India's Tour to South Africa

That was a great wicket for Siraj. He was bowling with steam and plan the last couple of overs and was rewarded with the wicket. Shami would have been deadly on this pitch.

Need to clean out the last 5 quickly. Keep the lead to 50-75.

Looks like South Africa will run away with the game if India don't get early wickets tomorrow morning.

A lead of 150 is match winning.

Should have given 2 consecutive overs to Krishna instead of mediocre Siraj. Thoughts of @icyman
Ha ha!

Haven't been following the game much as have been a tad busy on a personal front.

But I guess the team might be jaded after the high of the CWC and being unable to produce yet another trophy. Don't think we are claiming the so hyped Final Frontier this time, it's too steep a climb...

Rohit’s captaincy at the least hasn’t felt proactive. Ashwin’s bowled decently but has only bowled half of the overs Bumrah did which is perplexing when you expect him to be the holding spinner at one end for the other pacers to rotate around him.

The pitch hasn’t looked as threatening but that is not an excuse for our bowlers not being good enough to be more threatening.

Arun’s impact has been tangible but to suggest that our pace bowling will go back to those times seems like a big overreaction.
Not an overreaction.

Its been 2 years since the last SA tour and since the day Dravid and his coaching team took over.

Obviously this would have happened under Bharat Arun also due to aging of bowlers, injuries, and that high intensity Kohli in the field also gone missing.

The point was more alluding to the fact we might have witnessed the golden era of exciting fast bowling in Indian cricket which maybe be just impossible to see again.

There are decent upcoming fast bowlers in the ranks but will they be able to recreate what the the likes of Ishant, Shami, Umesh, Bumrah and even Bhuvi played its part in 2018 is something which will be very difficult to see.

Ishant before he worked with Gillespie was nothing more than a meme bowler who transitioned into a workhorse and Umesh is still a liability at times when he bowls outside Asia. We’ve gone from Srinath to Zaheer to Shami in terms of having at least one quality pacer in each era.

Still think our test bowling will be fine for the near future, I’m more worried about the white ball bowlers.

Naah white ball bowling is just fine IMO especially with Kuldeep as the spinner.

We have plenty of good limited over bowlers and tried and tested as well with the likes of Mukesh Kumar, Arshdeep and even Avesh is a decent ODI bowler.

Test bowling is something which is worrisome when you have to rely on Lord Thakur to pick wickets for you in the middle overs.

Both Ashwin and Jadeja are mediocre overseas and proven time and again yet persisted with.

Barring the last OZ tour Ashwin has always been a struggle overseas and so is Jadeja only plays because of his ultra defensive batting in any formats.

Where on earth are your spinners in Tests?

It doesn't really matter who he worked with Gillespie , Akram or whatever.

In the end he was a part of faction who picked up 20 wickets every single time in tests when they stepped in the field from 2018 to 2021.
