Lockdown tournament (SEASON 2 - Updates in first post)

The twelve fine legs coach giving a pre-game pep talk. It was motivational to say the least. It shall make the papers.

Glasgow Grubbers Statement from the Chairman

Following a thorough review of the weekend's defeat the Glasgow Grubbers have decided on the following points of action ahead of the rest of the tournament.

1. Team captain Ravi Bopara has returned to the side following his rest. He was not dropped as reported in the fake news media but has instead been resting a slight ankle injury. He is now back and we all throw our weight behind the rightful captain of this team.

2. Poor performance cannot be tolerated which is why Pujara and Broad have been dropped for this fixture. They will return if Ravi sees fit.

3. We are still compiling our dossier about the corruption in this tournament. Several other chairmen have DM'd me with their concerns and I assure them, as I assure you, that this will be going to the correct authorities and there will be a reckoning for the blatant corruption that is occuring.

4. We will continue to play the game in the right spirit. Our new groundsman assures me that our pitch for the upcoming day is sporting and that is all we want.

5. We are hopeful that the fixture between 12 Fine Legs and Blocktown Brotherhood degenerates into the absolute cheatfest we know it will and that both teams will be disqualified from the tournament.

All hail Glasgow.

Here is today’s team sheet for our match against the Lockdown Losers who I believe have Amla and Willey opening.
:up:Doug Bracewell
:down:Thisara Perera
:up:Steven Finn
:down:Sam Curran

We have kept in the useful Krunal Pandya in for Bhuvi who was very expensive despite taking two wickets across the warm up and round 1 game. Joe Root just edges out Temba Bavuma due to his quicker strike rate and starts. John Campbell waits in the wings as the only player not to play due to Phillips’ amazing 85 which I rewatched that essentially gave us a score to defend which surprisingly we did. Short stays in from his good first round and then bowling performance in the second game. Maxwell, Hetmyer and Carey have all shown good promise with the captain leading well and the two Aussies very close to putting in a big score.

Bracewell has to come in as a hard hitting batter with some extra pace who is wasted on the sidelines. J Richardson stays in ahead of Curran despite the loss of the left arm angle because Curran has been expensive with the ball across 3 games like Bhuvi. Both have a chance of coming in again if all goes wrong. And it’s Steven Finn his tail ended exploits and his fiery pace and likeable guy makes him a must.

I am looking forward to getting involved in our third group game with the table hotting up with four of us in Group A on three points. Thanks for keeping this up this is reallly fun and great to watch. :bat::arwk::wk:

Another big win for Blocktown Brotherhood and Trump's Fine Legs losing courtesy of an inability to take the fifth wicket.

Pretty close finish in the second match. Short Leg XI need 17 from the last but unfortunately Doug Bracewell hogged the strike when Alex Carey had been smashing it. Even a Josh Hazlewood no ball wasn't even to let SLXI get the victory.

I'm fairly sure I will push the two games scheduled for tonight back to tomorrow evening. I will confirm either way by about 6pm tonight.

Tense win, not a big win. Boys have been told to sharpen up.

@Wavelberry has my boys behind him in the big match up vs SFS. At the very least we need some damage done to their RpW.
