Story International Cricket - Great Series

India v Pakistan, 1st Test, Kolkata, 2016

India added 133 runs off 30 overs in the 2nd session for just the loss of Kohli.
Yasir Shah again found some turn to have Kohli caught and bowled for 20 just when he was looking set.
India 143/3 (41.3).
Rahane settled immediately, and looked in great touch, scoring freely off the spinners, and belting a huge 6 into the grandsand off a Wahab Riaz no ball.
Vijay continued to bat solidly, and at Tea on Day 1 was unbeaten on 94* with India in a strong position.
The Pakistani bowlers have been disappointing, with only Yasir Shah troubling the batsmen, and Wahab in particular being expensive.

Rahane batted beautifully, settling immediately and then attacking the spinners.

India v Pakistan, 1st Test, Kolkata, 2016

India continued to bat well after Tea, with Vijay bringing up his hundred off 166 balls with 5 fours.
Rahane soon completed his own half century, racing to the mark off 47 balls, with 5 fours and a six.
The Pakistani bowlers were looking like they had no answer, before left arm spinner Zulfiqar, in the middle of a good spell, bowled Rahane.
Rahane had his offstump flattened attempting a cut off a well flighted delivery that turned in the last over before Drinks.
The 107 run partnership came in quick time, with Rahane dominating the scoring, and had put India in a strong position after the loss of captain Kohli had left them feeling some nerves.
With that the players took drinks, with Vijay still unbeaten on 115, and Rohit Sharma new to the crease.
Pakistan will be hoping to use the opening to get back into the game on a day when they have struggled with the ball on a flat pitch.

Zulfiqar raised Pakistani spirits by flattening Rahane's off stump with a beauty just before Drinks.

India v Pakistan, 1st Test, Kolkata, 2016

Vijay was out immediately after drinks for a patient 115, bowled between bat and pad by a big turning delivery from Yasir Shah.
India 252/5 off (65.4 overs).
Ashwin joined Rohit, and was almost out straight away, Sarfraz unluckily just missing a very difficult leg side stumping off Yasir.
The pair added a steadying 39 run stand, with Rohit quickly finding form.
Yasir Shah again found some turn to bowl Ashwin between bat and pad for an unconvincing 11 leaving India 291/6 (78.3 overs).
Saha had to survive a nervous few balls against the spinners before Stumps, but did so, leaving India 297/6 off 80 overs on a day shortened by a heavy shower by 40 minutes early in the 1st session.
At stumps, Rohit was looking good on 35 off 43 balls, and Saha unbeaten on 1 off 5.
Of the bowlers, Yasir Shah was brilliant, finding turn often on a pitch only occasionally offering assistance to claim 5-77.

Pakistan v India, 1st Test, Kolkata, 2016

Hot and Sunny conditions greeted the players on Day 2, with no chance of rain, while the pitch remained the same as the first day.
The Pakistanis took the new ball immediately, and Wahab and Rahat used it well, keeping the runs down and bowling the occasional lively delivery.
Rohit was bounced out by Wahab in the 3rd over of the day, gloving a catch to Shan Masood at short leg for 36.
India 297/7 (82.1 overs).
The seamers kept the pressure on, but eventually gave way to the spinners when the new ball lost it's shine.
Yasir Shah struck again, bowling Jadeja between bat and pad for with another big turning delivery for 13 to leave India 315/8 off 90.4 overs.
Saha and B.Kumar saw out the hour quietly with no more loss and at Drinks Pakistan would be happy with their morning's work.

As much as I was enjoying this match, I find 1970's and 1980's cricket more interesting as far as sims go, being familiar with most of the players as I began watching in 1982.
I obtained the official reissue player cards for all the older players and decided I will go back to 1978/9 to begin another sim.
I want to play the Test series between Pakistan and India in 1978/9, but noticing the players who played in the tour matches that year in both countries I decided I can probably play a pretty good A tour between the young players on both sides first.
With the test series that year being in Pakistan, I will send Pakistan A to India.
I will be using the official cards for the Pakistani and Indian players from the reissue sets.

India A v Pakistan A, 1st Unofficial ODI (50 overs), at Bangalore, 1978

The pitch for the first match at Bangalore was an interesting one.
Locals believe there will be a bit of spite early, the groundstaff expect the wicket to play easily right from the start.
There are no obvious signs it is anything but true paced and it certainly looks built to last.
Quite a nice toss to lose.

