I'm not really sure where to bring it up, but I might as well do it here.

In the cricket league rules this is what number two states:

"If a online league started goes without any activity for a month, the thread will be deleted. ( this is to prevent the members in starting the online leagues just for the sake of doing it and loosing interest frequently). If members find such threads, please free to report it or PM the link to me. If the same member attempts to start another league without any permission from mods and within two month's time, that thread will also be deleted."

ATM there's way too much of this happening, people are just opening up random leagues, giving up on them, and a month later just starting another random one.

It's one thing having an active leagues section which is what I want, but when 21 leagues have been commented on in the past day, it's extremely annoying to go through eight ones which have not even started any matches.

Like I don't mind someone like bcvs coming on and creating a second league, as his first one is the best ever made so he's knows what he's doing, but when some random comes on and starts two leagues in one day and has not even participated in one before, I think something has to be done.

I'm not really sure how to tackle this problem, maybe it's time for a separate leagues section mod, as from what I've heard Suren is pretty busy ATM so doesn't really have to time to do all the modding that is required of him.

Also I advice people before they actually start trying to run leagues, to actually participate in some. There are several people who I've never heard of and they've just come on and started a league, yet they have very little idea on how they actually run.

Thanks to anyone who actually reads this, and I just one to know if some of the other more experienced people in this section are feeling the same as me.

I have actually deleted very few leagues in the very beginning. But as the rules got eased up a bit through out the forums, the trend which is currently followed ( though no official announcement of rules or strict enforcement of the same )

1) Members should not be having too many restrictions. i.e. Rules should not scare them.
2) If they start 20-30 leagues in inconsistent manner, will other members bother by participating or giving comments? So that particular members' league neither would be welcomed nor would get active participation. This most likely will draw disinterest in league starter as well automatically.

I feel the same btw. Too many people are starting leagues now, and it is likely only half of them will manage to complete the season. But some people do participate in those leagues, so we cant exactly stop them.

Really, if you want your league to be good, you got to get some reputation either from performing well and being active in leagues that you join or make a league with some of the less active members and update it regularly and get through a few seasons and the good managers will come along. Like if I see a league with someone like Biggy, bcvs or Callum running it, I'll immediately have a look at it but if it's just some random who just joined PlanetCricket, I just skip past that.

Completely agree with you hedger, which is why I've said I advice people before they actually start trying to run leagues, to actually participate in some. There are several people who I've never heard of and they've just come on and started a league, yet they have very little idea on how they actually run.

Yeah. I have not seen one league that has got into the matches that has been started by an unknown to the forums.

Several people whom you say, if they are starting for first time, well no probs in lending our support to the beginners to see how they actually manage to run. But, if they are going to just start the leagues just for the sake of starting, obviously it won't attract members' attention.

Yeah! The number of leagues has just gone up one-two days. Lets see how well they do.

Totally agree. I also look if one of them is participating in it as well, as they normally choose good ones to join :)

I agree to all of you and i have started a new league called ICC League and i promise that i not only complete season 1 but will take it to season 5.

The problem with that name is that I get it confused with the ICC World Cricket League ><

I cannot change the title as i have to take it to five season. Anyway i hope chewie you join my league in t20 format of season 1.

I certainly agree with Callum there because it can get really frustrating sometimes when a league fails to take off after all the initial formalities, especially when you sign up in it.

Suren also has got a point there when he says that strict rules may discourage new members to come up with something new here.

So,taking both these points in to consideration,i propose a 'yellow-red card system' where if someone fails to carry on (at least one season) or abandons the league he started for the first time,he gets a first warning or a yellow card.
If he happens to repeat the same,he gets a red card which doesn't allow him to start a new league again for say 3 months.

bcvstheworld added 6 Minutes and 13 Seconds later...

To be fair to those new here, most of them abandoned their leagues as people failed to sign up which is probably because they weren't sure if those new leagues would really take off.

On a positive note though, the activity in this section is just picking up steadily with more and more new members showing interest after dropping really low 2 months back, which is a really wonderful thing for this section :)

Great Idea!

Looking at Chewie and Hedger's point you are yourself discouraging the League owner.

If you say you just want to join leagues with names Callum,Sartaj and Biggy and not others reading this the new members who are joining in here will definitely fell that the big people and people who are old in this forum will not join whats the use creating one.

As suren said we need to help them, then only they will be matured enough. I started 4 leagues.

2 failed beacuse tweaking Cricket 07.

1 successfully completed Season 1 SOCS league and now other is doing well.

So My request is see what others have for you instead of just coming and joining leagues which have BCVS,Callum or Biggy tag.

Help the new people and may be they might just have a brilliant and superb idea which is better then my league or Mihir's IPL or BCVS or Callum or even Biggy.

I would be damn sure that if Harris would have opened English Premiere League like BCVS no one would have joined although it would have same format and same thing.(He actually was planning to start the same thing but he said BCVS was quick enough in opening another league.)

Anyways if people read it hope you have understood especially Hedger and Chewie. Give Other People Some Chance.

Nothing Bad Against Callum,Biggy BCVS and Mihir but wanted others to know it that you need to give upcoming members a chance
