Kent v Essex - Twenty20 Cup - Canterbury
1st Innings

Summer looks to have arrived and its a nice sunny day. The pitch looks a little green so when Kent win the toss they put Essex in to bat.

4th Over

New Kent signing Henderson takes his first wicket for the club in his second over. He dismisses Chopra for just 1 run.

w17wt.jpg

8th Over

Stevens continues his good bowling form and dismisses Andy Flower for 18. Flower skies the shot and van Jaarsveld takes an easy catch

w27mz.jpg

In the same over he grabs the wicket of Jefferson and suddenly Essex are 42/3.

w35jq.jpg

10th Over

Cook is next to fall as he is runout for 23 with the score on 69.

w42gx.jpg

11th Over

Part-time Walker is given the ball for the 11th over and the medium paced trundler takes the wicket of Irani.

w51ah.jpg

12th Over

Essex lose yet another wicket when Stevens dismisses Grant Flower. Stevens will definatley not be on the Flower family christmas list.

w66yk.jpg

15th Over

The score moves on to 118 before Saggers gets his first wicket when Bichel edges to keeper Jones.

w78qk.jpg

Saggers gets Foster in the same over to reduce Essex to 120/8.

w84yl.jpg

17th Over

Gough is Bravo's first victim as a Kent player when he edges to Jones.

w98gp.jpg

Kent are looking good for the win now with the score on 129/9.

19th Over

Kent however, did not count on Ryan ten Doeschate as 40 runs are added before Stevens removes the young Dutchman. Essex will be delighted to have made 169 on this pitch.

These games are irrelevant as we all know that the kings of twenty20 will retain their crown ;)

Kent v Essex - Twenty20 Cup - Canterbury
2nd Innings

Kent walk out to bat, needing to score at 8.5 runs per over.

3rd Over

The first 2 overs go well for Kent, Rob Key is looking pretty handy, but it all changes for Kent in the third over. First Walker is runout for 12.

w18mg.jpg

The Gough removes both Martin van Jaarsveld and Joe Denly for ducks. Both batsmen edging to wicketkeeper Foster. Suddenly Kent are in trouble at 26/3.

w22lt.jpg

w32jz.jpg

6th Over

Key is next to go, when Grant Flower gives Bichel his first wicket. Key will be gutted, he was looking settled and has left a tough ask for his teammates.

w42sp.jpg

11th Over

More good news for Essex when Dexter is caught by ten Doeschate. Dexter never looked happy with the big hitting style required to chase this score.

w52dg.jpg

14th Over

Apart from Key, the only Batsman to have looked dangerous is Geraint Jones. He reaches his 50 in the 14th over.

gojo509nv.jpg

15th Over

Dwayne Bravo gives Foster his third catch as Kent continue to struggle.

w61xe.jpg

16th Over

Its four catches for Foster when Stevens fails to impress.

w78uv.jpg

17th Over

Its all over for Kent when Jones is bowled by ten Doeschate. Jones had been single-handedly carrying Kent.

w88yi.jpg

18th Over

Henderson is next to fall as Kent charge towards defeat.

w96gw.jpg

19th Over

Its all finished for Kent when Tredwell is caught by Andy Flower from the bowling of ten Doeschate. They may be Kings of the Championship but the shorter game format has shown they are beatable. Kent are all out for 154 and Essex win by 15 runs.

I like the way you finished the match in two updates I should try that Ive seen some matches go on for more than a week with regular updates :(

lol in the table pic you know in the background what if the batsman hits a six and it hits the cars?

All matches in this story will follow the same format for updates.

Championship matches will be 1 update per session.
One Day matches will be 1 update per innings.

As for parking cars there. I've heard some pretty nasty bangs a few times as a ball hits the bonnet of a car. Its pretty rare though. Windscreens must be covered by a blanket to prevent glare but I dont know how much protection a blanket offers a windscreen to be honest (I'd guess not much).

Its nice to finally have some games where the cpu gets a decent score. Although I think If I was using Kemp and Hall I'd have walked it ;) Henderson is an out and out batsman in this stupid game.

Surrey v Kent - Twenty20 Cup - The Oval
1st Innings

It looks like another typical English summer day, its grey and mild and the pitch is damp. So it's no surprise that Kent put Surrey in to bat first.

7th Over

After a pretty disasterous first couple of overs the Kent bowlers manage to find a line to frustrate the Surrey openers and in the 7th over Bravo takes the first wicket.

w13yd.jpg

9th Over

Kent look ontop of things when they take their second wicket. Surrey are nearly half way through their innings and are 2 wickets down for less than 50 runs.

w26ja.jpg

10th Over

Kent went into this match without a full time spinner, prefering instead to go with a stronger batting line-up. So they are delighted when part-time spinner Denly bags the wicket of Butcher. Butcher tried the reverse sweep and missed the ball completely.

w30pp.jpg

14th Over

With the score on 87, Stevens gets his second wicket, that of Mark Ramprakash.

w45ym.jpg

He then dismisses Clarke with his next ball.

w59zx.jpg

Azhar Mahmood is facing the Hat-trick ball and he responds in fantastic fashion smashing Stevens for six.

15th Over

Dexter bags his first wicket in the next over, removing Brown for 29.

w69eq.jpg

Dexter removes Batty with his next ball.

w71pz.jpg

Kumble comes out to bat and he is facing Surrey's second hat-trick ball in as many overs. Dexter pulls off what Stevens couldn't and Kumble is back in the pavilion with the score on 119/8.

w84qf.jpg

17th Over

Azhar Mahmood is not in a mood to lay down and die and is taking the fight to Kent. His partner at the crease is less fortunate and Ormond is dismissed for a duck.

w95vd.jpg

There is no stopping Mahmood though and he crusies to his fifty. Kent will be gutted that they've once again let a lower order batsman get far too many runs.

mahmood509uk.jpg

18th Over

Kent eventually wrap up the innings in the next over, removing Akram for 1 run.

w100zx.jpg

Azhar Mahmood is left on 60 not out and his innings has very probably saved the game for Surrey in there all out total of 158.

Surrey v Kent - Twenty20 Cup - The Oval
2nd Innings

2nd Over

Walker and Fulton are back opening for Kent. Walker is making the runs while out of form Fulton is content with picking up singles. Walker doesn't get very far though and is caught by Mahmood in the second over for 16.

w1to6.jpg

Rob Key strolls to the crease.

9th Over

Kent are looking in control, Fulton is again playing a backup roll to Key and Key looks set to reach fifty. Kumble has other ideas and traps Key LBW on 42.

w2fj8.jpg

Geraint Jones comes out to bat, he's been elevated up the order after his fine display in the last match.

16th Over

Clarke eventually removes Fulton for 29. Fulton will be pretty please with his knock as its well known that he does not enjoy the shorter games.

w3ii8.jpg

17th Over

Geraint Jones continues his good form with the bat and reaches his half century.

gojo50dc8.jpg

18th Over

Martin van Jaarsveld continues his poor form with the bat and is out for just 1 run, LBW to Butcher.

w4bk3.jpg

19th Over

Kent loose another wicket with the score on 155 as Dexter also fails to impress and he edges to keeper Batty of the bowling of Mahmood for 7 runs.

No Pictures, Fraps Crashed.

Final Over

Kent go into the final over needing 3 runs to win. New batsman Denly is at the crease and its Butcher to bowl the final over.

Dot Ball, Dot Ball, Dot Ball. Jones will be itching to get on strike.

But its not needed as Denly smashes the 4th ball for 6 and Kent win by 5 wickets.