Conditions for the match were overcast for the start of the match, meaning the swing bowlers will gain some assistance from the conditions.

India A v Pakistan A, 1st Unofficial ODI (50 overs), Bangalore, 1978

India A won the toss, and mindful of the overcast conditions, sent Pakistan A into bat.
Pakistan A started slowly, but Taslim Arif slowly opened up and at Drinks they had made a slow but solid start.
The opening bowlers gained a little bit of assistance from the new ball, but so far the pitch has been good for batting.

India A v Pakistan A, 1st Unofficial ODI (50 overs), Bangalore, 1978

After a slow start the Pakistani batsmen began to attempt to look for runs, but with greater risk came chances.
Talat Ali was taken at slip by Ghavri from an edge off Yadav on 22, leaving the score 58/1 (18.2 overs).
Taslim Arif became bogged down, and was eventually out for 45, beaten and bowled by Yadav, trying to drive off the back foot.
Binny found some swing in the overcast conditions with his medium pace, and had Mohsin Khan plumb lbw missing an on drive, the ball hitting middle and leg.
With the last ball of the same over he had a convincing shout for lbw against Haroon Rashid which was turned down.
At the 2nd Drinks break Pakistan were in some trouble, having lost wickets and failed to accelerate in the middle overs despite trying to look for runs.

India A v Pakistan A, 1st Unofficial ODI (50 overs),Bangalore,1978

Pakistan A faltered in the closing overs, posting 75/7 from their last 17 overs to end up with a total of 171/9 off their 50 overs.
All the India A bowlers were steady, with Yadav leading the way with 3 wickets.
Haroon Rashid hit out for 22, and Wasim Raja for an unbeaten 25* but the rest were disappointing.

I downloaded IC Helper and punched in the teams and now I have a perfect platform to play the game.
I played the other match with dice, and it took longer than it should have so now I am playing on pc with IC Helper.
I decided to resim the innings and see what happens, here are my results.

India 'B' v Pakistan 'B', 1st Unofficial ODI (50 overs), Bombay, Sept 1978

India 'B' won the toss, and with conditions exactly the same as described in the earlier post, decided to bowl first.
Both teams had 3 seamers to exploit the Overcast conditions, and the pitch has something to offer the bowlers occasionally.
Good toss to win because of the weather I think.
Ghavri and Madan Lal opened the bowling for India 'B' and were tidy, especially Madan Lal, who started with 3 maidens and the wicket of Taslim Arif.
The opening bowlers created numerous chances in the overcast conditions, as did Binny, but at Drinks the Pakistanis were only 1 down and fairly well placed thanks to Talat Ali.
He was not out on 40* off 56 balls with 4 fours in an impressive performance, getting his eye in and finding his range early.

Pakistan 'B' struggled against the seamers in the overcast conditions on a hard and bouncy pitch which flattened out to dry and grassless, offering up numerous chances, and only fighting innings of 54 from Haroon and 36* from Mudasser got them anywhere near a competitive total.
Madan Lal began the match with 3 consecutive maidens and the wicket of Taslim Arif, and Binny picked up 3-34 in a tidy spell of swing bowling.

Pakistan 'B': Taslim Arif [w]; Talat Ali; Mohsin Khan; Mansoor Akhtar; Haroon Rasheed [c]; Mudassar Nazar; Wasim Raja; Abdul Qadir; Saleem Altaf; Mohammad Nazir; Sikander Bakht
India 'B': AD.Gaekwad; K.Srikkanth; R.Lamba; Yashpal Sharma; B.P.Patel; RMH.Binny; SMH.Kirmani [w] [c]; S.Madan Lal; K.D.Ghavri; N.S.Yadav; D.S.Doshi

A fine solo performance by man of the match Binny wasn't enough to prevent Pakistan 'B' taking an easy win in the opening fixture.
Saleem Altaf had a new ball spell of 7-1-17-3 as he wrecked the top order, reducing the Indians to 34/5, from which there was no way back.
Binny and Kirmani added 63 for the 6th wicket, but another late collapse of 4 wickets for 5 runs sealed the result.
Mohammad Nazir was excellent, conceding just 16 runs from his full ten over spell, and bowling 4 maidens.

A man of the match performance of 75 runs and 3-34 for Roger Binny wasn't enough to give his team the win.
