Lockdown tournament (SEASON 2 - Updates in first post)

A jubilant Mouseydread could not contain himself in front of the gathered press just now.

"I declare my love for my boys......what a stunning performance today, EPIC! The whole squad should be proud. The two Sunils (Narine and Ambris), Rassie, Vernon, Mitchell, Shai, Universe Boss, Kano, Evin, Pollard, Jason, Jermaine, Ashley, Sheldon and of course our boy of the moment Marnus Labuschagne"

With cheers from the dressing room behind him, Mouseydread continued, a broad smile across his face.

"Our opponents have a great batting line up! You get a bit worried with players like, AB and David Warner in the side, but we handled them, even Kieron who had a few issues with the yips got two crucial wickets".

"Marnus what a day son! What a day!, marvelous it was, just marvelous" He then disappeared into the Fire In Babylon changing room at Lords. To the sound of loud cheers.

"Marnus! Marnus! Marnus!

After Labuschagne's batting and bowling performance, it was actually, "Marvelous Marnus" indeed.

An record breaking run chase and a big win this afternoon.

Ducks XI broke the record for a powerplay total (73/0) then broke the record for total ... total (214/5); that included a 50 from 17 balls from Shubman Gill. However, some rather lax bowling and some great batting from Short Leg XI kept their qualifying hopes alive. A masterclass from Glenn Maxwell (61 from 26) saw them home with six balls to spare. Ducks XI are left alone on 0 points, while Short Leg XI join three others teams on 6 points. It means Trump's Fringe cannot be caught and have won Group A.

The four teams on 6 points all play each other. So one of the winners will automatically qualify, the other will probably be hoping to get enough points to seed in 7th or 8th.

Gilly's Grubs could've gone top 12 points with a win but they chose to bat first on a green deck and it did not work well. Two quick wickets from Starc and Philander and in the middle overs Narine, Gayle and Labuschange picked up another five. Despite 6 no balls from Kieron Pollard he did at least take two wickets. Labuschagne must've had a talking to between matches. After the slowest 50 of the tournament last round he picked it with 50 from 35 before ALMOST reaching three figures. A boundary to win it took him to 99 not out from 60 balls. A big win for Fire In Babylon means there FOUR teams on 9 points going into the last matches. All four of those team player one of the others, so it's winner goes though. It's gonna be interesting!

Sunil Narine is now level with Jasprit Bumrah on 9 wickets.

This evening. San Francisco Suckers v Twelve Fine Legs. TFL need to win to stay in with a chance of the quarter finals.

Updated the schedule.

  • Sorted out the ranking - the tie breaker RPW should be working.
  • Knockout sheet has 5th place play off and bronze medal match.
  • Seedings show where you are placing currently - and destination after the groups.
  • Quarter finals showing (based on current positions/seedings) - of course these will change. QFs will be home advantage to the top seeded sides.

I demand a recount: why aren't The Loons bottom of the pile in group B? Scandalous behaviour.

Our absolute refusal to score more than 150 runs may affect our seeding but the purists love us.
When you talk of purists I take it you mean in the sense of pissed stained tramps drinking ethanol laying in their own shit outside Glasgow Central?

The fact that we have one of the highest wicket takers and an opening batsmen who scored decent runs is undoing all the good work Cook has put in to ensure our shitedom: but I have to bow my head to the grubby Grubbers: they have managed to plumb the depths of shiteness unimaginable outside of Trump policy discussion meetings.

A game full of incident has seen Twelve Fine Legs knocked out. Once again they failed defend a 200+ total. The SFS run chase had everything including Dawid Malan given out caught controversially when it should've been a six. The final over saw Haris Rauf 'do a Lyon' and fumble a return throw when both San Francisco Suckers batsman were at the same end. As the ball ran away the batsman managed to sort themselves out. Colin de Grandhomme hit the winning runs with a ball to spare.

San Francisco go second. The winner of their match against Blocktown Brotherhood will go through for certain. The losers of that match will be in the mix for the third place qualification. Spartans need to beat The Glasgow Grubbers to secure qualification.

What a round of matches this past two days.
