I whole-heartedly agree with Rahulkhush.:) I guess you all feel that "he is a new member and would not be able to complete the league" etcetc. But I think we must give them a try to achieve their best. For e.g., No big names joined my league (except WestIndian and bcvs), still I was able to make it through half of the first season ( which is more than "first season because its around 3 months long). At the mid of my league (During end of Cricsim Championships,) I felt that nobody liked my league (Infact, I felt it was a pretty good effort by me). But Rahul, Akshay, Biggy and especially Riz supported me and thats why it is still there.

Point of this long discussion - At least give youngsters a chance to prove them.:)

Hey mate Thanks for agreeing to me but I do not feel anyone will do except you

Well I personally I get annoyed when the first page of the league is in broken English or with a lot of grammar mistakes, and so I don't normally join those leagues. I wait and see if the first season goes well and then if it does, I will look to join it.

Whats wrong in Broken English? There are more then 40% members who are from Sub Continent.

They all cannot speak fluent English as you all can. If you say this in Story Forums then it can be understood but here in league is just a silly excuse. Nothing against you Chewie but still it's a silly excuse. You have to see the format and not language atleast in leagues.

Exactly. I have had my share of taking part in leagues that close mid-way, and those leagues are just a waste of time then.

Personally I feel what you should do is to start out a smaller league and as soon as it completes its first season, people will look at it, since they know the owner is dedicated to it. I started a small league (15 games) at first , and then moved to a larger league (about 70 ODIs, & 50 Tests) afterwards.

I though agree to Chewie's point of Joining League which has completed one season successfully.

I'm kinda OCD in some ways. Most of the new leagues are made by members I've never heard of and if they don't speak English well it just annoys me. If they manage to get their second season then good on them and I'll look at joining. If the league was made by a well respected member though, I would look at joining.

Same Old Story!!! :doh:doh

Lets Carry on and leave the topic here..

For me bottom Line : No One Can Be Perfect In English If You Are Waiting For English To Be Perfect then you are in wrong place where half population on PC consists of Sub-Continent Fans.

Still I feel in story forum this has the most important part but in leagues its least requirement.

And not joining due to poor English is :facepalm

Yes but if you join you can improve them for sure.. But still it comes to Callum,Biggy and BCVS :p If they are there then even 20 teams will be sold if not not even 6 :p

Still Saying Nothing Against Sartaj,Callum and Biggy..

Just mentioning your names as this topic was raised!!

I know that many of the members are from the subcontinent and that their English will understandable by imperfect. It's just that leagues that are written in good English are much easier to understand - sometimes I can not understand what the members are trying to write in their opening post of the league, and so I don't understand what the league is about. Similarly, if I join then I'll have to read each post in careful thought over what it is trying to say. Normally its not too bad, but occasionally it can be.

English was one of my strongest subjects at school and I was forever correcting my friends when they made grammatical mistakes (rather nerdy, I know) and it just touches me somewhere that makes me annoyed - rather like in fantasy cricket when someone classes someone as an all-rounder when they shouldn't be or similar.

It is a rather poor excuse, I know, but I feel the standard of writing here should be similar to that of the Story section. In some ways they are similar to stories, just with more interaction from others.

Basically, I will join a new league if they are made by someone who I have seen post in the league section often before, because they generally know what they're doing. If they haven't, I will wait until the second season and see how the first season went - how did they interact with the people in the league, what is their presentation like, and is the concept good. Bad English is a turn off from joining a league for me, but is not the be all and end all. It is rather annoying when people are still new to PC and they start up a new league, which has similar incarnations already.

My original point was people should actually participate in several leagues before they actually make one.
This is exactly what I did, I joined several leagues first of all, then when I had realized what was happening and had got ideas on how to run them I made my own, and all the original six team were gone in a few hours.

I sometimes check out new leagues, but like Chewie said without a good opening post I'm not really interested. Yes no one can be perfect at English, but when it underlines words spelt wrong with a red line you can at least fix up basic spelling mistakes. Like a story everyone should try their best to get their spelling and grammar right, as they are very similar to stories.

As with Chewie I'm not just going to go and join a random league with some one I've never heard of, as 95% of the time it won't get completed due to them not having any background or interest in this section. Normally I look for people who have successfully completed a league before, or have been active in the section lately. If I know someone has created a league within the last few months and just left it, I won't even look at their new league.

My final point is I advice people before they actually start trying to run leagues, to actually participate in some. There are several people who I've never heard of and they've just come on and started a league, yet they have very little idea on how they actually run.

this never use to happen before; just recently there are a few members making leagues, because of this lotm and i have a feeling that they make leagues to boost their post counts although they dont actually know that post counts are off in this section.

Yes I agree with you. They Don't know that their posts are not Counted

I would create a league except I don't have any original ideas to make one... :laugh

Also while I remember I hate it how some people make their total prize money less than the combined total of vCash they receive from people buying a team.
I'm pretty sure those sorts of people just come on here to make a profit, as they usually never even start any matches.
