Is it like Dunkirk or 1917? Or any better?Watched this, it was superb.
Beware, the UK version had the default set to a horrible English dub, but I changed this to the original German and subtitles.

I've not seen either but it's set during WW1 - so probably more similar to 1917. It's about German soldiers too which is a different point of view than a lot of major war films.

I liked it a lot. A straightforward story but very well done. There's some very beautiful shots, really well constructed scenes. From what I've read, Satyajit Ray was an illustrator prior to making the film, so it's not a surprise.
Been on my to watch list for at least ten years. Glad to finally have got to it.
