MATCH REPORT
Steve Waugh won the toss, and elected to bat first. They didn't start with a flurry like other starts, but never the less made a great start. Simon Katich and Brad Haddin picked the gaps, and made a solid 59 run partnerships before the wicket of Katich, who misjudged an outswinger from Ian Harvey. Mark Waugh was the next to fall when the score was at 1/86. He made 11, and was dismissed with Graeme Rummans 3rd ball of the season plum LBW in front. Haddin and Clarke were dismissed in quick successsion, with Haddin making 49, getting a leading edge to cover, and Clarke making only 1, going for a second run down to long off. Steve Waugh made a quick fire 35 off 37 balls, only to sky a ball to cover. The rest of the batsmen excluding Bevan and
MacGill failed to get into double figures, and lost 5 wickets for only 51 runs. New South Wales bottom order has failed them all three times against Victoria. NSW ended up making 216 runs.

Victoria had their toughest run chase of the season, and they made a bad start losing the wickets of the most inform batsmen in the team, Jon Moss (4 Runs) and Matthew Elliot (22 Runs). In the sixth over Victoria were 2/37. But a handy little 55 run partnerships between Brad Hodge, and Ian Harvey put the Vics on the road to victory. Harvey was dismissed for only 16 runs, which was his second highest score in his very poor season for both batting and bowling. Hodge was on fire, smashing the bad balls to the boundary, and occasionally the good balls. Hussey and Hodge made a 75 run partnership. Hussey was clean bowled by Brett Lee, trying to glance a ball on off stump. Rummans and Hodge batted out the innings, putting on a 52 run stand together. Victoria won by 6 wickets. They won the ING Cup, being undefeated throughout the whole tournament.
