How can you compare Murali with some Bedi! He would never have lasted 18-19 years in international cricket in the modern era even if he chucked and that Maninder has made a very stupid comment by saying Bedi would have been as great as Murali had he been allowed to bend cause an average of 28 and strike rate of 80 was quite ordinary in the 70's no matter how great batsmen you were bowling to and I don't know how chucking would have improved that ████ average. He should hang himself in shame if he is claiming himself a great bowler.

This has been a long time coming tbh, but Murali shouldn't have been so brutal and harsh on Bedi. IIRC he said at the presentation ceremony at galle he didn't have any grudge on anyone, so why say all this crap now?

Same opinion! I wouldnt have reacted to this if Murali responded to the actual issue of Bedi calling him a chucker. But he takes on Bedi by calling him an ordinary bowler who would have been thrashed in today's times. Even if that could have become true, Murali has no business taking that route to defend himself. Considering his reputation of being a calm and cool guy, his reply comes as a big surprise. And Murali is no astrologer or God to predict what Bedi would have done in today's times.

Murali and Bedi have a history, though, and I think Murali has threatened to sue Bedi for slander more than once. Now that he's done with the game, he's probably looking to burn some bridges.

Actually I feel that would have happened really. The old 60 overs days were too economical. (see 1970s bowlers' economies).
Now, 50 over games, under the influence of T20 has become far more aggressive than what they used to be.

I understand Murali's frustration, but at the same time I do feel that he shouldn't have condescended himself to Bedi's level and made those disparaging remarks. Bedi has been on the Murali bashwagon since God knows when, and no one gives two hoots to his rants about Murali and his bowling action.

I'm with Murali on this, clearly Bedi lacks the brain capacity to deal with Murali being better than he ever was and resorts to bringing up a complete non-issue. Let us not forget that the only spinner legal under the old rules, who was tested, was Sarwan.

The old rules for bend in an arm were not done scientifically.

Move on Bedi and stop the moronic rants.
