NatWest Series Fixtures

1st ODI, Chester Le Street, England won by 185 runs.
2nd ODI, Bristol, England won by 6 wickets.
3rd ODI, Manchester, Australia won by 2 wickets.
4th ODI, Cardiff, Australia won by 3 wickets.
5th ODI, Lords, England won by 5 wickets.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Since the excellent online super series we both had last year that ended in both of us winning 2 each and the last ODI ending in a dramatic tie we decided we will play the much awaited Ashes. Shailesh will be playing as England and I will be playing as Australia.

Patches and software used :

Editors : All of the awesome editors created by Prakash. The field editor, player editor, lineup editor, Graphics editor to name a few.

Graphics : There are so many and we thank you all mods for having provided these they are well worthy of use.

Savetweak : This is one awesome addition that really makes this possible and this also adds realism allowing us to change bowling midway through the inning for opponents.

AI : Using my own call it V2 ODI or anything you guys like.

Sam's exe : Would have absolutely love to play with his new V 1.2 beta but for the game running too slow when played using this exe. Shailesh has tried it and reckons it is excellent. Don't know if we will be able to use this one at all.

!Xspeed : Absolutely love the software, playing games are now quicker, challenging and finishes in no time allowing us to realistically get through a series in no time.

If there are any patches we have used but is not listed above then our apologies for not having listed it.

We have already played two tour games already. The first one was between Australia v/s Surrey. Batting first Australia scored 295/9 off 50 overs and Surrey almost chased the target but fell short by just 10 runs. Graham Thrope scored a hundred off only 105 balls which was the highlight of the match. This game was played on hard pitch in sunny and warm weather conditions.

The second game was between Australia v/s Worcs. Worcs scored 255 off 48 overs, Solanki top scored with some support from Hick, Hall. The only odd instance was the amount of extras - 62 of them as the keeper along with most of the bats was beaten several times..take out 50 of those and may be 205 would have been a realistic score.

Australia chased the target with ease with 5 wickets and 5 overs to spare. Never have I enjoyed batting as much as I did in this game(Can it be because I am playing as Australia?). It was just a great feeling to bat really, you need to see the hook shots hit by Hayden. The ball was literally out of the ground and what better than playing a hook shot for six . I am sure with Sam's new exe I would have had a better challenge but it was challenging nevertheless. One big partnership between Hayden and Martyn set up the game for Australia. The partnership lasted 134 runs and I played several aerial shots but was able to connect well once the batsman settled down. I also have to confess I have never ever scored 128 runs for any batsman so far in Cricket 2004 in a ODI(thanks to my impatience). For once I batted with application and played smart cricket. While the ground shots kept the scorecard ticking over, the aerial shots provided the pleasure of building an inning. The major difference now with this patch is the ability to score off yorkers. No more frustrating dismissals to yorkers.

The bowling was not so bad considering it was a county team and after the tweaking there were only 14 extras. I tried all sorts of bowling changes but the bowling never really was threatning. Things may change once we start the ODIs though. I have set up a web page for our screen shots and videos.

While I was playing this ODI I got so excited with the batting I ended up with a 50 MB highlights file. You will not need to download the entire file though as I have set up windows media streaming from that page. When you navigate to that page the video will play on its own and I have encoded at nearly 400 kbps. Don't you forget to watch the highlights and especially the hook shot by Hayden off Kabir Khan

To watch the video go to http://www.overthewicket.com/Cricket2004/index.html

If you have dial up connection the first thing you want to do is to switch off the video by using the stop button. Those with download managers, please switch off download managers and you will be able to watch the video as a stream rather than downloading it.

Please feel free to download the AI patch and the save game file to have a crack yourself as Australia. Mind you, the game will only be challenging if you use all the patches that we have used especially the AI patch, field setup, no cursor patch by Sam, !xspeed @ +1.74 and the rooster.pak

Ravi, the new cfgs are excellent and since much different than previous hit v2, they should be released as v3 imo (also to avoid any confusion).

In related news, ECB chief strongly criticized recent attacks by a section of media calling the odi series as "rubbish and boring". He expressed his confidence that the fans will be treated to some entertaining cricket from both sides. He also asked the fans to ignore such reports which are printed only because of someone falsely holding a grudge that players from a certain county are not getting selected.

Announcement of England squad is expected later today with the 5 match odi series starting off this weekend.

Yes S, sounds good to me. I will upload this as Ver 3 ODI patch to the website, you may want to download it from there. Before we do that I want to quickly test it for bowling side of it too as we may end up bowling half the game in future or even in the test matches. Meanwhile you can draw up the fixtures. If you also list your team (16 men each for ODI and Test) I will make the necessary changes to the rooster.
