets but the onus is on the bowlers to get you wickets. Sometimes, a pathetic bowling attack with an 'aggressive' captain at the helm having an 'aggressive' mindset with 'aggressive' field placements may boomerang on the team. And, sometimes we tend to forget that the game of cricket is played more on the 22 yards than on the mind (as some 'cricket pundits' would have us believe). And, believe me, I am fan of Virat Kohli and I think he is going to make a great captain!

I always supported MSD, as he was happily being crucified by the fans for things he couldn't control, batting collapses and a bowling line up that frankly didn't know how to bowl. How long before Kohli falls prey to the same lot? Guys till be get atleast 2 fast bowlers, no captain will win us series overseas. Right now the present lot of fast bowlers don't seem upto it.

Okay all said and done, as baffled as I am with Binny's selection, to be fair its not just this bunch of clowns that had picked him in their 15 for the WC.

Sunny Gavaskar, Harsha and Dravid all had Binny in their side. I am thus guessing Binny being in the side makes a lot of sense to some ppl, so I will go along with that.

i dont think there exists any pace allrounder for india if they think binny's pace is going to cause trouble or even contain they are kidding might as well get kohli or dhoni to bowl it instead. [rishi dhawan / irfan / BK have potential to be pace allrounders]
Even the yuvi of present form is more likely to fill the parttime bowler slot and give a decent bat than binny anyday.
