Story My Somerset Journey (ICC08) - Story Complete

Result

This game was setup by a risky batting tactic, that paid off. Cloudy conditions turned into very cloudy, but i kept with 6 bars and it paid off. Really pleased i managed to score an many as i did. If i had lost early wickets, i would have had to change approach. One other thing in my favour is that most of my batsmen were in good or great form. It was a tough total to chase in very cloudy conditions, in hindsight, if i had an extra seamer i could have won this even easier. My bad, i forgot to play trego. Anyway, im chuffed, and so are the lads.

Good win, and Kieswetter did nothing after I bigged him up :p Still better than Spurway even when he scores a duck!

Congrats Gas

Thanks mate, delighted with the result. For some reason i still don't like playing Munday in the OD games, for one he can be expensive, but mainly because somerset have so many all round spin bowlers who's batting can come in very handy late order.

Next up is a tough pro 40 game at home to Hampshire. Given my form i should win, but they have a better side.

A really good, and satisfying performance. Everything is going right, luck is on my side. Hants one the toss, but put me into bat. If conditions are good, i can really take advantage on batting first currently. Treco and Kieswetter, put on a top notch opening stand, really set the game up for me. A good performance form all the bowlers helped seal a decent victory.

Here are the current tables, i really seem to have hit a purple patch, my squad rotation system seems to be working well. The tables are below, top of the CC now, (somehow, odd considering i was bottom after 3 or 4 games) and top of the Pro 40 by 4 points. The future looks bright, but i must keep focus. If you lose form, its easy to lose a lot of games, in a short space of time.

Hampshire get a chance for revenge as i travel to them for a 4 day game. Kieswetter keeps his place as Langer is away with the Aussies () and Edwards is injured. Munday comes in for Suppiah, and Banks drops out for an extra batsmen in Byrne. Think the toss could be crucial in this game.

Lost the key toss, and was not batted out of the game. Shame, i was so close to snatching a win near the end, but didn't have enough spare wickets to push for the win. Because Hants are 2nd in the CC, i could not afford defeat. Pretty gutted to be honest, do the maths, i was very close to winning.

Spurway is crap. Kieswetter is a future England keeper!

Good to see Kieswetter at the top of the innings. It's a strong line-up, especially with the youngsters in good form. Get rid of their first 3 batsmen and then they're in trouble. Good luck and do Somerset proud!

QUACK QUACK :p

63 was all edges :p

mate open the batting with Spurway and Kietswetter the better performer tells the story :)

A close game ensured as Gloucs batted really well first up. The game looked to be won thanks to a Top Knock from the in form Kieswetter, but a middle order collapse meant that Suppiah and Thomas had to come in to grind out the final few runs.

Another pleasing victory. Ali and Magnoffin bowled such tight early spell, and picked up a couple of early wickets that i had to just see them off, then attack the other bowlers. Suppiah and Banks came in late order to ensure i had a total to defend.

I attacked hard and was aggressive in the field, and bowled mainly pace. Phillips picked up 3, but Suppiah claimed the best figures, to cap a good performance from him overall, picking up 3 for 12, off 1.4 overs.
