Story Kent - A Cricket07 Story - Season Finished

How do you manage to bat so realisticly on this, Kev? I can't. I either score at a rate of about 20 an over, or get bowled out for about 100.
Basically because I pretty much suck at batting. So I dont very often go for the big shots but instead concentrate on picking up runs by good running between the wickets. Look at Walker's score in this innings; 128 from 140 balls but only 7 were boundries, leaving 100 runs coming from 1's, 2's and 3's.
From what I've read here most people find batting easier than bowling, but I'm just different I suppose ;)

nice batting Key mindblowing work KEv keep on

Kent v Yorkshire - Liverpool Victoria County Championship - Canterbury
Day 3 - 3rd Session

Total confusion reins supreme just after tea, van Jaarsveld calls for a run that isnt really on, the batsmen change their mind but Key isn't fast enough getting back and he's runout by a direct hit to the stumps.

3rdwicketrx2.jpg

Andrew Hall replaces Key and joins his countryman at the crease, he's just starting to look settled when he edges to Brophy and is gone for 10.

4thwickettf3.jpg

The South African connection continues as Justin Kemp walks to the crease. He and van Jaarsveld set about building a partnership and van Jaarsveld celebrates his 50 with a fine six.

The pair put on 99 together before Kemp falls for 40 to McGrath.

5thwicketkh7.jpg

Nial O'Brien walks to the crease, and has a message from captain Key. van Jaarsveld is close to his century and is obviously being told to get it or get out. It doesn't take van Jaarsveld long and immediatley afterwards Key calls the players in as Kent declare on 435/5.

mvj100rk7.jpg

They would have been hoping to have got a few overs to bowl at Yorkshire but the declaration brings an end to the days play. Kent have a first innings lead of 183 and have a day to bowl out Yorkshire, its going to be a tough ask as neither side has managed to bowl out their opposition so far.

heres a question, could you help me on my bowling if youre good at it, how can i bowl out teams successfully and consistently, with spinners and seamers.

Good batting by Kent to follow up the bowling, they wil win this one easily :D

C'mon Kent!

Kent v Yorkshire - Liverpool Victoria County Championship - Canterbury
Day 4 - 1st Session

Saggers and Hall open the bowling for Kent. Niether bowler is having much luck so Key opts to let Tredwell loose early. Almost immediatley He strikes as Sayers tries to reverse sweep him and misses the ball.

Vaughan joins Wood at the crease and a couple of overs later Wood is departing for just 1 run as Tredwell traps him LBW.

2ndwickettu5.jpg

Vaughan is Tredwell's next victim. Vaughan comes down the wicket looking to punish Tredwell but he misses the ball and is bowled for 6.

Lehmann and McGrath survive until lunch and with the pace bowlers having no joy Rob Key decides to bowl the last over himself.

Kent v Yorkshire - Liverpool Victoria County Championship - Canterbury
Day 4 - 2nd Session

McGrath and Lehmann are forming stubborn resistance and Yorkshire are digging in and going for the draw. Its not till about half way through the session that the next wicket falls. McGrath is bowled and it can only be Tredwell. McGrath defends inside the line of the ball and the bails go flying.

4thwicketgc2.jpg

Its just before tea when the next breakthrough comes and Tredwell will be having wet dreams about his performance today.

5thwicketxn3.jpg

At tea Yorkshire are 99/5. Sureley Tredwell is going to need some backup for Kent to pull this victory off.

Kent v Yorkshire - Liverpool Victoria County Championship - Canterbury
Day 4 - Final Session

Tredwell strikes again after the tea break, Brophy is gone for 1. Hall taking the catch.

6thwicketyz3.jpg

Having bowled for most of the day Key opts to take Tredwell off and go with pace at both ends for a spell. He is duly rewarded as Saggers clean bowls Gale for 35.

7thwicketgo6.jpg

Saggers strikes again a Dawson fails to trouble the scorers, edging to O'Brien

8thwicketkx7.jpg

Hoggard joins Shahzad at the crease, The pair put on 24 runs (well Shahzad does anyway) before Key brings back Tredwell for a single over and is duly rewarded with the wicket of Hoggard for a duck.

9thwicketpi8.jpg

Gillespie now joins Shahzad and Shahzad is again leading the way, with just 10 minutes to go before the end of play (and just 10 runs behind), Tredwell is again brought back into the attack to finish off Gillespie.

Hampshire v Kent - C&G Trophy - The Rose Bowl
1st Innings

Its a typically bad pitch at the Rose Bowl, very green and on a cool grey day Warne wins the toss and decides he'll bat first.

As Kent take to the field there are murmurs in the crowd as Stevens walks out with the gloves on. There is speculation as to why Kent have taken to the field without a specialist wicket keeper, rumours that Geraint Jones was stuck on the toilet were later vigourously denied by the club spokesman.

1st Over

Saggers opens the bowling for Kent with a Maiden.

4th Over

Hampshire lose their first wicket as Brown is caught in the deep by Ferley for 4 from the bowling of Joseph.

1stwicketlz5.jpg

Kevin Pietersen walks into bat at number three and the crowd are expecting fireworks. They are disapointed though as Pietersen fails to fire, he lasts only 2 balls before being caught by Kemp for a duck. Disasterous start for Hampshire 4/2.

2ndwicketow3.jpg

7th Over

Hampshire's woes continue a Thornley is bowled by Saggers for just 1 run. He's very unlucky, Saggers bangs one in short and the ball hits Thornley on the elbow and then cannons into the stumps.

3rdwicketll6.jpg

8th Over

Suddenly Hampshire are in dire trouble and 8/4 as Crawley is runout.

4thwicketeh6.jpg

22nd Over

Hampshire knuckle down and its not until the introduction of parttime legspinner Denly that Kent strike again.

5thwicketpq9.jpg

26th Over

Denly (Who has replaced the out of form ex-captain Fulton) strikes again in the 26th over to reduce Hampshire to 56/6.

6thwicketmw7.jpg

35th Over

Its good news/bad news in the 35th over.

The good news - Ervine reaches his half century.

ervine50co3.jpg

The bad news - Burrows is runout for 9.

7thwicketji4.jpg

41st Over

Hampshire's captain is next to go for 11, from the bowling of Hall. He was looking to up the runrate but instead finds the hands of Joseph.

8thwicketbp5.jpg

44th Over

It looks like the end for Hampshire when Saggers bowls Ervine for 72.

9thwicketdk9.jpg

A couple of balls later and the final axe blow falls as Taylor is bowled without scoring. Hampshire are 120 all out.

Should be a easy win for Kent - providing they don't lose early wickets.
