Is it a huge stretch of the imagination to consider that he was trying to say too old? I figured it out pretty quickly, but then again, I might just be underestimating my reading skills.

I have learnt a lesson from these posts. Never again will I post something light hearted in the forums- or people will abuse me and accuse me of silly things which I never did. :

I see where the misunderstanding was now. All I saw was a two-word post having a go at his spelling, and I didn't realise that it was something light-hearted. Please, don't stop posting things like that earlier post, we really need that breath of fresh air.

He may be old, but he has said himself that he hasn't had the workload of a first class player for the last 15 years, so we would be able to get a fair few years out of him.

Not only that but mentally he's like a mature 24 year old. He's just broken onto the scene and is excited for a test debut.

If there was a half decent option other than him then we'd go with the younger guy, but there isn't, so we have to play McGain. He's the best spinner in the country by far, end of story.

He's the best Spinner at the moment, and respective to the Selectors decision, it was the right one. Until other players can prove they're better, he deserves to be there.

Hmm. I doubt there are too many fantastic young spinners in Australia. Ideally, they could take this chance to take Dan Cullen and Cullen Bailey, and maybe Casson and whatever other young spinner is a country, and groom them for future honours, but instead they pick a player who might not have many years left, and who's spot in the team might rob some talented youngsters of the experience they could gain.

On the other hand, McGain has the brain of a 36 year old, but the body of a 20 something. He's not someone who has been toiling away for decades in club and grade cricket, so he is fit and raring to go, in body and mind. He could actually have a decade of cricket left in him. Legspinners are always better mature, and there was an article on Cricinfo which actually statistically proved it, so you've got the old guy as legspinner who can play for several years. And in the meantime, you hope a new spinner emerges. Could work.
