IPL IPL Player Auction 2011

All franchises should get together and force the BCCI to auction the IPL players who have not yet been auctioned (ie. the uncapped ones who have played IPL till now)

Wish Chennai get some really good domestic players. R Sathish (who played for MI last time) should hopefully join us. Abhinav Mukund is a must, C Ganapathy and R Sutheesh are some of the guys who can also be picked up. Is Hemang Badani out of the ICL and back into domestic fold?

^^ Hemang Badani is back in Ranji circuit. Played for Haryan ths season.

Dunno if ths already posted, as per cricinfo, Rahane has taken up offer with Rajasthan Royals. Wuld be good for him to play alongside the likes of Dravid and Warne :yes

Hemang Badani and Aakash Chopra uncapped players?

Any player who has not played for India in past 5 years, is considered under uncapped players for IPL selections.

Venugopal Rao, was a lucky son of a gun, he qualified as a capped player by just a couple of months, and it substantiates his pay package immensely. :lol

Would be absolutely stupid for Mukund to sign with CSK. He didn't get first team opportunities last time with CSK, so would make no sense since the team is nearly the same. Should go to a team where he'd benefit from first teaming.

Top move from Rahane. By picking RR over his home franchise, he's shown the desire to be a part of the playing eleven(and I believe that was why he signed with RR - they promised him first team cricket - remember reading that somewhere) unlike the last few IPLs where he was unlucky to be part of a heavily stacked Mumbai squad.

In other news, Manish Pandey's situation was apparently reported to the BCCI by the player himself. So he wasn't being offered more money by Pune, but apparently is being pressurised by RCB to sign the contract. The IPL stated that the decision should be made by the player, and the player is not required to choose his home team over other franchises.

Senior cricket official armtwisting uncapped players

Article also talks about 2 other players being put under heavy pressure to sign for a certain south-based franchise. I'm guessing the flamboyant batsman who can also keep is Ambati Rayudu. Too many left arm spinners around, but Bhargav Bhatt is the most prominent this Ranji season and Rayudu's teammate at Baroda, so it's possibly him.

Both of them havent played for India for the last 5 seasons and so they are into the uncapped players list. Its a very weak system of rules, but thats how it can be.

As a friend of somebody from Deccan, i've begun to see them as 'my' IPL team over the last few years.

I really don't know whether Gilchrist was worth keeping or not, he didn't play well last season, and although he can still put in match-winning performances, so can Pietersen and we've now got Steyn as well which is a huge improvement on Fidel Edwards.

I can't believe they left 2m un-used, nobody else wanted Ganguly, so why didn't they take him, his base price was 400k, so that leaves 1.6m, retaining Rohit would have left about 1.2m i think, which is definitely enough to go for another couple big Indian players.

Who is Chris Lynn?

Kochi had a flawed selection. They went in without any gameplan. They seem to have picked up the guys randomly and now they have ended up without Indian batsmen in their ranks.Doubt whether Ganguly would want to associate himself with them.

What? Why won't he when he's getting the money? After all, it is not like he's in great demand. However, Kochi will get him only if all other teams have no objection plus he himself wants to join.

Really? Don't tell me that in context of IPL. That is for what players play in it.

If I were Ganguly, I would reject any offer that comes by now. Having endured all the insults, I would show some self respect and stay away from the IPL. Its so clear that they have not rejected him because he is not worth it anymore (he is more worth it than VVS Laxman and Dravid).
