Last Movie You Watched

See I told you @Na Maloom Afraad lack the culture.
You might be right, if you can't appreciate a good bowl cut I despair for you.

On a side note I just found this image of Mike Procter when he played at Gloucestershire.

What do you think of the Superman trailer? @Na Maloom Afraad
Not asking the resident DC comics fan I see ....

But in all seriousness they was a fantastic trailer so much to look forward to. I'm so happy Guy Gardner is getting his due, he has always been one of my favourites as well as metamorpho

I'm not a huge comics fan but I have fond memories of Christopher Reeve as Superman (need to watch the new documentary) and I've been a fan of James Gunn since Slither. I think we went to see cause we were Nathan Fillion fans from Firefly. So, when I saw him I knew exactly it was what I wanted, with having no idea who Guy Gardner is.
:laughter:

With my last entry of the year, i thought I might do a little something different. Top 5 movies released were released in 2024 (that I have seen)

notable mentions: Saturday Night - Rated 7/10, Alien Romulus - Rated: 7/10

5) The Fall Guy - Rated: 8/10
4) Oddity - Rated 8/10
3) Thelma - Rated: 8/10
2) Rebel Ridge - Rated: 8/10
1) Nosferatu - Not yet rated (but based on the above you can probably make an educated guess)

I didn't watch as many movies that were made in 2024 as I would've liked due to just being very busy with work and just other goings ons, this list is just based on what I've seen in 2024 that was released in 2024 (I hope i got the criteria correct)

Sideways (2004)

zOsaxYLgvZVU7cJBpPn8CuE0MrP.jpg

I was interested in this after watching The Holdovers, Paul Giamatti and the same director Alexander Payne. What a fantastic movie, i can see why it was nominated for Best Picture. 8/10

Election (1999)

5gPOFU6IPvDrx50XaPCK4twNw79.jpg

A movie that has definitely not aged well. This was another of Alexander Payne's movies. The acting was fine, the story was wildly uncomfortable especially in 2025. 6/10

Private Parts (1997)

8nCc9fhXCVvetlqpxkrCTc9NwOz.jpg

This movie was recommended to me. I have never been a Howard Stern fan and I can say this movie did nothing to change that. 3/10

Amélie (2001)

oTKduWL2tpIKEmkAqF4mFEAWAsv.jpg

This movie had been in my watchlist for years and I am glad I watched it. Very good I can see how people love this movie. 8/10

Kinsey (2004)

6z0LuHUjLavL0ufkY1TYLYfx8mu.jpg

I don't know how history will view Alfred Kinsey, his research has been extremely controversial. That being said the movie was fine. 6/10

The Interview (1998)

yW462Tqs3pGcYFaNAAYlsfeDpcG.jpg

I don't know why this movie isn't talked about more. What a amazing movie that mostly takes place in an interrogation room that leaves you questioning what is the truth. 9/10

The Fighter (2010)

xfsFerGhO1h6rLk8vwLgMyQ8WVJ.jpg

The movie that won Christian Bale an Oscar and I can see why. The movie bends the truth a bit but that is to be expected for a movie. Overall really good 8/10

Brother (2023)

yqd1CmwaXQkLXVLsO2cqiExplb1.jpg

Brother is a story of two sons of an immigrant from Jamaica living in Toronto. Just a heartbreaking story and unfortunately something that happens far too often in North America. 8/10

The Master (2012)

tvhE7TWGzLPgN82bBDuX1XtH5oE.jpg

A mentally unstable man gets charmed by a cult leader. Holy smokes movies like this make me miss Philip Seymour Hoffman even more. Gone much too soon. 8/10

Queenpins (2021)

p5Uz76EOwj9rAsdGxYL8IZGPV2B.jpg

I think this was supposed to be a comedy... I say that because I don't think it was very funny. 3/10

Blackberry (2023)

nQSvHZDuMlrZdm7ooMo8gb4CXhW.jpg

The rise and fall of arguably the world's first smartphone. This movie was so much better than I was expected especially the scene at the NHL head office. It is a well known fact that Waterloo is where the vampires hang out and I was not expecting to see that in a movie, caught be completely off-guard. 7/10

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (1989)

oat42hUw8XzKYUmfy0YLAxYd484.jpg

My co-worker kept going on and on about how this is his favourite Christmas movie, so I decided to watch it it was enjoyable. I haven't seen any other National Lampoon movie but I also have no interest in any other unless someone recommends it. 6/10

Wind River (2017)

pySivdR845Hom4u4T2WNkJxe6Ad.jpg

After finishing (i think it's finished) Yellowstone, I figured I'd check out some of Taylor Sheridan's movie and I believe it was this movie that put him on the map and it was great, much better than the ending (good god I hope it's over) of Yellowstone. 8/10

Nosferatu (2024)

5qGIxdEO841C0tdY8vOdLoRVrr0.jpg

What a great movie. I loved the acting, the cinematography. 9/10

The Wild Robot (2024)

9w0Vh9eizfBXrcomiaFWTIPdboo.jpg

Had I watched this last year, it would've made my top 5 of the year. A great movie 9/10

What Jennifer Did (2024)

r3PJPXuSArGK8tM6lBUyPUTtIbJ.jpg

I had heard of this when it happened, because I used to work just a few blocks away from where this happened. It was strange to see a whole documentary about it. Documentary was interesting enough it's just that I pretty much knew 85% of the story 6/10

Cunk on Life (2024)

zZx5a595bYuNxd8TdoRflxATFML.jpg

Cunk on Life is a follow-up to her Cunk on series and it just hits all the same notes. It's becoming a reliable source of comedy just like 1989 Technotronic hit pump up the jam.

