BANGALORE, MARCH 23. The third and final Test between India and Pakistan, starting here tomorrow, could be John Wright's final assignment as India's coach. The New Zealander has already informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India about his decision to quit, the BCCI secretary, S.K. Nair said today. ? PTI

John Right -The best coach India has ever had is leaving.

India will be on a lookout for a new coach.
Posibilities are be Gavaskar or Sandeep Patil.

This is what I don't get. The article says clearly John Wright, and yet you write John Right twice. Why?

a small spelling mistake there... but anyway i seriously hope they are not thinkin of Sandeep Patil and Sunny as coaches... Sandeep Patil was doin a credible job with Kenya and he should be left with the minnows... Sunny is good in givin suggestions to the ICC... but despite his stature in Indian and World Cricket I think he should'nt be the coach... his ineffectiveness as the batting consultant to Indian team over the last few months is a proof of the fact that somehow the present team's wavelength doesn't match his...

We need someone like Dean Jones who would induce a great fitness culture in it and wouldn't be prejudiced by Indian cricket's past...

Its disappointing to hear this, will it really happen he really is calm and really nice person.

I dont mind who comes as a replacement but hard to replace a person like Wright. Yes dfinitely Indias best coach ever.

Why doesnt Ganguly retire to become India's coach. In doing so, someone like Kaif or Yuvraj can get into the team.
He actually said he might do that......
Sadly it is after WC2007 :p :(

Perhaps it was a pun on his name? Saying like John Wright, always Right?

Perhaps. :D

Let's see, India will probably go in with a temporary coach which will probably be someone along the lines of Gavaskar before launching a search for another international coach. Although I doubt they'll find one now, and will have to rely on some sort of home-grown talent. Robin Singh? Just kidding!

Venkatesh Prasad retired from cricket only yesterday or the day b4 and he's already a level 3 coach - why not promote him??? :p

Wasn't he already a coach? I don't think he was on any sort of active roster since he was dropped from the Indian team. Maybe I'm horribly mistaken.

I think all this is crap . BCCI has narrowed down on three names

Steve Waugh
Tom Moody
Greg Chappel

It has all come down to favouritism now among team members.
Its not a hidden fact that Ganguly has for long wanted Chappel to be the coach.
Dravids choice had got the nod last time around and his pick this time around is Waugh
Tom Moody is the more obvious of chances cos of his good showing as coach in English circuit.

Also cant leave out possibilities like Reid ,Rhodes and Barry Richards as specialised coaches.Ganguly has shown inclinations on this topic as well .And alll this gentleman mentioned are not averse to coaching INDIA.

I remember the days when Tom Moody used to be a feared batsman. Seems like only a few years ago. I don't think it would work that well with Waugh or Moody because (a) they're Aussie and (b) they've played in the same generation as some of the Indian senior cricketers. If the BCCI has in fact narrowed down the list to those names, then my vote would go to Chappell.

I go for Steve Waugh or Greg Chappell. But I doubt Steve Waugh would jel well with Ganguly. They are a famous stand off during the Aussie-India test series in 2001 when Waugh was angry with Ganguly not turning up for the toss and has said that he does not enjoy the best of relationships with Saurav.

Chappell should be the choice!!

Sorry about the spelling mistake.

Steve Waugh would be the best option. He has good respect among Indian public for his charity activities.

But since Dada doesn't get on well with Waugh,he's is eliminated from the list.

About Robin Singh,I think he's coaching some some minnow team Hong Kong or UAE.

We could have 2 coaches. One for bowling & one for bating & fielding.
What about Wasim Akram as bowling coach & Boycott as Batting coach.

....or does Greg Chappel fit in perfectly.
