India's tour of Australia - December/January 2015

I would rate Rahane higher than Kohli

Rahane is damn good, but I think Kohli is in his own league by himself. His stroke play is just pleasing to the naked eye similar to Tendulkar's stroke play. Also, do you think Rahane or anyone in this current Indian team could have played a knock like Kohli did in Adelaide in the 2nd innings. That was a high quality innings that I don't think anyone in this team could have played except Kohli. There are reasons for this as well.

When you are succeeding, people don't talk about your linkups and relationships. But when you are failing, you are not allowed to have linkups, famous girlfriends accompanying you on tour (the GF will then be called a bad omen, etc.). Anushka must seriously be laughing within herself now. She was made the scapegoat during that England tour. Wonder what those morons (who called Anushka the reason for Kohli's failure, blah blah blah) have to say now? She has been seen in almost every test in this series, and Virat has reeled off hundreds after hundreds. She has even attracted the attention of the commentators who have at times called her "Virat's wife". :D

On an off-note, maybe Anushka should have a chat with Rajkumar Hirani (the director of her blockbuster hit 'PK') and think about making a new film on "finding silly and ridiculous reasons for failures". And have Virat as the hero of that film.:rolleyes:p

Back on the match - India still not out of danger yet. A victory is definitely ruled out, but to get a draw here, India still need to do a lot of work. They need to bat out time as much as possible. They can't think of anything else, not even victory. Kohli needs to try and get a double ton to cap off a sensational tour. Hope Saha, Ashwin and Bhuvi give him good support (all 3 of them are more than capable enough, especially on a track like this)

Well it looks like Anushka is turning out to be lucky for Kohli. She probably is laughing within herself. Also, is there not even a far chance of victory? If India somehow manages to bat 2.5 sessions today and get around 700 somehow, do you think Ashwin could bowl us to victory tomorrow? Or the second scenario could be Australia getting a 130-150 run lead and then they set us a target of 360 on the final day, you think we might have a shot at the victory? I know that Australia will not play for a draw in this match because they have already won the series and Steve Smith said they would like to finish this off in fashion for Philip Hughes so it is quite possible that they don't bat out time like they did at MCG and then declare.

Unless India bat really positive today (scoring at a decent clip) and get to 500+ by the mid of the second innings and get all out (or in the very unlikely event of declaring), I dont see them winning the game.

And there goes Kohli!!! What a tame dismissal! Damn!

i personally feel rahanae is more similar to srt, kohli is way too wristy almost like rubber arms, and is often limited to flick drive pull, SRT will play wide range of shots rahane is more like that, especially back foot punches, more than that kohli is more of a precision player than looking great, i would say rahanae 140 at mcg, 96 in durban lords 126 were as good as kohli's knock in terms of knock though the situations were different, all of them are at the start of their career so its hard to judge, but my pick is rahanae will rank better in the long run.[DOUBLEPOST=1420761471][/DOUBLEPOST]kohli needs break management..he needs to learn from the opposition players. all his dismissals come after a break and are pretty soft.

Who are the top 4 ? I am guessing Sachin, Gavaskar, Dravid make the top 3.

yep, that's right.

saha looks more settled this match, ashwin has looked good so far, and bhuvi can bat, so i'm hoping we don't- and i don't think we will- fold for 400.

We see batsmen like Rahane from time to time, coming in making runs being consistent and leaving the game with an average close to 50 in test cricket but we rarely see a batsman like a Ponting, Lara, Richards or Pietersen come in and destroy bowling attacks on any surface with pure domination, capable of singlehandedly turning a test in a session or less. Kholi is of the same ilk as these guys and this is where he stands head and shoulders above Rahane, once he can keep his attitude in check certainly will go on to greater heights.

I do agree with you Rahane is similar to Sachin.

ahh shit i jinxed it. what a nothing shot. i don't even understand what happened there.

Ashwin about Starc mouthing off: I hadnt said one word man. He kept on slurring ...

Haddin/Burns to Ashwin: should have done those shoelaces too. (im guessing to waste time)

How the fearsome tweak was that out? So much for technology.[DOUBLEPOST=1420772194][/DOUBLEPOST]Even channel 9 twats said it should be not out. I mean if those twats say that it was not out, you have to be blind to give that out.

Cant blame the technology !! It showed quite clearly that was not out. Even worst case, there was enough doubt to give that out

Human error strikes, DESPITE TECHNOLOGY !![DOUBLEPOST=1420772341][/DOUBLEPOST]