7/10

Escape from Pretoria (2020)

8GGS0jkFFCnmdStvZED6NL6V7gd.jpg

I was looking at things to watch and just ended up settling in on this. It was fine, nothing out of this world but just okay. 6/10

His Three Daughters (2024)

yTIHBPLQyzhgz1c2spak3btJxsg.jpg

It's been a while since a movie has brought be to tears and this was one. Great movie with great performances. 8/10

Jurassic Park (1993)

fjTU1Bgh3KJu4aatZil3sofR2zC.jpg

My wife had never seen the original Jurassic Park and I just had to show her. This movie still holds up as the best movie of the entire series. 9/10

A Real Pain (2024)

38lb62nJcNvVgCDkFt2wiVE0bX4.jpg

This movie had a lot of buzz and after watching it, it was fine.. just fine 6/10

All That Jazz (1979)

culCEdj4srLljefgn4XKd6k3C5t.jpg

It's showtime... fascinating movie. I don't want to give away too much but this movie may not be for everyone. 7/10

Doubt (2008)

9lypT2ghNuUPYVJf66oe4fKvUqI.jpg

Meryl Streep, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Amy Adams and Viola Davis... i mean what more is there to say... the movie certainly doesn't .... 8/10

Girl, Interrupted (1999)

dOBdatHIVppvmRFw2z7bf9VKJr9.jpg

Angelina Jolie just stole this movie. I can see why she won an oscar for it. Overall the rest of the movie was good as well. 7/10

Red Dawn (2012)

aHdxKDX36NOEYE2NyAyP7ThuAcm.jpg

I was looking to watch the original Red Dawn but accidently ended up watching the remake... it was fine but now I don't feel like watching the original at least for a while. 5/10

Who Took Johnny (2014)

93QgSxYD68F3jeICIB8mYaZzhPi.jpg

The original milk carton kid. It's horrible what happened to him and his family. We may never know the truth of what happened to Johnny but the documentary itself wasn't that interesting. 4/10

Saint Omer (2022)

ekr25uuxlH7kg3KLhLLZcDZ15xd.jpg

A french courtroom drama that's partially based on a true story. Heartbreaking stuff. 8/10

Get Away (2024)

ser6ZCKHMXhQISKULYCxz6Saf3I.jpg

A movie with Aisling Bea and Nick Frost? Yes please. Unfortunately that's about all that was good about this movie. 3/10

Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile (2019)

a7dVwEBU3vupg3hZQMeyL6ksz0F.jpg

While the movie itself was fine. Zac Efron as the serial killer Ted Bundy was just fantastic. His performance basically made the whole movie. 7/10

The American Friend (1977)

jHVe5EHDFj9ac2F2aU86sWTGKnn.jpg

I've heard great things about this movie and it did not disappoint. 7/10

Take This Waltz (2011)

2xLrMVcRgEGXMRVhLRcCUpyIYSH.jpg

This is a perfect example of a movie where I hated the main character but the movie worked because of it. 7/10

The Ref (1994)

ym7Kx3iDmalK8kXKvVQwnFYABEV.jpg

After watching this movie once, it has already become one my favourite Christmas movies. 7/10

You're Cordially Invited (2025)

ec50pMNyIshL0blt1q8dUEbIa2G.jpg

This movie just somehow worked for me. I don't know why, i just put it on for the sake of having something on while I was cleaning but I ended up having a few genuine laughs. 7/10

I watched Longlegs. It was alright, but not enough Nic Cage to be honest.

1738522480654.jpeg

Was pleasantly surprised by this. I've heard of Kneecap, they seem like a good bunch of lads but I'd never heard their music. I think there's a fair bit of creative liberties (although reading up afterwards I was surprised about one character's story being so accurate) but I think the themes and laughs are most important. It's good fun, creatively made and has some thoughtful messages in there. Would recommend.

Randomly watched a film called To Live and Die In LA because last week I'd watched Dog Eat Dog (which was meh) but wanted a bit more Willem Dafoe. Thought this might be a bit of a schlocky 80s crime thriller. Then the credits rolled and saw that William Friedkin had directed it. It was like proto-Heat. I loved it. A decent cast with John Turtorro showing up, Dean Stockwell and even Daphne from Frasier in a non-speaking role.

Last week I also watched Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie. If you like Tim and Eric you'll enjoy this, not sure about how your viewing experience would be if haven't watched any of their stuff.
