Hauritz has improved massively, but he's not as good as Swann imo. Murali>Vettori>Swann>Hauritz/Harbhajan>Mendis>Benn.
Yes, Hauritz has improved but he's only played only a handful of games compared to Harbhajan & I'm sure majority of people would rather have Harbhajan in their team than Hauritz, too early to raise his value so much; exactly the reason why Vettori should be after Murali & not Swann because Vettori has earned it through years of hardwork & Swann is just a couple of years old in International Cricket. I'd also like to squeeze in Ray Price from Zimbabwe somewhere on that list, he's a very good bowler & he would've easily been counted among the top spinners in the world right now had he been playing for one of the test-playing nations.
I wouldn't rate Taylor as good as them tbh. Smith has an exceptional domestic record, and he only bats at 8 because Australia play him as a spinner not a batting all-rounder.
Personally, I'm totally against rating players too high based on their domestic records as there are always many a "Ramprakash & Hick" among these players & one would find that most of them just can't repeat their FC performances at the international level, not for too long anyway.
I would say Vettori>Murali/Swann>Hauritz>Harbhajan>Botha/Harris (depending on format)>Mendis/Benn
That's a very very bold claim to make, Wisden guys might have something to say about that, not to mention whole of Sri Lanka
^ that seems reasonable, so long as younger players aren't given ratings near there.
Yes, I see too many youngsters among both batters & bowlers who are too highly rated even though they have played very little international cricket. I see many people who are rated better than Tendulkar & Kallis even though both of their form hasn't dipped one bit, & yet I see people like Akmal, Matthews, Gambhir, Clarke, Smith, James Taylor :doh & many absolute nobodys compared to these giants being rated higher than them, even Sangakkara, considering his marathon run in the last few years has been rated VERY low at 1332.
According to ICC developers, McKay is best bowler & Gambhir is best batsman in the world :doh, that really asks a lot of questions about their knowledge of this sport.
Steyn should undoubtedly be the best pacer in the world BY FAR as he has been ripping through every side in his path no matter what the conditions with an astonishing rate of more than 5 wickets a match & if he keeps that up for 3-4 more years, he'll definitely go down in history as one of the all time greats & it again shows developers' lack of cricketing knowledge it seems that people like Nannes, Bollinger, McKay, Siddle, Hilfenhaus who haven't even played enough at the international level to be rated as good as they've been rated in this game (& might never be) have been rated higher than Styen; for the love of God, WATSON (640) has been rated alongside Steyn (630) :doh
Along with bowlers named above, Tuffey, M Gillespie, Anderson, Broad, M Johnson, Southee etc etc have been rated too well in comparison with sub-continental bowlers like Zaheer Khan, Malinga, Sharma, Kulasekara, Asif etc & IF the weather conditions & pitches in different parts of the world have been correctly coded into the game & assuming, they actually have an impact on players' performances, ideally, better sub-continental bowlers need to be overrated slightly while bowlers from relatively bowler-friendly countries should be underrated a little to compensate for the effect of pitches & weather otherwise for example, English, NZ bowlers will end up with TOO low averages & sub-continetal bowlers with TOO high averages in comparison to their real-life averages respectively; on the same count, batters from the sub-continent need to be underrated slightly & English & NZ batters need to be slightly overrated to balance things out.

I took Hedger14's list and tried to rate them based on my assessment. Added their overall test & ODI records along with their last 2 years' performaces along with respective innings played statistic in the brackets to show in which direction their careers might be heading in the future & basing the ratings on that & didn't overrate youngsters & newbies as I'm not someone who'd put someone who has averaged 50 for 10 years & someone who has averaged 50 years for 2 years in the same league. Kiwi & English players have been slighly overrated since they'll be playing in more bowler-friendly conditions (assuming they have an impact on players in the game & their performace). What do you guys think about the list?
