India's tour of West Indies - July/August 2016

21 runs only in the first 13 overs

Ashwin has just proved why Jaddu doesn't need to be in the test team and that India can rope in a specalist bowler at the same time. Wonderful batting by Ash!

Wow, Ashwin

4th century. All 4 against West Indies. Well played in trying circumstances

200 runs 6th wicket partnership

---

And well played Saha !! About damn time

Quite interesting

First match everything went PERFECTLY to plan. PERFECT.

And this one, every single change so far has backfired. Dropping Pujara/Vijay, shuffling the order, Rohit-Jadeja-Bhuvi failing with the bat.

Well as we all know in cricket, it doesn't go to plan every time. Also West Indies have only got better since the first match in terms of their shot selection as well as their team selection. I think this is the first time in series where they have put their best team from the available resources.

Beg to disagree - Kohli is not the best batsman for India in tests right now. Its a toss up between Vijay and Rahane (I would say Rahane although Vijay has been incredible for India in recent times, especially in overseas games). Kohli comes only third. Tendulkar was our best batsman but Dravid still batted No.3. Dravid eventually became our lynchpin in tests but I believe you pick the batsman with the right temperament, for our test No.3. Kohli does not have that. When I said about his defence, I meant the ability for him to defend really long when the chips are seriously down. And that in a way is linked to his temperament (which Aalay, you also mentioned). I see Kohli as a good No.3 in ODI's and T20's, but definitely not tests.

Well played Ashwin and Saha. Crucial spots and they have really showcased their skills. Hope Saha has dispelled doubts with that batting performance. He came in at a time when India were badly placed.

This one is probably the most valuable.

Despite what anyone might say, Bhuvi is a luxury outside of England and NZ conditions. He is basically useless in test match cricket with the old ball. Some guys get the stick due to the so-called 'testing the bench'. Guys like Yadav and Mishra cannot afford a single bad game while amazing Ishant keeps piling on the test caps regardless of how ineffective he is. How can Vijay be dropped from any test side when he is fit! He has probably been the most consistent opener in all test cricket since 2013, and most of his cricket during this period was overseas. To see Nohit and Dhawan who have been consistently poor everywhere, getting the nod is painful. I don`t feel like following Indian cricket. Nohit should`nt be anywhere near the test side. Yet, we mix our ODI and test match cricket form and keep picking him. Guys like Karun Nair, Shreyas Iyer, Kedar Jadhav should all be getting chances ahead of Nohit. We don`t realize the importance of Pujara. He comes in at No.3 and soaks up pressure and takes the shine away and allows guys like Kohli and Rahane to build on it. Eventually, he will convert those to big ones. You need batsmen who can eat up deliveries, even in their worst patch of form. Rohit, even when he is in the greatest rhythm will get out to bad shots.

I don`t get what Kohli and Kumble expect. This is the other end of the captaincy spectrum, the exact opposite of Dhoni. Trying to fix things that ain`t broke.

Does anyone miss Dhoni still? If Dhoni was captain, Jaddu would probably play all three test matches. Dhoni favours those who are from CSK, (Jaddu, Raina, DJ Bravo, Vijay (who now plays for Punjab) Well, one thing for sure, is that everybody will miss Dhoni fantastic wicket-keeping skills though.

Irrelevant of mentioning Bravo. He might be favoring them because there's a special for him on them as they have played together much more than the other options. Raina was never a test guy and hasn't been playing tests for India on a regular basis. On Vijay - Regardless of the conditions he is a far from the best opener for India in test cricket.
